Crap! My FF8 CD got gashed. Dunno how it happened, but it just froze on me. The scratch is like smaller than a millimeter but it's deep. Any ideas on how in the WORLD I can fix this little predicament?

Well... If the CD is scratched you're probably screwed... but cleaning it would help anyway, I have scratched games that work well when cleaned properly. You can buy a cleaner for like 10 bucks at a funcoland or EB store. It's a good investment.

Where's the scratch? On the top of the disc or the bottom? If its on top forget it the data is gone. There's only actually a very thin layer under the printing that holds the data on CDs. So if the scratch occurs up there then the data is destroyed. If it's on the bottom then you can likely find some repair kits like Disc Doctors or some such.

this will sound stupid but put it in the frezzer inside a dry food bag overnight the cold makes the plastic do weird stuff and it can sometimes bond small gaps

Question: is the FF8 CD for PC or PSX? If it's a PC CD, then you can download it free, and it's legal since you own an original. Just a thought...

I have a scratch on my FF8 cd. It's not deep, it's not big, but it's during the Ragnarok scene "Eyes on you playing) and the game refuses to skip over it, so I'm stuck.

ANYWAYS...if anyone's seen the "modern""art" thread, my CD greatly resembled that until I decided to nuke it on top of shooting it with a Red Rider BB gun.

How well do those CD repair kits work? You can get one for $20. Then again you could probably get FF8 for $20. tongue.gif
