I'm new to submitting Fanfics...but this is mine. It's called the Call to Duty, and trust me, it has a plot. It's set one day after the game ends. I hope you enjoy it, and if you want me to continue, please say.
The Day After the New Beginning… Figaro Castle Tower: Locke stood silent, watching the horizon as the magenta sun left behind any trace it had existed. His locks of grey hair soared in the wind. He smiled and turned around as he felt a delicate, cold hand slip into his. Celes. “Celes, I…†he began, but faltered. This time Celes smiled. She placed a finger to his lips to silent him. “You don’t need to.†This time it was her who smiled. The thief reached up to his head and voraciously tore off his bandana and let it flutter away with the relieving gust. Like a bird… …and at that very same time, a familiar seagull flapped overhead and headed towards Kohlingen, passing a strange figure draped in orange, yellow and green robes as it returned to its old life as a recluse… Figaro Castle Throneroom: Downstairs, festivities were abundant. King Figaro smiled in the Throne Room as the Chancellor spoke to him hurriedly but excitedly, then departed just as swiftly. His brother, Sabin, stood by him. “Come, Sabin,†Edgar grinned. “For me.†The other Figaro twin returned the grin, and nodded. “Fine, but just this once; it’s not my scene.†And although he disliked the responsibility, Sabin felt joy to be reunited with his brother for the first time in an age of peace as he slipped a smaller but just as regal crown upon his blonde head and sat himself down on the thrown next to his brother. Prince Sabin, but for one day only… Main Figaro Castle: Even further downstairs, more merriment was present. The crowd cheered as a wild boy with green hair made an frenzy of dances on a table. He looked out of place in his small child’s suit and tie, but still Gau did not complain. On a different table, another crowd encircled two equally competitive heroes in a card game. Setzer threw back his grey hair and grinned. “What’ve you got?†The furry and cheerful pallid moogle beamed ecstatically and threw his cards down. “Royal Flush, I win.†Claimed Mog. And although he had just lost for the first time in eons, Setzer laughed. Cyan was there also, sitting at a table with Lola from Maranda. “L…l…ola…†he began. “Yes, Cyan?†smiled Lola. “Y…you…you make me the happiest I’ve been s…since my wife…p…passed on…and…and I was wondering…†“Yes?†said Lola. Cyan took a deep breath. All or nothing. We live for risks, he had learnt that from Setzer. “W…will you marry me?†Lola was not shocked. “Yes!†she cried happily, throwing her arms round Cyan Garamonde. Cyan smiled. Not too far away, at the punch table, Strago and Relm were enjoying themselves, with a weary Interceptor asleep by the old blue mage’s feet. Strago was busy drinking his weight in punch, and Relm busy trying to stop him. “Grandpa, I think you’ve had enough punch for now…†“Nonsense!†cried Strago fervently. “I may be old but I can still party like the rest of ‘em! Providing my bad hip doesn’t give out, of course…†“Oh, you ARE a fuddy duddy!†sighed Relm, blowing her fringe away from her face and putting her hands on her hips. Very soon, two regal figures strode through the doors upstairs into the main castle, one handsome and regal while one handsome and muscley. The King and the Prince mingled with the crowds and chatted occasionally, but it was not long before Edgar noticed someone out of place. A beautiful girl with curly green hair was sitting on a table, alone, with tears in her eye. Edgar signaled to the orchestra. The lights dimmed and the music became a slow, romantic melody. “Would you like this dance, m’lady?†asked Edgar, extending his hand. Terra shook her head. “I..i’m sorry Edgar. I’m too…I can’t right now.†Edgar nodded, and silently walked away. Locke and Celes returned from upstairs and embraced, letting the music take them. Relm left her grandpa to his alcoholic endeavors to dance with an elated Gau, while Lola and Cyan soared in their newfound passion. Mog charmed the crowds with his love sonata and Sabin and Umaro compared muscles. Everything had turned out fine…or had it? -------------------- "Luck is my middle name. Oh man, no fanfiction has ever made me feel so good as this one did. This is awesome. The only think that doesn't really make sense to me is why Cyan would propose to someone he only just met in the flesh recently. I suppose he would have gotten to know her kinda, but only because he was...
