I was playing FFT last night trying to level up my thief so that he can turn him into a Lancer, and I got into a battle against a group of Samurai. At first, I thought awesome, an easy battle cause I'll just pick them off with my summoner after my thief got enough experience, but I hit one snag... THE LITTLE F###KERS WOULDN'T DIE!!!!!
They kept on using a skill that casts shell and protect on them, and when I did do damage to them, the just healed with Murasame or something like that. And then to add to it, their attack damage was 48 and I had autopotion on everyone with nothing but X-Potions in my inventory. So they hit me, and I heal 150 HP. This went on for an hour before I admitted defeat while curled up in the fetal position, sucking my thumb, and crying on my bedroom floor. Anyway, I wanted to know if anyone else had an experience like mine, hopefully without the fetal position, and the crying, and thumb sucking. Do share it will make you feel better. -------------------- "Like an Angel from the underworld, or a devil from paradise" Faye Valentine: Cowboy Bebop |

This kind of goes in the same vein as the earlier "Weird Battles" thread. I once fought about a dozen Monks in a random battle, and I'm fairly sure I gave up eventually. They had all of those useful Monk abilities, giving them plenty of versatility (Wave Fist and Earth Slash) along with the ability to regenerate lost HP for free (Chakra). There were just too many of them, and they were all at the same level. I don't think I ever encountered anything similar to that afterwards, but I doubt that a Samurai battle would be much fun.

I've never had a tough random battle, in fact, all my "hard battles" are pretty odd.
Dorter Trade City is hard for me. I find that some RPGs are alot harder in the beginning than towards the end. In Dorter, the Black Mages were murder on me. Fort Zeikden, or whatever, when you fight Argus, is hard. Black Mages...AAHHH!! The 2 battles with Gafgarion, one where he's posing as an executioner, and the other where Ramza has to 1v1 him behind the gate. Man he kicked ass. Sadly, once you get Orlandu, FFT isn't challenging at all. O sure, you can not use Orlandu, but, that would be a gawd awful waste. -------------------- Blood & Fire |

WHy would it be a waste not to use Orlandu? Use the level down/up trick, and it'll level the playing field. Agrias is better because she can equip Perfumes and Ribbons.

I've gotten into random battles with Samurai groups at Yuguo Woods, but I dont remember them being particularly hard. I think the hardest story battle is Finath River depending on which types of Chocobo you have to fight.
I have been destroyed by groups of Hydras and Behemoths in random battles, though. I remember one of them happening at Barius Hill. -------------------- look into my eyes tell me what you see someone real? this is real! what you wish to be! ...O P E N Y O U R E Y E S........ ...open your eyes, open your eyes.... |

In Barius Hill, I had to fight 3 W.Mages/priests, a Time mage, a Archer and a Dragon. You can imagine how that went....Kinda ticked me off since they had (and kept casting) Raise,ReRaise, Haste and Slow....

Fort Zeakden was hard until I realised I had unlocked Summoner for my Time Mage. Taught him Ramuh. BANG dead Algus.
But the Golgorand Execution Site battle was annoying for me. The Archers always went right up the top straight away and totally owned me while the Time Mages consistently cast Stop. ARGH! |

The battle in Bariaus Hill and the battle with the Mediators and Chemist with the guns are weird, and the first one is tough, is like if you where in the Deep Dungeon, with those Behemoths, Dragons, Tiamats, and Chocobos, but it is my favorite random battle.

I have run into what i like to call "The Westside Story Chcobo Squad". I believe their "Turf" is bariaus hill. I happened to run into them three times so far. The first two times I was level 28 and had a few master monks and some wizards. The third time I had developed a sort of deeply embedded fear for bariaus hill and went all out with pure ninja squad.
The first chocobo squad was 2 black chocobos and 3 regular chocobos. Being fairly new to the game, i figured i should go after the regular chocobos because of their annoying healing ability. Then, the black chocobo waltzed right up to me and did 250+ damage (which was more than double my own hitpoints) and i, just in the first 3 moves, lost my most powerful warrior. Seeing my obvious weakness they mercilessly killed me, mamed and dececrated my corpse, and thought it would be funny to do it a second time in a later battle. Second time, same deal, but with an extra red chocobo. thrid time, I was the one mercilessly slaughtering them and their offspring, poaching them for their pelts and reveling in my own surperiority. Dont think im weird do you? ![]() -------------------- CHANGE : When the winds of change blow hard enough, the most trivial of things can turn into deadly projectiles |

I ran I to a mostly all calculator battle in Deep dungeon there were 8 calculators and 4 Black mages They keep me busy for a while in tell it was the calculators turn. First thing they did was don’t move, then fire 3, bolt 2, holy, stop, slow, frog then haste. Well after they showed me some of their wrath. I decided to end the battle now; first I cured the frog off of my summoner, which has the faith rod and math skill on, and an item that perverts death. I did CT5death it hit and killed all but my summoner. I could have ended it on my first turn but I thought it might be fun to see enemy calculators in action.

