Ok, these are teh steps to get cloud, right:
Quote 1. Buy a flower from the flower girl in Zarghidas Trade City. 2. Go to Goug Machine City, a scene will occur between Besrodio, Mustadio and Ramza. 3. Go to Goland Coal City, go into the bar and listen to the " Ghost of Colliery " rumor. 4. Go to Lesalia Capital City, you'll meet Beowulf here, say " yes " so he joins you. 5. Go back to Goland Coal City and complete the 4 consecutive battles. 6. Once you succeed in saving Reis from Sinogue and Co., you'll get a new stone, and Beowulf and Reis ( Dragon ) will join. You must accept them, or you cannot get Cloud. 7. Return to Goug Machine City , you'll get Worker-8 after a funny scene. 8. Now you must go to Zeltennia Castle, go into the bar and listen to "Cursed Island" rumor. 9. Go to the Nelveska Temple, north of Zeltennia Castle, defeat Worker 7 New to get another stone plus Reis will be reverted to human form here. She re-joins as a Dragonner, accept her or no Cloud for you. 10. Return once more to Goug Machine City, the latest stone will activate a machine which summons Cloud. He runs off. Follow him, to where ???? 11. Go back to Zarghidas Trade City, here you'll have to save Cloud from a bunch of theives. Win it and Cloud joins. I am having trouble with step #11...I go to Zarghidas and there's no battle - all that happens is that you can press O and shop, do prepositions,go to the bar, etc. I have triple checked all the steps and I did everything correctly but I can's figuer out what's wring here..... Help is appreciated, ninja_with_guns ![]() |

You're doing everything right, but what chapter are you in? If you're in 3 or below, forget it. You must be Ch. 4. I'm positive you know that, though. Get back to me, I'll be glad to help ya!

I dunno man. Looks to me like you've done everything right. Try and beat the Lede/Celi duel, then see what happens. If all else fails...skip Cloud.

To be able to activate the Zarghidas event, the red spot (showing where the next story battle will take place) must be at Orbonne Monastery, wich is after Igros Castle and Murond story battles.

I have gotten Cloud once and it is not worth it. He is at a sickening low level and you have to get his sword at a certain level to get him to his top potential. The only reason to get him is the entertaining scene when he shows up or just to say you got him, otherwise he is pointless, unless you invest alot of hours to get him strong but lets face it once you get Orlando who needs anyone else?

Yes, I know that Cloud is a bad fighter but I want to get him just for the sake of having him. The first time I got Orlandu, I was amazed at his skill....but know, as my second time playing this game, I got him I got rid of him because it's not fair that you have this super-strong character + your own strong characters while the enemy only has Chocobos running around healing each other and little weak gobline using Knife Hand and Eye Gouge on you |

Sure Orlandu is really strong but once you get up into higher levels those random battles get harder and harder becuase the moster are the same level you are and they even kill orlandu (not very likely). Even those Chocobos running around healing each other turn into killing machines when they got meteor.

one more thing anytime anyone posts about cloud they say he is at extremely low level... is level one extremely low??? no its like starting level so call it that cause i thought he was gonna be level 20 for me thats low at this point level one is like a nobody. and another thing did anyone actually level him up because i am about level 80 and i dont feel like leveling up cloud, it would be easier if i could give him skillz like move get xp and xp up but thats a calculator so i wont get it in a while with him. Any ideas?

If your Ramza is level 80, then it's fairly easy to level up Cloud. Equip Ramza with Speed Save as a reaction ability, and hit him with Cloud for a whoping 99 exp points (or some like that). Ramza's speed will rise almost every turn (especially if you use Scream at the beggining of the battle, to make his Brave go to 100). Then, perform Yell on Cloud at every turn Ramza gets, and don't forget to cure him once in a while; let the other party members deal with the foes any way you like it.
This way, every other turn he gets, Cloud will go up 1 level. If you want make this routine more efficient (and you'll want to at some point, when Cloud will begin getting a level every 3 turns, and then every 4 turns...), change Cloud as a Thief. Make him learn Steal Exp, and perform it on Ramza with the same routine. Don't forget to bring someone to hurt Ramza, so that his speed won't be outmatched by Cloud's. And of course, at the later part, try to learn Get Exp Up and Move Get Exp. Good luck. This post has been edited by Mr Thou on 28th May 2004 14:13 |

i dont understand is it because ramza is a higher level that Cloud will get more exp? or is it because of the speed normally how i level up is i go to a level with water and try to get some panthers in it and then i yell with ramza at the person i want to level up and then with them i accumalate with them until i learn that job in one battle thats how one of mine generic character has like 6 or 7 mastered job its a good way to level up people this way since they almost all have accumulate but thas where i get into trouble. With all the cool characters they have instead of squire as basic job engineer or holy knight. so i cant accumulate. is there any other technique that is free and has 100 percent of succeeding i know still xp is good from the thief but the problem is that it doesnt always work on my super high leveled up characters. i cant think of any abilities well chakra but they have to be hurt to do that i dont know ill figure out something.
Mr. Thou how can i level up Mustido because i hate when some characters are higher levels than other. (i didnt have any trouble leveling up Orlandu) i like reis she is a high level but learning all her abilities is a pain. and now i have to get a dragon and Beowulf was a breeze as well. help me out plz (maybe i should start my own topic called help me out) come one mr thou -------------------- "Isn't ramza a girls name?" -me i havent changed my avatar or anything in a long time! time for a change yall! |