Possible spoilers: highlight to view ...posing as her dead boyfriend. I'd really like to see some more Edgar/Terra interaction. That'd be some great stuff. And also Edgar and Sabin. That was really cool, too. There are a bunch of parts in this that made me laugh, like Strago, who's had too much punch, and Mog, where he beats Setzer in cards. ![]() The only problem is that I don't see any more. ![]() -------------------- Wow. 1,000 posts. I think that was nice and rather touching. I think I'd like to see more as well.
I have an off topic question, kinda. I see you didn't mention Shadow. You see I've never seen the ending where you get all of Shadow's dreams and I heard that if you get all his dreams he doesn't stay behind in the destructing Kefka's Tower. If this is true are you going off the story line that he stayed behind? And if this is not true could someone tell me what happens if you get all of Shadow's dreams. You think I would have been able to do it at least once considering I've gone through the game about 5 times. Ok, the continuation. Hopefully I answered the questions you wanted to know. After this bit, things start to get a bit more interesting.
Gradually, the jollity began to dim and all those gathered from South Figaro, Kohlingen and the castle itself returned to their homes for a warm sleep. But the heroes still remained, loitering in the Throne Room. No one spoke much, because words could not convey the sadness they knew they would have to feel... Eventually, King Edgar broke the silence. “You know…this is the first time of peace I, or any of you have ever lived in. But the sad thing is, I will not be able to enjoy it without you lot by my side. Before I decided to help the Returners I just felt like a King, mudded down in the pit of responsibility.†Sabin’s eyes flashed with empathy. He, too, had felt like that once, before the coin toss of fate which had chosen both their destinies… “But being with you; having such a meaningful purpose other than watching over a strong kingdom made me feel alive. More alive than I have felt for a long while. Sure; we may have lost many friends and loved ones along the way, people we cherished and learnt to care for. Banon, Arvis, the moogles…†he turned his head towards Locke and Lola but they did not notice. “Lost loves. Why, even Shadow forfeited his life for our cause.†At the name of Shadow, Interceptor opened his eyes for the first time in a while and looked around, but his master was not there. Relm bent down and rubbed him behind the ear, but no matter how much he could grow to like his master’s daughter, nothing would be the same. “As I said and as we all know, this is a time of peace. Not the time for moping and dwelling on lost lives. For surely they are in a better place, looking down on us. I ask you now; friends, comrades – go now, return to your lives as they were before this infernal war and be happy.†He stood up and raised his glass. “Cheers!†There were murmurs of ‘Cheers’, ‘Kupos’ and ‘Ugs’ without much joy. But the party had finished, and no-one felt like celebrating. “I will give you all rides home, if you wish…†said a disappointed Setzer, almost a tear in his eye. Most of those gathered nodded, and left the room to find the Falcon. Relm gave up supporting the drunk old man, and, once again, left him to stumble in the general direction of the door before falling into a drunken stupor. She turned to Gau. “You know, I think you’re pretty cool, Gau.’ She beamed, placing him a peck on the cheek. “Vwaooh!†cheered Gau, running around in a circle. Relm grinned, and bade him farewell before dragging Strago out the door by his cloak, a somnolent dog in their wake. Locke and Celes left in silence, both still reminiscing on lost lives yet their love most vibrant within that room, Locke’s grey hair flowing freely for the first day in a long while, and Celes devoid of sword or shield. War only breeds war, then surely peace can breed peace? “Lola, will you return to Doma with me? I plan to return the kingdom to its former self, no matter how long it will take.†“Anything for you, Cyan.†Smiled Lola, as she ran ahead, feeling the giggling affects of love for the second time. Cyan turned around. Sitting alone and pulling off his awkward suit to reveal the leotard underneath, was Gau. Lola reminded Cyan of his dearly departed wife, but Gau… “Owain.†He murmured to himself. “Master Gau, how would thou like to accompany me and Miss Lola to Doma; surely you are tired of the Veldt already?†Gau grinned and danced around. “Vwaooh! Mr Thou! Mr Thou!