These are what character themes I think are the best in all of the Final Fantasy games.

1. Cid's theme: No theme could be any better than Cid's theme from Final Fantasy 7.
2. Kefka's theme: An incredible theme. Perfect in every way.
3. Lenna's theme: How can anyone not like Lenna's theme.
4. Rachel's theme: An incredible theme.
5. Gogo's theme: A very mysterious theme.

Here are characters themes that I like

Jecht's theme FFX
Rachel's theme FFVI
Gau's theme FFVI
Aeris theme FFVII
and finally the Figaro brother's theme

1-Shadow's theme. who could resist a old cinda guiatar music.
2-[is this only to FF? well if it isnt..] MAGUSS TEHME! - cool music
3-Lockes theme. its great

FF6: Terra, Locke, Shadow, Cyan, Setzer, Gogo, Kefka

Honorable mention: Lenna, Moogles (FFV), Exdeath, Gau, Celes, Mog (FFVI), Strago, Relm, Umaro, Marle, Robo, Lavos

FF5: Exdeath battle (probably ranks just second to Dancing Mad!)
FF6: Dancing Mad (tracks 1,3,4)
SMRPG: Smithy gangster, Smithy 1 battle

i think the best piece of rpg music ever is Time's Scar from chrono cross. i know its not a character theme, but i feel it just deserves mentioning.

i agree that cids theme is great, but i like the original better than the remixed, shin-ra 26 version.

forever rachel is probably one of the best pieces uematsu ever did. its probably the most emotional song i can think of that he did.

frog's theme from CT captured the medieval feel very well. magus also had a really great theme.

im also gonna give a thumbs up to locke's theme.


surprisingly, i dont much care for setzer's theme.

I enjoy Frog's theme from CT the most. It's got that great hero feel, and makes you ready to go fight some battle against all odds .

Gau's theme has that sad, innocent feel to it. It's my favorite character theme of FF6, ranking up there with Kefka.

Forever Rachel, Final Boss theme, and Terra's theme are all honorable mentions from FF6.

My favorite of all time is easily Terra's theme.
One Winged Angel is also an uber song, as is Atma's theme.
Another one of my favorites is the regular Final Fantasy theme. I think it's title is "Prelude," or something.
Rachel's song from VI is also very beautiful, and sad.

Man, so many to choose from...

Well, this being an FF6 board, I'll post my top 5 character theme favourites from that game.

5. Gogo - It's such a fun song. I love how it's the theme of the entire Zone Eater.
4. Locke - Triumphant. I love when they escape Figaro on Chocobos and this music plays. It adds so much to the event.
3. Edgar & Sabin - It's so regal sounding, and you get to hear it every time you visit the castle. It suits them both so perfectly.
2. Kefka - It's the perfect villain theme. It suits Kefka's madness very well.
1. Celes - It's just so beautiful! And I love how it doesn't actually become her theme until after the Opera.

Now, that is far from a complete list, but I had to limit it due the the fact that I love a lot of music from the final fantasy games. In fact, I think there's only a few songs I don't like.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Sephiroth's theme yet, it added such a great sense of drama to the awesome FMV scene in the flashback. Also extremely noteworthy was the Kefka theme, got to love the madness.

Zidane's Theme - FFXI; It just fits his character so friggin' well.

Umaro's Theme - FFVI; It doesn't really remind me of him, but it sounds real nice.

Frog's Theme - CT; I think his theme fits his character the best of any song I've heard.

Robo's Theme - CT; It sounds so much cooler in the game than in the midi that I linked to. Robo's theme has a nice techno/futuristic sound to it.

J-E-N-O-V-A - FFVII; The song fit the Jenova battles quite nicely.

Even though Egdar is my favorite character, his theme doesn't fit him as well as others' theme's do.

well, although you said final fantasy in your original post, people have been adding other games' character themes, so i'll do the same

in final fantasy games, i think 6 probably had the best *collection* of character themes (surprisingly, i think it had some of the worst music overall, second to 5...uematu just really did those char themes up right). my favourites from 6, in this order, are terra's (best piece of music in that game, imo), gogo's (so if you don't get to hear it often...it fits his character ), shadow's (another one of those universally-liked pieces of music), cyan's (okay, so it can't really hold a candle to mituda's swordsman music, but the syakuhati in the background makes it seem all the more fitting for a samurai), and kefka's (which also fits him well).

ff7 had some decent character music, too (although the girls' songs seemed to suggest that they were only capable of feminine emotion...). obviously, cid's theme is at the top of the list, and it's probably one of the best pieces in that game. maybe it didn't really fit his character, but perhaps the music was meant to add another dimension to the character that you don't really get to see -- that he was, although a tough-talking badass, really a hero at heart who was willing to risk his life for the planet. red 13's theme is my next favourite, followed by barret's. cait's would be a fourth, but the theme fits the turks better than it does cait still, it's a nice piece of music. i don't think the rest of the character themes from 7 deserve mention.

ff8 didn't have character themes, which is a damn shame, because it had the best music out of the whole series to date. so i'll go to ff9: top of my list would have to be freya's theme. it captured the melancholy story of her character perfectly,and at the same time demonstrated her regalness [regality?]. second would have to be kuja's theme, and a close third, amarant's (that character may have had about as much depth as a xerox paper, but his theme was a good piece of music).

i barely remember the ffx character themes. all i remember is that i liked tidus' theme and rikku's theme, and i didn't particularly care for yuna's. i'm sure i liked auron's theme (anything about that character NOT to like?), but i can't come up with the theme off the top of my head and my little brother has my cd's.

now, onto ct (which may have had the best collection of character music of any game i have played), i liked *all* the character themes, but i'll mention the ones i liked best here. in order: frog, schala, robo, and magus. frog's music remains to this day my favourite character theme from any rpg, and schala's is second . robo and magus' themes fit their characters very nicely and plus they sound cool anyway.

I think I would have to say that Sephiroth's theme and the Turks' theme run about the same for favs. on my list Cid was up there tooalthough no it didn't fit his character it was still really awesome...as far as Seph goes,I'd have to say that I liked one winged angel better (from the end fight) than his other theme song...I forget what it's called but it takes place in Nibelheim usually.

CT, Frog's theme. I just finished the game 2 days ago, so I must post my thoughts. Truly powerful and fitting to the character.

Number One theme is most definatly Kuja's theme...the elegant piano music left me in awe as the FMV came up where Kuja was looking over Zidane, Vivi, and Freya in triumph. After about 2 minutes I finally snapped out of my trance (no pun intended) and put in the next disk.
