Well I figured that FFVI should have a sequel, because I have been curious on what would happen after the game, and no the game won't be like FFX-2. If Square decides to make a sequel to the game, maybe they would put it on the Playstation Portable (PSP) and have the graphics look a bit better that FFVI (I don't think giving it extremely good graphics is the best idea, and puting it on the PS2 or GCN would be a bit worse.) Feel free to put your own ideas in this topic.

While it seems like a good idea, and it would sell a lot, I don't think they could ever get it right in the eyes of old school FFVI fanboys, myself included. Much as I would love a continuation of one of the best games ever, I think it would just cheapen the SNES-era FFs at this point.
Sometimes, if you love something enough, you have to let it go. ![]() That being said, I'd still buy it. And play it. A lot. |

If there is a sequel(wich there wont), the plot would be cheesy. What else was there to do in that game? Nothing. Sure there could be some creative minds out there that could come up with something, but it wont happen. Most of the time sequels arnt good anyways.

The three popular ideas for an FFVI follow-up are a prequel, a sequel or a remake of the original game. Heh, it's too bad you didn't make a poll with these 3 choices. Well let's analyse:
Prequel: A game set during the original War of the Magi would actually have very little to do with FFVI. None of the original characters would exist. The only things that would carry over are spells, weapons, relics (maybe) and town names. Plus the story would be the same as FFVI's story, which wouldn't allow for much plot creativity and freedom. Sequel: FFVI did a good job of wrapping up the story once and for all, so a sequel would really have to stretch in order to bring back evil and magic. It would be nice to see the original characters along with new ones, but what evil could possibly arise right after the second war? The world has been through enough and another war right after the FFVI one would just get ridiculous. Remake: I think this is the best option. Square could introduce new aspects to the story and develope the characters more while going right along with the original story. It's the best of both worlds. As long as Square doesn't destroy the gameplay this can be executed very well an be a nice compliment to the original game. I also think there should be two levels of difficulty, normal and hard. -------------------- FFXI (Siren server) Tauu the Windurstian Tarutaru! White Mage & Paladin |

A sequal would be nice. It could have more sprites tho. I liked the ff6 sprites. It could be about the return of magic..... or the war of figaro and doma cause most likely doma is gonna be remade and figaro and doma could have a war over land.. I dun know. There should at least be more mystey solving (like who gogo is)

Well maybe they could tell what happens between that year when Celes was asleep and they could focus on specific characters, but the may call it FFVI 1/2 or something.

I highly doubt there would be a war between Figaro and Doma, seeing as how the King of Figaro and the (most likely) new King of Doma are friends. If there was going to be a war, it would have to be a long way in the future because the kingdoms would be allies for a very long time given the situation.
I entirely disagree with any sequel ideas. The story was wrapped up perfectly. The only thing more that could potentially be shown is the rebuilding/recovering that the world had to go through, but that's about it. That's something that could be added to the end of a remake, which I think would be a great idea. Even if it's just a graphical enhancement and/or a translation/bug fix and a GBA release, it would be great. They could finally fix the stupid evade bug. I know there are patches for ROMs, but it's not the same as playing it on your SNES. Although, the evade bug DOES make the game a bit harder, since fairly early on your Evade reaches values like 30%. That's a pretty big evade rate, considering you block/evade moves at a reasonable rate with 10% MBlock. But anyway, that's off topic. ![]() -------------------- --sbq92 <>< |

Aww hell... a sequel and/or a prequel would really bite. The way that FFVI was is that all the 14 characters were together at the same time. You couldn't really have a sequel or a prequel that could include all of those characters. Even if they could, they'd have to concentrate on getting them all to the same point in the game, instead of concentrating on making the gameplay and stoty line good.
So, like others before me, I'd choose a remake. The only problem is that SquarEnix would most definitely make in in PS2/PS3 graphics, instead of making another SNES-like game. So let's just leave the game the way it is, hmm? If it's made again, it will only be for money. ![]() Oh yeah, and the notion that Figaro and Doma will or ever have been enemies is totally ludicrous, IMO. If they were enemies, they would have had a conflict between Edgar and Cyan in the game. It just plain wouldn't be in the future because they have long-lasting bonds of friendship after Edgar and Cyan fought together to save the world. I would like to see something like FF6: Platinum
Basically, take the original game and fix up the very few things that were wrong and could use improvement. Add in a few extra weps/side quests. They don't need to change an awesome game. I'd like Evade% to work and have more character dialogue. Maybe add in a hidden super boss (like the Czar Dragon). |

I think I would most likely enjoy the prequel. It would elaberate on the points of ffvi's history and give you more of a feeling for the game. Saying that I think the game would be better off left alone. Seriously I wouldn't want to see something I like so much ruined.

A War of the Magi prequel would rock. It would be distant from FFVI and they'd have a lot of freedom with it - it'd be an entirely new game in an old world. Also, considering how much magic mashed the world up before...the world map needn't even be the same. they could pull a Lufia 2-4.

I like the prequel idea the most, but I'd rather that they not even touch it.
I've been saying this a lot but, i90, they could have Gogo in a prequel, and yes the War of the Magi would be a sweet topic. However, we all know just how the War of the Magi is going to turn out, so.... they should leave it alone. I think the idea of a prequel to FF6 would be a really great idea, but it's true that it would never be as cool as the original or even be able to please the most diehard of fans. No one seems to have brought up the fact that Espers could play huge parts in this game too, these things have always just been really sweet. Also this game could provide a little more backround on the Ancient City in the WoR, which has always just intrigued me.

The plot might go like this: Terra grabs a couple of hand guns and runs around with Relm and some new girl in search of "dress spheres". Meanwhile, we find out Celes is pregnant and is settling down with Lock

There could be no sequel. Magic is dead.
As for a prequel... why? I mean, the game FF6 is self-contained. I agree with that FF6 platinum idea... that would be sweet... but hard not to piss some of us fanboys off. -------------------- "Nothing can beat the music of hundreds of voices screaming in unison!" - Kefka |

Ejoty, the fact that we'd know how things turn out shouldn't be an issue. We're living in an age of prequels. Look at Star Wars. Most people thinnk they've been horribly made, but they are still raking in millions of dollars, partly because it's Star Wars, but also because it's seeing the events that lead up to the part of the series that we all know so well. Dune is another example of prequels (they are done much better than the Star Wars prequels, though).

Ejoty: they could put Gogo in a War of the Magi prequel if they claimed that X-Zone would forward you in time by a thousand years.

Maybe if there is sequel it could wind up like FFX-2, but then almost no one will like it. And for graphics newer ones would be a bad idea. Interesting joke you made Strideo about what an FFVI-2 would be like.

A sequil would be nice but it would lack a deep plot. Here is an amazing link to sumthin along those lines though.