†The little critter scampered up to Cyan, hugged his legs and leapt out the door. Cyan could not replace his dead family, but he could start afresh with ones he loved. Before Terra could leave, Edgar place a hand on her shoulder. “Terra, I’m…I’ve never seen the pain you must be going through. If there’s anything I can…?†She smiled through the tears for the first time and patted his hand. “No, I’m sorry Edgar. I shouldn’t be moping, this is a time of peace. But I’m heading for Mobliz right now to be with the children. I’d like to stay in touch with you.†And then she left. “You know, it’s gonna be pretty lonely at Narshe with just the two of us, kupo.†Sighed Mog to Umaro, as the two headed for the door. “No other yetis, no other moogles. No female moogles to impress with my funky dancing…†“Ug.†Was the reply, “Well, at least we’ve got each other, right Umaro?†“Yes, boss.†And so the twain departed. “Sabin, won’t you stay at Figaro Castle for a while longer – take your rightful position as Prince?†inquired Edgar, turning to his brother. Sabin shook his head. “Sorry, bro, but I told you. I can’t do the prince thing. I’m happy enough just being Sabin.†“Then where will you go?†asked Edgar, feeling slightly despondent. “I’m going to pay a visit to an old man.†Grinned Sabin, before embracing the King and leaving for a life as a martial artist. And when only the lone King remained, the group of heroes were reunited with the falcon as one by one, they left the ship and their old friends behind. On the top of the Falcon, Locke removed his favourite relic – the Hero Ring. Celes was downstairs doing her best to console an upset Terra. “I’m no hero…†grumbled Locke. “So many people died. Banon, my old friend Arvis – Shadow. I couldn’t even save Shadow in that tower…†And he let go. It was a sad sight, to see those heroes devoid of any heroic feelings returning to their lives as if it was the same as it was before. But nothing would be the same. And Gogo knew that too, as just before him, a golden ring dropped into a river and was lost in the currents. Heroes indeed. -------------------- "Luck is my middle name. Quote (MogMaster @ 17th February 2004 10:38) Whoa Noce One Iggy. But whats the Deal with GOGO? What about im? The story doesn't reveal his/her true identity, that still remains a mystery. But he wasn't at the party, when the airship took everyone to Figaro Castle Gogo left, and who knows where he's headed? Okay, continuation. After this, some of the characters will be out of the story forever. The gales blew harsher as the very firmament seemed to be enraged with the Falcon. It buffeted and shoved and punted the machine with all its efforts, but Setzer merely smiled at the helm. He enjoyed a challenge. And so did Daryl - it had been a challenge which had killed her. He, Setzer, had killed her. Everyone seemed to have recieved relief from the undoing of Kefka; everyone else had places to go and people to be with. Even Gau now had a home in Doma, thanks to Cyan. But was this all Setzer would ever be? A chauffer, a madman with his home in the skies with noone but himself for company? Terra was upset, granted, but she had the children of Mobliz for comfort, Locke and Celes had each other; as did Cyan, Lola and Gau. Relm had gained Interceptor, and Mog and Umaro still had each other. But how had Setzer benefitted? Sometimes, when anger welled up inside him so much, he felt like losing control of his airship for the first time ever, to be with Daryl... Daryl... “Mama!†cried the children, as they gathered round Terra and hugged her in desperation. “Mama, we’ve missed you!†“Mama, never leave again!†“I won’t, I promise.†Smiled Terra, stroking one of the children on their heads. She knelt down and beckoned for them all to come closer. “Everything’s ok now. The bad man has been stopped and I’m going to stay here to look after you little tykes and Katrin, no matter what.†“Yay!†cried the elated children, hugging her in turn. Duane and a stout Katrin entered the main room from their bedroom, with several more children skipping at their feet, but Terra was too happy to greet them. She had somewhere to belong in this age of peace. But no matter how at home she felt, she had lost her father after knowing he existed for such a short time… …Maduin… Duncan coughed and wheezed violently, but clenched his fists in defiance. “Are you going to be okay, master?†asked Sabin. The two were sat in the back garden behind Duncan’s house, meditating in serenity. “Oh, I’ll be fine, Sabin.†Wheezed the Blitz master. “I survived the end of the world, didn’t I? A mere cough’s got nothing on me!