Hey, i was just wondering what character builds are your favorite in Diablo II (posts about Diablo I are fine too). Also, if you know of any weird character builds (like a sword and shield sorceress, if thats even possible) post it here as well.

Currently, in my one player game, i'm building up a very succesful sword and shield Barbarian that focuses on berserk. Hes level 16 right now and in the beginning of the second Act, i plan on starting a new character online (possibly a Necroskeleton or a Bowazon)

The weirdest thing i have ever seen was a throwing barbarian. He wasn't very succesful due to a low attack rating and poor strength. but he was able to attack from a distance which was kinda cool.

My current character's a Sorceress in Act II who uses a bow and arrow, has Hawkmail for armor, everything else a Rare armor piece, and uses her Fire Ball spell (the big exploding one...not Meteor, but just below) mostly for backup... xP

Well, my key has been stolen, so I dont play anymore. Unfortunately, I didnt get to play v.10...But, I did have a nice pally build. A Ranger thumbup.gif thumbup.gif (PALLY WITH A BOW) he owned, but unfortunately during a Pindle Run, my moronic pard left me in the heat of the battle. The skeletons eventually got the better of me.

Necros, all about the Necros. Nothing like summoning your own army of undead soldiers.

In .9 I used a "cooky-cutter" zealot and Bone-spirit necro, I messed around with melee necro abit nothing like having IronMaden-Bloodgolem while doing melee happy.gif
In .10 all I really played is hammerdin paladin (.10 beefed them up alot) he get's like 8k damage per hammer, the only build I can't stand is Bow-zon they just seem cheap to me,much rather play Bonespirit necro

I've had quite a few interesting character builds over the years with Diablo 2. My favorite was my level 33 barbarian dueler (hardcore) with spear mastery, 5-7 points in battle orders, battle command, 1-3 points in increased speed skill, 4 points in whirlwind, and so on. The reason I choose level 33 is that at level 33 the stat called "Ferocious" on weapons becomes available, which can increase weapon damage up to +200%. On lances (base lvl requirement: 25), the damage is quite impressive, in excess of 330 base damage, which is quite impressive at level 33. I always use the rune word 'stealth' on a light-type armor like serpentskin (heavy armors reduce speed). On my head is the Peasant Crown, and the rest of my character is equipped with Immortal King's Gauntlets and Belt, usually Waterwalk boots, the Angelic amulet and ring (this is an impressive combination that gives cumulative AR, dexterity, +75 life, and more), and some other random ring on my other hand. On my alternate tab are dual +2 warcry swords for increased battle order life. With some charms added in, this character's a beast. It makes quite an exceptional dueler that can throw many people off guard. He usually kills everyone in one hit up to level 50, unless they're druids or barbarians. My most notable kill was a level 71 paladin that didn't think I'd really duel him. He's still alive today, and I made him at the start of ladder. Granted it took a while to outfit him with the proper gear, but once I had it, I duel like crazy.

I only make this character in hardcore. In softcore, it's just pointless. Then again, to me, everything's pointless in softcore, making everything rapidly become boring. But that's just my opinion smile.gif

Let's see...Oh yeah! I had a BowAssassin. I loved her. She died at 33 (hardcore). She was equipped with Iceblink (I THINK) and a Skystrike (best low lvl bow). I think she died to a PKer. ohmy.gif I also had a PKKer (Player Killer Killer). She had a 4 socketed Emerald bow with Scalemail and Pois Charms. Pure ownage until I was retarded and quit D2. Oh, and BTW, I only killed Pkers that were below lvl 30.

My best character is a lv 85 bowazon with a WF and lots of life leech. Mostly use Guided arrow with the occasional multi shot for crowds.

I've used a WW barb, a Zealot/Avenger paladin, and a Lightning/Ice MF sorc in the past, but most have fallen apart. Barb had no mana leech, pally was too weak, sorc traded her Occy orb and Shako for WF. So basically I only use the bowazon.

I've dabbled into hardcore, but lag usually got the best of me and my friends and killed us. I don't like playing alone, so single player is out of the question. I might try again sometime. I'm not exactly a big Diablo player, I used to play a few hours a day during the summer but I rarely play nowadays.

Right now I'm attempting to make a WarCry barbarian. I'm Maxing out Shout, Battle Orders, and WarCry, and Iron Skin (no need for synergies, they only add damage which is not the main reason for WarCry). This can be quite a tanker. You just go up to monsters, cast warcry, and they are stunned for a little bit. They don't do anything but sit there stunned, and u can do it over and over. And with my planned equipment, no energy points are necessary to spend in the process. I'll probably dual wield Wizard Spikes (right there you have 100% faster cast, LOTS of cumulative mana, and 150 all resistances), and wear other mana oriented gear. He's gonna be a strange one, but I've done one before, and they're quite fun.

Of course, this barbarian is more of a party person, which can't do much alone.

I stopped playing when 1.10 came out, but I used to play crazy addictively. My two favorite builds were:

Lvl 92 Sorc - Mainly my MF character, but she could still kick some butt
-Focus on blizzard orb and hydra, with other vitals like static field and the masteries maxed out.
-Full Tal Rasha set except for an occulus orb rather than the lidless eye, chance guards and war travelers, and two sojs.

Lvl 89 Barbarian - My severe slaughterer. He could take ANYONE
- All about frenzy and berserk, with masteries and battle cry maxed out. Ridiculous speed, crazy defense, and the ability to kill even enemies with immune to physical.
- Full Disciple and Bul Kathos sets. Combining two full sets got me an insane amount of +to skills. With my masteries maxed, that was also adding to to my overall stats. Combined with an Arreat's Face, I ended up with 75 resist all and an ungodly amount of defense.

If you're into bugged items, there's better stuff out there, but I prefer to play clean. I suppose there's better stuff out there with 1.10 also, but thought I'd share my piece anyway. ;-)

-90 ts-orb-hryda sorc=480+ magic find, had enough in fire/ice/lighting to easyly kill any monster not immune to all 3, constant meph runs earned me at least 1 super godly item per day.
-95 bow zon=mainly dueling skills

Definitely love me some Paladin playing. The only problem is that I'll get really into the game for a while get a good character and then get really busy and not even think about D2 until the character is deleted. My best though was a lvl 47 paladin who was all about Zeal with Frostburns and using Thorns against physical enemies, and Salvation against anything magical (gotta love maxed resists).
