What the...?!?!?!?!?!
One side of me hopes that that is merely a doctored picture; the other side hopes that it's really happening. I'm pretty sure there is an actual gundam movie. Y'know with real people and stuff. Its probably off of that if I am indeed right that there is a movie.
But that would be sooooo sweet. I wouldn't even care if it worked or not. Just to actually see it would be awesome. Heehee...look at the little people -------------------- -- You're Gonna Carry That Weight -- |

That's the thing NASA is sending to Mars for the manned mission. They hired the Power Rangers to go on the maiden voyage. The truth is they found evidence of alien life... giant... alien... life. The rover took a picture of a big McDonalds on the surface of the red planet. Soon after it stopped working. So now we have to go over there and fight for our real estate. Howard Dean is leading the effort, as evidenced from his quote: "...and then we're going to take back the planet Mars... yyyyyyeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!"

Ok fine. I've seen a lot of weird ish on the net. Remember the Honda Civic that appeared to have crashed into a boat with the stupid lady smiling next to it? Ok, that was a photoshop. It was a very good photoshop but a photoshop none-the-less. This is nothing to get freaked out about. People see these weird images on the net and they want to create their own. In order to make the images look authentic they spend weeks and months perfecting these babies so that they look convincing to the internet community. Here's someone's masterpiece now probably, and it'll circle the web for the next year. Then newbs will see it later on, repost it again only to get greeted by "Welcome to last week/month/year" messages, along with other common newb bashes.
That's what I think is going on here. I'm no expert in determining photoshops from authentic pictures, but I know someone either here or on other forums will pick out some problems and faults. These shadows look odd to me: This post has been edited by i90east on 13th February 2004 05:23 -------------------- FFXI (Siren server) Tauu the Windurstian Tarutaru! White Mage & Paladin |

This isa doctored image, taken at Nellis Air Force base, Nevada. The reasons this has been released are to confuse people who belive that , at the area where this shot was "taken" that the US Government was developing a Grav Tank.

The shadows look fake to me too.
^.^ I do, however think it would be very cool to make a Gundam (Wing...) movie. <3 Provided that's what that is. -------------------- ..DDR..Maine.. ..Hikaroo-chan no Deviantart.. <Tiddles> And I love how people suggest "Why not call it my great name?????" when their name is clearly the worst thing ever. <Tiddles> "How about ; Mozilla Xplorer & Mozilla Xpress." <Tiddles> How about you die in a fire? |

OMG, it's an EVA unit!
Seriously, I agree with the crowd that says it's doctored. It is well-thought out doctoring, as at first, it looks very plausible and makes the viewer think "What in the...where is this and why is that big robot there??" But as i90 I believe pointed out, there are bits like telltale shadows to hint at it being a doctored picture. It could also easily be part of a movie set. Hey, hey, look at the soles of it's feet. See the holes? Anyone else wonder if this is a big picture of an itty bitty lego mech that's been put into a picture that used to have a plane or something? :-) This post has been edited by Elena99 on 13th February 2004 13:41 -------------------- I had an old signature. The detail in the mech is too great to be Lego. The holes look right, but a lego figurine of the proper size to utilize those holes would not have nearly as much detail as the figure shown.

It's clearly a doctored photo or cinematic illusion. What were you expecting, Universal Century timeline technology in the puny AD era? It's not a bad fake, but it's a fake nonetheless. Of course, it would be really cool to see all the best mobile suits from everyone's favorite mecha series (by which I mean the Sazabi and Nu Gundam) in real life, but it's doubtless still a fantasy.
IIRC, they did make a live-action Gundam movie. It was titled G-Saviour, and despite interesting mecha designs and state-of-the-art computer graphics, it sucked. I'm pretty sure poor acting and an uninspired plot pulled it down. The odds of seeing another live-action movie in the Gundam universe seems slim, and really, I think it's better that way. I wonder if they used a gundam model in the doctoring process. I think there are gundam models you can buy that are like 2 ft tall but they cost like $100 or $200. 'Course I've never seen a gundam like that. But if they did use a model I think it would have to be pretty big.
Which gundam do you think it looks the most like? I'd say the original RX-78-2, except for some color and bits and pieces. Hmm... This post has been edited by Rujuken on 14th February 2004 03:50 -------------------- -- You're Gonna Carry That Weight -- |

Quote (Rujuken @ 13th February 2004 22:48) Which gundam do you think it looks the most like? I'd say the original RX-78-2, except for some color and bits and pieces. Hmm... Going by the design, I'm fairly sure that it's the RX-93 Nu Gundam from Char's Counterattack. The specifications all check out, and the rare black-and-white coloration gives it away. Though if you count in the poor quality of the photograph, I guess you could say it was either the original RX-78-2 or the RX-78NT1 "Alex" Gundam from 0080: War in the Pocket. Even then, I'd say that the RX-93 outweighs both in terms of similarity of design. -------------------- "I always have a quotation for everything - it saves original thinking." ~Dorothy L. Keep in mind that the wing with the bits and the shield aren't necessarily parts of the core design. Remove them, and you get a pretty good similarity with the one in the picture.

Oop guess your right it does look like Nu Gundam. Thats a good looking model. How big is it and did you paint it? Er well I guess it could just be a picture you found but it doesn't look like it.

I'm a photoshop person myself, and I can tell you that a picture like that would be child's play to make by any photoshop Guru. One of my friends for a project took a picture of the outside of a floral and dress store, and then gutted it and turned it into an electronics store. So something like this wouldn't be hard at all. Another is that the white and black casings look plactic instead of metal.

i'll tell you all one thing: It aint real.
there is no point in building a mobile suit, let alone one that advanced. the only reason mobile suits were created in teh first place was because of minovsky particles created by helium 3 reactors. two things wrong with that: 1) we dont have helium 3 reactors, yet. 2) minovsky particles at this time dont exist. Mobile suits are no good as long as we can use radar, which we can. even though its been said that its a doctored image, just some extra info for you all out there. -------------------- No, really, they do. |