†The two grinned, although Sabin was unsure. He had never before seen his Master in such an unpleasant state. It was Duncan who had taught Sabin to be resilient, and without Duncan’s guidance on the ways of the martial artist, Sabin would have been destroyed even before he had chance to lend a hand to the Returners. Duncan… And as the tranquil waves lapped against the beach upon Solitary Island, Locke and Celes stood, gazing over a cliff. Locke could have sworn he saw some peculiar bird soaring in the breeze, in the shape of some sort of handkerchief… “This is where Cid nurtured me for one whole year…†sighed Celes. “He brought me back to health. Granddad. But I couldn’t do the same for him…†And as Locke hugged her he realized the bird was not a bird, but a bandana. Relm opened the door of their home, to allow an inebriated Strago to roll inside. The old mage had lost any dwindling dignity when he had removed his pants on the airship and had made a poor attempt at imitating Mog’s snowman jazz. Then he had vomited off the side of the Falcon. Interceptor followed, his tail dragging along the floor and his ears low. Without any hesitation, he walked into a corner, sat down and closed his eyes. “It’s okay boy.†Smiled Relm, stroking him on the head. “Me and Grandpa will look after you now. Thamasa is your new home.†There was a heavy thud as Strago hit the floor a second time, but she ignored it. “Y’know…it’s a shame what happened to Shadow, Interceptor, but we can’t dwell on it forever, y’know?†Interceptor wagged his tail to please Relm, but when she smiled and ran upstairs to her bedroom, his ears flattened again and he began to whine quietly. And as the airship fought the tempest’s rage, Setzer had time to contemplate. He had never really been at peace with himself since Daryl’s death. Peace was abundant, and the war was finally over, but he had noone to enjoy it with. Setzer was, like he had always been and always would be; alone. After he had passed the thermals over the sea, he ducked through the clouds and gazed at the countryside. The sky was his oyster… For the briefest of seconds, Setzer fancied he caught a glimpse of orange, tinged with yellow and green, but it was gone before his mind has even recognized it. Near Kohlingen:
Gogo continued forwards, braving the weather like his ex-comrade was miles above him. He had no reason to enjoy an age of peace. He should have died long ago, and he did not deserve redemption. Gogo, the mystery. Friends with no-one; a recluse. That was all he ever would be, and that was all he ever wanted, besides death. He remembered the day when Kefka had been destroyed. His mind had told him to stay; to finally embrace death like bats embrace the night. Why could he not be given that simple pleasure? But he had moved, out of habit. His limbs had rallied up all the strength that remained beneath those iridescent robes, and he had fled like a coward. Towards life. Towards something he didn’t want, let alone deserve. He stepped over a small brook, and continued moving. He gazed up into the sky for the briefest of moments to see what looked like a darker cloud, moving at a tremendous speed. It reminded him of something, but he shook the feeling off and continued ambling forwards. There was a crunch of leaves. It wasn’t him who made the noise. He looked around, but the wood he was pacing through seemed to be devoid of any life except for him. He eyes the shadows carefully, and saw a figure darker than the ordinary patch of darkness… The arrow shot straight towards his face. But Gogo had honed his skills, after all that time of sitting in the dank cave on Triangle Island. He flung one hand in front of him at light speed, which knocked the side of the arrow and forced it to hurtle safely into his other hand. He aimed carefully and within a second it was flying back the way it had come. He was a master mimic, after all. There was a thunk and a yell of pain. He went over to the tree to investigate, and was not surprised. The wolf-man was pinned against the tree by his trousers. The hunter had become the hunted. “Lone Wolf.†grinned Gogo beneath the helmet. “I could have figured it was you. You weren’t trying to PICKPOCKET me, were you?†he raised an eyebrow. “Maybe, what’s it to you?!†snarled the wolfman. Gogo rolled his eyes, and walked away. He didn’t have the time for this. He wanted to reach his destination… And inside his head, as he lumbered along, he began to chant some old tune with no particular significance. Figaro Castle Throneroom: Edgar sat at the throneroom, tapping his fingers to some unknown melody deep within his mind. His thoughts were on his friends. Most of them he would never see again. Maybe he would be able to invite some of them over to a royal gathering, but how would he get an invite to Mog and Umaro? Heck, he had no idea where Gogo went. And yet that wasn’t what worried him most. His thoughts were on Terra. She had been controlled by the Empire for most of