Alright, this one should be pretty good... I hope. Anyway, lets say there was a tournament, perhaps without going intoo to much detail, lets say this tournament was composed of something like four, four person parties, and they all faced off. What would the brackets look like, and what which party do u believe would be the victor. And if thats too much work for ya, just put who u think would be the pimp[est] party.

We could copy off of every other FF forum out there and have a voting tournament for solo characters. The only problem with that is it would just be a popularity contest, not a true measure of who's the most powerful character. I can see it now...

Cloud wins, he's the most powerful character ever!
Locke wins, he's the most powerful character ever!
Setzer wins, he's the most powerful character ever!
Zidane wins, he's the most powerful character ever!

Ok I think you get the idea. I was trying to think of a way to simulate real battles between characters but there's no simple way of doing it. One problem is the variances of character power in each FF game. Most agree that FFVI characters are more powerful than those in all other FFs. You'd have to put all FF characters on the same medium in order to have a fair contest, and that doesn't even include the insanely complicated mathematics.

What I think would be great is for some hardcore hacker out there to extract FFVI's battle engine and create an online versus game and maybe include all SNES characters. Then we could have some really fun tournaments to see who can put together the best FF team with the best execution. Well I'll keep dreaming until this hopefully becomes a reality someday. ohmy.gif

I understand what your saying, however the reason why i posted this topic is becuz me and my friends posed each other this question, and seeing how this is simply in theory we balanced the playing field between each of the characters. It was after I made this topic that i realized how worn it actually is. But then I came to the realization, thanks to Dark Paladin that this had already been created which made me feel like a real ass. Thanks for not ostracizing me for making a dumb topic haha, and also, thanks for the input.

Heheh here is what my 4-Person Party would be:

Tidus (FFX) after nearly-completing the sphere grid with him and having around 25,000 HP, all black and white magic(exept auto-life), Auto-Phoenix, and hitting 9999 every turn, combine that with hastega, one MP Cost, and Quick Hit and he will be unstoppable. Tee hee.

Eiko (FFIX) well, very unexpected, her level right now is in the 80's and she has over 400 MP, and know all her summons and almost all white magic.

Terra (FFVI) She is at level 61, has 999 MP, around 5000 HP, has the Excalibur and Scimitar equiped, knows every spell but Merton (Gogo and Mog know it but not her and Edgar) she hits around 7000 with each physical attack, but if I morph her she will be unstopable.

Cloud (FFVII) : He is at level 99(the item glitch rocks), has the master materia equiped, 4-X Cut, Ultima Weapon, and unleashes KOTR (Knights of the round) because he has 999 MP.

That is my 4-person party, but my question is what battle system would be used?

Okay a suggestion to making brackets for a tournament would be to use PowerPoint. There would still be 4-person partys. but there should not be brackets 4 like: warrior, mages, and gunners there should only be 4-person partys!

So are you saying that we pick our 4-person parties and have simulated fights? It's not a very accurate method unless the objective is not to be exact. We could just all vote on which party would win for each battle. It's kinda lame but it could be mildly entertaining. Of course people wouldn't be allowed to vote for their own parties.

I agree with i90... there is no exact way to determine how characters from different games would fare against eachother. It might be fun to play with the idea, though.

Anyway, I think that if I had to choose a 4 character party to represent me in battle I would choose the following (By the way, I am not picking my parties as to how powerful they are as leveling sort of comes into play and thus each of our characters are somewhat relative as looking at all their maxed out stats really isn't much fun at all):

Most of these are not playable character groups, but then again most of my favorite FF characters are not the playable type.... other than a select few like Setzer, Edge, etc.... heh.

Final Kefka and the three statues - Come on, who can ignore the appeal of an insidious, arrogant fallen angel and his 3 cronies, who in themselves are the source of all magic? Definitely my first pick as my team.

The Four Fiends - Rubicant, Milon Z, Cagnazzo, and Valvalis were an über cool group of elementals and were pretty intimidating as far as the way they were presented in the storyline. Rubicant himself was my favorite baddie in FFIV and I think that together the 4 Fiends would be able to deal some damage.

Rufus and (most of)the Turks! - Rufus and his Turks were pretty much my favorite characters in FFVII. Rufus, Tseng, Reno, and Rude or Rufus, Reno, Rude, and Elena would be my most preferable groups.

Edge, Shadow, Yuffie, and Butz in Ninja form - Team Ninja! Wooo!

theves: Locke, Zidane, Rikku, and somewone from FFV in thief getup
summoners: Eiko, Rydia, Yuna, and Garnet/Dagger
Warriors: Cloud, Stiener, Auron or Tidus, and Paine (is she considered a warrior.)
Mages (BLK and WHT): Vivi, Lulu, Eiko, and somewone from FFV in WHT/BLK mage getup.
