Okay, i know you people say that archers are not all that great in FFT, but i have a strong belief that i can make one that does AT LEAST 500 damage per shot. Ok, but i'm going to need all the help that i can get.

I think that the battle mechanics for the damage of the bow is determined by *speed *physical Attack *Brave and *Bow

Now, i decided that it's much more useful for my archer to have speed + equipment than Physical Attack + equipment, because speed is added to physical attack to determine damage.

So, i'm going to wear Theif Hat, Secret Clothes, Perseus bow

Those are a must i think...

Now, the question is, don't i gain extra PA points in certain classes? or Speed points in certain classes, like they increase as i level up?

Well, that's the kind of help i need... so anyone that knows a lot about archers help me out.

You can get extra speed points levelling up in the Ninja or Thief classes. Not sure about physical attack, but I would guess that a Monk would have high PA growth since their attack depends so much upon it.

First of all, you're right about the attack formula for a bow attack : it does indeed depend on PA, Speed and Bow Strength, it does not however depend on Brave (only a few attacks depend on it : Bare Hands, Knight Swords and Katanas). If I remember correctly, the formula itself is : WnPwr x (PA + Sp)/2
Now, as Goz said, the Mime have the highest PA raise by a small advance : next come the Knight and Lancer, then the Ninja and Samouraï. BUT : the Ninja has as Neal aptly said the highest Speed raise, so it would be a good idea to perform the Level Up/Down trick, by going down as a Bard (as they have the lowest PA raise), and level up then as a Ninja : the complete process (from 99 to 1 to 99 again) should get you somewhere around 3 Speed points (moreoften you'll get 2, but sometimes 3), and a load of PA.
Good luck.

i dont know if you can do 500 damage with an aracher however archer are great with battle skills as second ability since they can break from far away i found this way more useful for archers than doing physical damage...

Have you ever stepped on a trap called Degenerator? Well, have you ever stepped on a trap at all, because it's not an obligation happy.gif

Well, traps are located on squares where you can find items with the Move Find Item move ability : they are triggered when a character without Move Find Item step on it, or when the Item has already been found. One of them is the Degenerator, but it's not the most common. Off the top of my head, I know one of them is located at Zeklaus Desert, in one of the corners of the big rift that is splitting the battle zone in 2.

The trick is this : Degenerator trap makes you lose one level each time you step on it. When you lose a level, you also lose stats (well, at least tidbits of stats, wich cannot be seen...). In fact, you lose the same amount for each stats subjective to evolution (that is HP, MP, Speed, PA and MA) that you would have gain with the class you're currently equiped with.

For example, if you level up as a Wizard (good MA raise) from Lv 30 to Lv 45, then level down back to Lv 30 as Knight (poor MA raise), your character would have a better MA stat than he had at his "previous" Lv 30.

Now, when you level down as a Bard (worst overall stats growth), and then level up as a Ninja (above average PA raise and best Speed raise), you effectively gain HP, PA and Speed, and that is permanent. And you can repeat the process ad vitam eternam, giving your character godly stats if you want.

Now, my advice for leveling down would be to equip you Bard with Secret Clothes (auto Transparent effect), and then step on and off the trap without acting at all (remember that you want to level down, not up) while the other characters do all the work, and keep one ennemy alive (best not to take a lot of characters; since leveling down can take a while, you dan't want 4 characters to have a turn before you can step off the trap). As for leveling up, Gain Exp Up is a must have : I wouldn't start the leveling up/down trick without it, since it doubles your experience : 5 Accumulate earn you a level!!

Good luck with it.