her life, and had only just found out her father was alive and well. And then she had been told she could never see him again. The tune continued, but this time it was slow and harmonic, but conveyed all the sadness inside. Once upon a time, he had enjoyed being King. All the leadership, all the power. It wasn’t just about the power, of course. He wasn’t like Kefka. It was about having an entire population look up to him, and respect him. He enjoyed that. And once the women had been a plus. King Edgar, the womanizer. But how could he even think about flirting with another lady, when all he could think about was Terra. Maybe he could pay her a visit? He sighed, and leaned back as the Chancellor entered the throne room through the double doors. “Just another day as King†was all he said as he inspected the regal castle walls. Doma Castle Entrance: “Vwaooh!†screamed Gau, as he flew full force towards the castle and was lost inside its extensive space. Cyan turned to Lola just as the little critter vanished, and sighed. He touched her cold face, and held her right hand. “We haven’t known each other for very long, Lola…†he began. “Long enough for me to know I love you Cyan!†she smiled blissfully. “And you and me can grow old together within these magnificent walls if it’s what you really want.†“That I do, Lola.†The two gazed down in delight at the gleaming ring upon Lola’s finger, portraying their passion and love for one another. Mobliz Terra inspected her Wall Ring with tiredness as she sat in bed. It was old now and dusty, even though its usefulness had ended only two days ago. Weariness rallied not just everyone of her limbs, but every aspect of her mind, too. Love had bound her to the planet, and she was grateful for that. She loved all the children dearly, as well as Katrin and Duane, but…she wanted to be with her father. Where was he now? Was he dead? When all the magic had ceased to exist, had it eradicated her father and any remaining Espers? Or had they left to rebuild the Sealed World of the Espers? Too many questions, so little answers… And as she lay back even more onto her soft pillow, fatigue consumed her and she opened her eyes to be with her father. A beautiful green village, with Esper children and Espers being at one with peace. She felt relieved as she felt the soft touch of her father’s hand on her cheek, and his deep but gentle voice. “I will always love you Terra, wherever I am. Remember that.†“I will…†she said, “…but I want to stay here. I want to be with you, father. I love you.†But Maduin said no more, and instead stroked her head in consolation. And then she heard the sweet voice of the one who could only be her mother, Madonna Branford. “Be strong, my darling. You are special, whether you have powers or not, because you are our little girl…†and she turned in an attempt to see her mother for the first time – to touch her, to speak to her, but she was not there. “Mother? Mother?†she would cry. “Please mother, where did you go?†She turned round to her father, Maduin, but he was gone also. “Father?†she yelled, tears streaming from her eyes. And slowly the Esper world began to fade – the happy, smiling Esper children and Espers turned to malicious Empire grunts. Biggs and Wedge were standing there, insulting her and jiving here. “Hey Esper girl! Where are your parents, Esper girl?†And she burst into tears and tried to run…to run from the Empire, but her legs wouldn’t move her. “Let me go!†she cried in desperation. “I won’t…leave me! Mother! Father! Help me!†but as she gazed upwards into the blood red sky, she knew her mother and father were gone. “Kill the brat!†spat Kefka, appearing from thin air. “She deserves nothing, a venomous little hybrid she is! Destroy her where she stands!†And then Gestahl’s voice, and two old, burly hands reaching down to take her: “Come now, Terra, we’ve been waiting for you!†She tried to scream, but as she inhaled her lungs were filled with the iniquity of the Empire and all she wanted was her parents. “No…no…No…†was all she could murmur as the hands drew closer. “NOOOOOO!†She opened her eyes. Duane was standing at the foot of her bed, with a worried expression on his face. Many of the kids were gathered round; some were crying and some looked shocked. “Mama, you’re awake!†cried Tommy, one of the kids. He wrapped his arms around her and hugged her, and only then did she realize she was covered in a cold sweat. “Are you okay?†asked Duane, the worried expression still lingering. “I’m….I’ll be fine…†she feigned a smile. -------------------- "Luck is my middle name. Wow, a lot of great fanfictions going around today. Okay, so here's the next part of mine. Comment and suggestions and all that are welcome.
