Alright, for some reason whenever I try to open or get anything from the floppy A drive (like trying to access my homework from a disk), it says "You do not have access to the folder 'A:\'. See your administrator for access." I mean, I've done everything I could think of, but there's nothing I can do to get rid of that damn message so I cant even access my disk. This is very aggravating and any help would be greatly appreciated.

To find that she wasn't here, I'm still all alone

It most likely means the drive is dead, contrary to the misleading message. Try buying a new one — they're dirt cheap (hence the crappy workmanship) and easy to fit in most cases: just unscrew, disconnect and pull out the old one, and slot the new one in where it was and connect it the same way.

If you do want to make sure it's not something to do with lacking admin power, if you're using Windows 2000 or Windows XP, try logging in as "Administrator" and see if that lets you do anything. Unfortunately, the account might have a password that you wouldn't necessarily know, and it can actually be relatively tricky to get in as Adminstrator under XP. I think you need to press Ctrl+Alt+Del at the Welcome screen for the classic login box, and enter Administrator as the username there.

Well the thing is, this same thing was happening a few months ago. My mom called a computer guy that came and fixed it, seemingly in no time at all. He never said just what he did though. So I'm just as stumped as I was before.

The Administrator type-in just keeps asking for a password, like you said. No clue what it might be.

Have you tried an Anti-virus program? That might be it. Or try to disable the admin password.

How many user accounts are on you're computer?

Yeah, I barely post.

No, anti-virus has nothing to do with it. On the welcome screen (XP), there is only one user to click on (my name). No guest or anything like that either.

The default windows password for the administrator, at least on every version of windows i've used, is (try not to forget!) :

password

Yep, pretty tricky. Try it, that's what mine was.