A quick reply, on how to gain JP for special character.
First, as Neal said, the gap between character levels doesn't influence the number of JP gained. However, the Level and the Job level are important : a Level 1 character as a Thief 1 (this is the Job level, going from 1 to 8) will gain less JP with an action than a Level 50 Thief 1, and a Level 20 character Thief 1 will gain less JP than a Level 20 Thief 7. The maximum JP gainable with a single action is 70, with a Level 99 Job 8, with Gain JP Up equiped...sadly, when you reach this point, it's almost useless, except for mastering jobs. Anyway, there is specific actions you can take to gain JP easily : Chakra is an excellent choice for anyone. With Orlandu, try to learn Dark Sword ASAP, and use it on the person who is using Chakra : this character will regain some MP, allowing for Orlandu to use Dark Sword again, and so on... As for Mustadio, I wouldn't know, since I don't use him often. My best guess would be to use the Chakra Cross : one character with chakra, with four character around him that keeps pounding on each other or the Chakra caster with weak attacks (unequip their weapon if you want). It works wonder, at any stage of the game. One other solution, though risky, is the solo autoplay evolution : basically, you go into a battle with one character, make him impervious to the opponents he's facing (choose an area with monsters who can only use physical attacks, and equip your character with Blade Grasp and a high Brave), wipe away most of the ennemies, and then put your character in Auto Battle, set on Protecting Allies. Then, he wil run around, casting on himself any support abilities he has access to (Accumulate comes to mind, and the samourai's Kiyomori, with a shitload of katanas in stock just in case). After that, all you have to do is go take a nice shower, come back later and voilà : loads of Exp and JP. Finally, there's cheating : you can use the JP trick to master any jobs with more than one page of abilities...but that's plain cheat, and I won't explain it here, unless there's a call for it. It was a lengthy post, but I hope it helps you out ![]() This post has been edited by Mr Thou on 4th February 2004 22:29 |

just a quick update with you all help i got cloud to master soldier and to get to level 70 in 2 easy battles. Here's how i did it if you are intrested... i yelled at him power braked him took his weapon off so he did only one damage then he hit the person in my party with the highest level. The enemies just kill all but one preferable a dragon or panther so you can hide in water, and speed brake the last monster so you can go like a billion times before he does.

Cloud is not bad at all.
Make his Magic Attack high, give him his materia blade and the support ability Short Charge Also, give him a secondary ability as Draw out. Whenever there's a really tough monster, just use Finishing Touch. If a monster's life bar is half, then use climbhazzard. If monsters are lined up or far away use the "kijikikomochi" or however you spell it ![]() With around 15-16 MA, Cloud is pretty great. |

well, I'm also starting this sidquest as well.
here's some of the steps I did: 2. I haven't founded the flowergirl yet, will I still get cloud even if you skipped step? |

wait till chap. 4 keep Mustadio!
1.Go to Goug City you'll see a scene with Besrodio, Mustadio,& Ramza. 2.Go to Goland Coal City read 'bout a rumor of the Ghost Colliery. 3.Go to Lesalia Imeperial Capital and you'll see a scene with Ramza in a bar& you'll meet Beowulf Kadmus say 'Yes' then he'll be a guest at your party. 4.Go back to Goland Coal City and you'll fight 4 battles(just to inform ya mostly you'll have to fight some guns) 5.Last battle you need to Save Reis a holy dragon from this Arahiac demon Sinogue and other monsters. After this battle you'll get an Aquarius stone. Let those two join your party or no Cloud. 6.Go back to Goug City and see a weird scene. 7.Go to Zeltennia Castle read a rumor about the Nelveska Temple. 8.Buy a flower from that flower girl. 9.Go back to Goug and watch the scene. 10.Go to Nelveska Temple and defeat Worker 7 New. 11.After the battle you'll have a Cancer stone, see a scene of Reis turning back to human, and let her join your party. 12.Go back Goug and see a scene of Cloud transported back in time. 13.Clear out Igros castle and go to Zarghidas Trade city. 14.You'll see a scene of this idiot gang with an idiot Monk with the flower girl name Aeris(strange maybe an ancestor of Aeris duh) and Cloud. You'll have to save Cloud in this battle. This battle is what I call a joke of all battles... 15.When you finish, let him join your party. 16.Get his sword on a top of Beverenia Volcano use the ability Find-Item so he'll be able to use his ability. He's not so strong just to inform you and you need to wait till his abilities are active. His Finishing Touch is a godsend... it always causes a status effect, petrification very likely. I leveled Cloud up to his 70s, he's more permanent in my team than Agrias.
Also, you people who spew out the garbage about Cloud being bad or any other character being bad, you forget that a character is only as good as what you do with him. Max out a character with useless classes, he's useless. Max out the same character with good classes, he's a shoe-in. Leveling-down and re-leveling up with the right classes is how you max out pure stats. That way, you can actually have lower level gods. |

I hope you don't mean that he isn't worth to put in battle
I'm just saying about his weaknesses. What if a monster hit while he's charging! The Death song tolls it's funeral's bells, but not yet till you finish the battle before he crystalizes, use phoenix down, and raise(2)! His attacks are good, but slow... ![]() ![]() & Agrias is good at some spots ![]() But Cloud learns fast.
