I'm curious about peoples' favourite female character in the game.

I used to not use the female characters, mainly because of their abilities (none seemed too great, or the males tended to have better), but I decided I wanted to put a female in my team once and now I always use her: Celes.

I prefer her not for her Runic ability (though, if I used it, it might turn out to be very useful...), but rather because I find Morph and Sketch/Control just not as good (plus I don't like Relm; little kids as characters in RPGs bug me). The trouble, I find, with Morph is that it never lasts long enough in battle to be of any use, and when it finally does last long enough, you've gotten strong enough to not need the Morph ability. And Sketch has almost never worked for me. Control is useful, but by the time you get the Beret to guarantee it will work, I've already got Celes high enough to be more useful than Relm anyway.

Plus, Celes is a soldier, and that means damage dealing. Even with giving her only Magic bonuses from Espers she dishes out awesome damage.

So, what are peoples' thoughts?

Terra--I think she looks better than Celes (although generals who wear swimsuits into battle are rather oddly interesting), but more importantly, she can Morph and deal something like 4x magic damage and have 2x magic defense or something like that. And her attack power and HP aren't shabby either. Celes's Runic is useful for pretty much only one battle, and Relm's Sketch skill is almost completely useless (except when I'm bored).

Celes. Definitely Celes. She's just so friggin' awesome. She has a very nice story, ability, and theme song.

Wow, I was thinking of making this exact thread but though nah, there's already a favorite character thread going around. I think Celes looks better than Terra and has a more interesting personality. It's time for the stats analysis:

Definatly Terra.


Though Celes does have a bit better stats, Terra gets Morph. Terra is all powerful with Morph! Bow down before her greatness!!!

Terra, definitely. she has this loving, earthly feel to her.

Celes did the empire's dirty work willingly, while Terra had to be forced into it by using the slave crown - and Celes, who had known Terra all her life (you can assume so, anyway, seeing as they were both raised in Gestahl's court), just stood by and let them. and Celes had actually had the benefit of Cid's love - whereas Terra had nothing! and even though she was raised with no one showing her kindness and ended up having her memories robbed, she still had enough strength in her to take care of a dozen orphaned children with only 2 other 18 year olds to help her. that shows a lot of class.

and at the end, Terra lost her father, Maduin, but she still kept on going leading her friends out of Kefka's tower...even though her own strength was rapidly failing, even though she must have been terrified that she was about to die, too.

now that is a character to admire.

The reason why Relm is my is my favorite female character is because she has quite a few good lines in the game like "You're such a fuddy duddy", To Sabin: "What are you suppossed to be, an areobics instructor". Terra is my other favorite female FFVI character.

and she is overall just a strong character. Terra may be important, but she just follows and gets protected.

And also, Relm had hardly any time to develop since you get her late in the WOR, and she's absoultely useless. I prefer a dancing furball to a child with a paintbrush.

I liked Celes mostly because she is Locke's girl. I mean come on he wants her she wants him its sooo obvious.

Celes' ability to stop magic attacks cold in their tracks is so unbelieveably handy it's embarassing. Especially in i90east's RIDICULOUSLY hard mode.

If you can imagine getting blasted for quad-9's every time she *doesn't* runic, you'd understand.

That, and Celes has the better menu pic and sprite. Also, she's more universally attractive, except for the locke thing. AND she doesn't have a bad dye job.

Most importantly - she's got stats upon stats. Every party, every time, if it's her or someone else... it's her.

Celes rox-ors.

I love Terra.
I always have. She's complex, and she's soooo cute! It made me sad to be stuck on an island with Celes because I liked Terra much better.

Actually, I like all three of them, but Terra was my favorite. I think my second was Relm because she's all artsy and a smart-alec. ^.^

i voted terra primarely because i'm sick of all the blue eyed blonde haired, underdressed bimbos in the media, i joke, but serioisly terra is a very unqie character.

I voted for Relm, because I like her perky attitude in the game. It really helps, especially after the scene with Kefka and Leo at Thamasa. That's a sad part, and her conversations with Sabin and Edgar when they arrive with everyone else are funny without being rude to the situation. They help lighten the urgency. Plus, her scene with Ultros was just too great.

I picked Terra because shes vital to the story, is the most selfless character in the game, and fact that she becomes a badass when she morphs. Plus, I liked the fact that the game hinted at a possible romance between her and Leo ( that is, if he didnt die )

Celes. Terra is too whiny and Relm is just boring in my opinion.

I'll go for Relm, she's the best magic user in the game.

I must say I quite agree with Neal. It's the somewhat smart alec attitude and her witty comments that make her really endearing to me. I guess Terra and Celes could be considered noble to an extent character-wise, but these kind of self-sacrifising thingies happen just too often in fictional stories. It makes it cliched, if you ask me...
Relm has a nice theme song too. Simple to play, good for praacticing and relaxation and also unusually pleasant to the ears- not a very common combination I can tell you!
And one las thing-even at Level 39 she's still kicking major butt with her hyper-powered spells!! Instant 9999 damage with Ultima to ANY boss! I give her a Gem Box as well and bosses are liable to die in 3 turns-how's THAT for awesome?

I think Terra is the best, Because she is able to move along with all the crap she had been given for a life. Celes, i c the attraction, coz she does kik butt wen u get her upto high levels. Relm is a bit funny and sometimes useful if u hav nothing else to use against a monster but not a real BAD ASS.
Terra also wears kewl clothes and is a useful person in your group, if u give a chance to shine.
Celes is probly my second choice coz she is very gd @ fighting and has kewl clothes too, but the blond hair gets on ma nerves.
Relm, sorry kid, comes last coz she really is jus a waste of memory space...

i am a bit annoyed that Celes gets locke thou, I SO wanted terra 2....
There again, i am jus afta the floating islands and dont kno how the game turns out...