Narshe: The snow was bitter, and nipped at the skin like sharp fangs, but Mog couldn’t have been happier to bask in the glorious Narshe weather. His golden pompom fluttered delicately like a sunflower above his head as he somersaulted in the snow. Narshe was deserted and still as dilapidated as it was since their last visit, but it was now at peace. Narshe was not completely obliterated – it had been given the chance to start anew in a world without magic or corruption. A land without Kefka, or power. The silent chiming of the snowflakes as they hit the ground already ashen ground was like music to the moogle’s ear, but as they moved closer and closer to their home the music began to fade and wither. Moogle Village… “It used to be so vibrant, so cheerful, Umaro.†Sniffed the moogle, as he looked upon his old home. “Kushu, Kurin, Kuru, Kamog, Kuku, Kutan, Kupan, Kupek, Kupop, Kumama and…Moruru.†Umaro lowered his head and nodded, letting his grip slide on his almighty Bone Club slightly. It was a time of peace… The moogle reached up to his neck and removed the moogle charm around it, and held it aloft within the cavern. “It…it was an heirloom of the Narshe moogle family…†Mog sighed, his pompom bending town towards his nose, like a wilting flower. “The family is gone.†And with little effort, the tough but minute creature hurled the valuable jewel at full force towards the cave wall. It smashed, and small shards of glass flew to the ground and embedded themselves within it, but Mog didn’t care anymore. He was long past caring. He was alone... And for the first time since he was a tiny little mooglet, the ordinarily cheerful and dynamic creature cried… Kefka has used me... used the Empire. What have I done...? The life-energy of those Espers... You've helped me come to a decision. I'm going to talk to the Emperor and have this stupid war stopped! Celes... I've known her since she was a baby. I raised her as if she was my own daughter! But she was forced to become a Magitek Knight, and has done some awful things. If I could only talk to her... I'd apologize for the way her life has turned out “Granddad…you were a kind man at heart…and the Empire sucked you in and bled you dry just because of your intelligence. You did terrible things, you drained Espers of their life-energy but I was a General. I did worse things. Why then, did I live and why did you die, Cid? You weren’t given enough chance to right your wrongs and if only you were here now… I love you, Granddad.†Albrook: The woman throws back her beautifully silky red hair and walks through the dark streets of moonlit Albrook. Her purse clasped in her smooth hands, she enjoys the fine, refreshing breeze that seems to blow across the entire globe after the catastrophe that was Kefka’s undoing; as if it were cleansing the world from the corruption that had so easily caught it by the throat and garroted it. Footsteps. Not hers. She seems tense, but walks on and throws back her hair once more as if to disregard she ever heard anything. But more footsteps, and a loud clang followed by the silence of stealth. She hurries onwards, her feet taking her in the direction that seems to pull her to safety. She clutches her purse even more; she is afraid. Louder footsteps behind her. She does not dare look back, but hastens even more. Her heart is beating almost as much as it was before the true age of peace was realized… More footsteps, but at a higher pace….and a slam, and a scream. The scream fades into nothing. An age of peace? Heroes? Joy? -------------------- "Luck is my middle name. Kohlingen:
