Ok, I have a serious question. I sometime suddenly get depressed for no reason(as I have just a minute ago) there is no warning and no cause. It just suddenly comes out of nowhere, and lasts up to 3 days at a time. It gets to the extent that I will actually start crying. It dosen't matter where I am (class, home, out, etc.) or who I am with (friends, people I don't know, enemies, alonee, etc)

Would this be considered a serious problem?

Definitely talk to someone, maybe your parents, or a school councellor, or your doctor. It's not an uncommon problem, and you can get help.

If you are ever in one of those states and need a "quick fix," then I suggest reading Zephir's sig. Not gonna help you in the long run, but good enough for a little while.

That indeed sounds like manic depression/bi-polar disorder. I think my gf might be manic depressive, as just last night she did the same thing. She's happy and fine and energetic and Boom, 30 seconds later she's got her head between her knees and crying. Out of nowhere.

I have an older sister who is bi-polar as well.

Thanks for the offer Disaster, but like I said, this is just depression, about nothing. If I did try to rant, it'd look something like this.

<Spoony_Bard> ...............

But thanks for the offer none the less, it means a lot to me.

Hahahax...that's so lame it hurts, doesn't it? But well, that’s basically what I say whenever I’m angry or bored-unintelligible crap!! biggrin.gif
Anyway, for some reason, through your posts, I get the feeling u haven’t met many good people in this world. I don’t know why I feel that way but if it’s true, then please don’t give up hope. I have sometimes born the full brunt of just how screed people can be. But hey, they aren’t the only pebbles on this beach of people we call the earth- never forget that!
I agree that it would be good to talk to someone-someone close, someone you know. It’s always good to just talk-it helps you unload your frustrations.
Alternatively, I once saw this sentence (or something like it) appearing as a signature for someone in CoN, and I find it the most effective method so far!
“Sometimes when there’s just too much on my mind it helps for me to go AHHHHH!”-Rikku, from FFX-2
Shut the door, lock it and scream into a pillow if someone’s around. After that, I fall asleep. I feel somewhat better after doing that.

Anyway, don't worry too much about it, OK?

It's a problem but at least it's a normal one, particularly among teenagers. Talking to friends who have dealt with similar symptoms, I'd say one of the most important things is fighting the temptation to close yourself off and suffer in silence, that'll just make your problems worse.

Sudden depression is normal it is part of growing up in this piece of crap time we are. Of course, not to offend anyone, but from my experience most people say they are going through depression just for attention and it is not serious. However if you arew someone who is depressed all the time, or at least most of the time, then get help otherwise you have nothing to worry about.

hey bard first of all i would like to say that i feel your pain when you say you suffer from depression
i had it when i was 11-12 (puberty)
the main way to cope with it that i came up with was exercise
lots and lots of exercise
and going out to the beach
or any sunny place you can relax
(for some reqason vitamin D helps)

good luck getting rid of it

Well yeah that's what everyone has been saying, to get help. I don't see how anyone could be depressed for no reason. Could it be boredom? That can be a depressing thing. It also doesn't help if you stay indoors a lot, which is why winter can be so rough. There are many factors that contribute to this sort of thing including ones past and even what they believe in. SB do you see any potential problems with anything I mentioned?

Edit
Ah, Cloud mentioned the outdoors thing too. Nothing else compares to enjoying outdoor activities.

Unexplained depression is usually classified by a chemical imbalance.

I would see someone about this...this does sound to me like signs of a chemical imbalance which my mother has had since I was born ( I don't know if you are born with them or if you develope them). If you have a Chemical Imbalance it can get very very serious if you let it get out of hand and don't do anything about it, through the course of my life my mom has had a number of mental breakdowns an dtryed killing me on a few accounts...I don't think that's something that you really would want to experience so if I were you I would seek the counseling of a phsycologist at least.I'm not saying that you will become a bad person if you don't seek help I'm just giving you an example of how these things turn out sometimes. It is good that you decided to ask for an opinion from at least someone...even if it is people from a website, sometimes all you need is just to talk to someone and know that they care, even if you don't know them. I mean, I have no clue who you are but that doesn't mean I don't care, I never wish anything bad on anyone, especially ppl who have done nothing to wrong me...I just hope things get better for you and if it comes down to it my email address and all of my screen names are listed in my profile, just click on my user name and email me or somethign, I'll reply to you as soon as I can.

lol well here we go another one... alright... it sounds EXTREMELY much like bi-polar... SOMETIMES it helps to talk to someone... i personally have not been diagnosed with bi-polar, but i do believe i have it, i also have about 4, or 5, friends who are bi-polar... so talking people out of killing themselves hase been something that has become a part of everyday life for me... the different between you and my friends you admit that there is no reason that you are depressed, whereas my friends will find the littlest reason and blame it all on that reason... so... yeah... if you get it diagnosed you there are some anti depressants out there for it... my suggestion is to talk to a school councilor...