When the first – more sinister of your two lives was spent causing pain, destruction and being a sinner; and when your second life was accustomed to righting those wrongs through any pain, torment and despair… …what do you do next? “What do we do next, Locke?†sighed Celes, as they gazed into the newfound serenity that was Kohlingen. The ex-general was not as attractive as she had been before the end of the world; the coma had changed her. But she was even worse now. It the age of peace and brand new joy, the sadness and grief which had followed her allowed itself to bubble to her surface. Her hair was no longer neat, but unkempt and screened in dirt and debris. Her eyes were puffy and bloodshot from the tears, and the skin below damp and reflective from where her flesh had absorbed the fluid. She stood, hand in glove with the ex-thief lacking in bandana or grin. He, too, had been thinking… After Kefka’s reign had officially been concluded, (almost two days ago now), the hope that had once dwindled had flourished throughout the many continents. Albrook remained a shadow of what it was before, but nevertheless townspeople had continued rebuilding the architecture with more ardor than ever before. Those who had given up on their towns and had chosen to live the recluse life or had settled within the Colosseum to hone their skills had returned to the towns which had not been badly wounded such as Thamasa and Nikeah, or Jidoor. Zozo had been abandoned – or from first glance, anyway. Most of the thieves and bandits had dispersed to the aforementioned settlements to avoid “slim pickin’sâ€. Lone Wolf had been heard to take a great ascension within the ranks of the crime industry, although remained a carefree, wandering spirit. And for Locke, the experience had changed him. He was not a man of morals, and knew he never would be – but although he would miss the good old days that treasure hunting had brought him, he had taken that path for a reason. To save his love; and now he had a new one. He no longer needed to brush arms with moogle-napping “thieves†such as Lone Wolf. Money was not an issue, either. The team, before the split, had been officially wealthy. Lone Wolf would have given both his legs for all the money they had accumulated when monster slaying. Strago had been giddy at the concept of drinking his lungs out with succulent alcohol. Terra had taken a large share for her and the children, Sabin had taken some for him and Duncan, Strago and Relm had taken a small share, Celes and Locke had taken a bit to begin new lives, Cyan, Gau and Lola had taken another large division to rebuild Doma… Gogo had gone… Setzer had refused, as had Edgar… Mog and Umaro had seen no reason why to take any. “I don’t know,†Locke shrugged. “Go where the wind takes us; take it as it comes!†he gestured, throwing his arms out wide, emphasizing the expanses of Kohlingen. “Of course, we don't want to ruin the habit of a lifetime?†said Celes, jokingly, as they seated themselves and watched the wispy clouds float past delicately. The airship descended slowly, and Setzer gazed over the prow from the helm. The sky was so beautiful…like the ocean, with feathery clouds the sky counterparts of dolphins. It pierced through the bottom of the clouds and the gambler’s clothes were soggy but he didn’t mind. The view of the ground became clearer now…he had been here before, hovering over the Phoenix Cave. But that’s the problem with living in the sky. Sooner or later, you’ve been everywhere. But…there was something that caught his eye. As his head of white locks turned to glimpse it down below – a blaze or recollection flamed in his mind. The orange creature he had witnessed before was there; shuffling along at a slow pace. Where had he seen it before? The Falcon lowered even more, its nose facing downwards. Setzer left it hanging, and ran to the prow. He waved his arms radically, allowing the wind to catch his open sleeves and attempt to drag them backwards. “Gogo! GOGO! Wait!†cried the gambler. The orange clad figure turned around, glowered, then turned back again. Setzer could not understand. Gogo had seemed so fervent when he had signed up with the team… The airship descended and finally landed on the ground. Setzer leapt off and ran after Gogo, but he seemed to be so far away… “Gogo, why didn’t you come to the party?†asked the gambler when he finally caught up – out of breath. Gogo did not turn around this time, but continued to amble forwards. “Let’s just say I’m not a jolly man.†The mimic retorted hastily. “Parties aren’t my scene.†But this time, he didn’t turn back around. Instead, his eyes widened in what looked like distress. He was looking above Setzer. And suddenly a gargantuan shadow loomed over the civilian of the sky. He could tell it was not his day… -------------------- "Luck is my middle name.