Hi! I'm new in this forum, so don't sue me
![]() Sorry for my creepy english, i'm not native U__U About this ramdom battles, I think are very normal in the game. I love FFT and all the stuff, I have some doujinshis too. In one of them Ramza can't fight because the archer and the molbols of the other team is too strong and wants to remade the battle pushing the power button of the PSX. Mustadio is trying to read a videogame guide (The final Fantasy Tactics Bible, is a real one but in japanese, one of the bests guide i've ever seen) and reads a complete section about this type of battles. I have the guide too, and is true. This ramdom battles are usual in the game, and japanese people makes parodies about them ![]() This information isn't useful, but curious ![]() |

I would have to say, it's a toss up between all red chocobo's, and the red squid people and their discoloring of my brains. Nothing worse than watching all my guys putz around like alzhimer patients on a field trip to the science museum. things to do, things to do, does this go here? BAH! I heal you with fire 4!

i have mentioned this battle ina previous post but i just have to reinform you of the horrors i have seen
Ok first of all i love leveling up, so i leveled up my chars a lot before getting any super good characters aka Orlandu. So i am at the begging of chapter 4 and my character are mid 60's levels and i am fighting a story battle however this battle is a monster battle. So the monsters are set at my level. So i have to fight 6 to 9 Red/Black/Yellow chocobos. This is the level before Zeltania Castle, i just fought melioundel its the one with the river and the island in the middle of it. I tried to beat it i died three times in a row. i hadnt lost many battle before this. I was "this must be bad luck" So i pulled out my heavy stuff: lancer, holy knights, dragons, Worker 8s. most of the character that i tried to beat it with were above 400 hp. So since the chocobos are like god level they always go first. (even if i am a ninja) The red chocobos run around like stupid well stuff and meteor me from 6 spacers away and then run away. by the way the meteor hits for about 150+ and a hit from a chobo that lands on beowulf does about 260+ damage which is pissing me off because they have about a 25% chance to hit him in melee because of his sweet shield skills. Worker 8 with his 600 hp just wipes through the whole chocobo army with dispose but not before he can kill them they either kill ramza or someone else and i dont have enough time to raise them! some times i get lucky and the battle is 5 chocobos and uribo but then i just die anyways. well sorry for the long post but i had to get this battle of my chest, and by the way does anyone else have the problem of getting hit by enemies when their chance is like 10% but you cant hit them at 95%? Is it my Brave or Something? Well anyways help ive tried like 10 times now! -------------------- "Isn't ramza a girls name?" -me i havent changed my avatar or anything in a long time! time for a change yall! |

Tis all too slimple...
Have Ninjas! yes, you heard me, ninjas. equip them with punch art so they can heal/revive and give them defence up which worker 8 has on at all times (which is why he seems to last so long). or, if punch art is not you're style. Try giving all of them Angel Rings wich keep Reraise on them at all times. You cant lose a character(unless those one blue squid dudes can cancel it with thier special little "Odd Soundwave") ![]() -------------------- CHANGE : When the winds of change blow hard enough, the most trivial of things can turn into deadly projectiles |

thx for helping me but i beat it before i saw your post
what i did was just put defender 8 on the other side and that canged the whole battle and the fact that there were only 5 yellow chocobos yay no meteors now im trying to loot elmdor's junk im at level 70 but he keeps running around and i cant catch him to speed break him and i finally got those accursed items where worker 7 was even with 10 brave i got the crappy javelin. ![]() -------------------- "Isn't ramza a girls name?" -me i havent changed my avatar or anything in a long time! time for a change yall! |

Heh, might be going SLIGHTLY out of your way if you want to get those items, but just use Stop from the Time Mage. That will make it quick and easy to loot/destroy him. Just be careful of those pesky little Assassins (108 Gems).

the assasins arent a problem i killed them in one shot its just catching eldmor because after i accidently hurt him he runs (teleport to the opposite corner so i put a character in every corner still he llike went to the middle, darn evasion.)

um... Beowulf uses Chicken on Elmdor twice, and you get a ninja that is equipped with two swords to speed break him. Twice the chance and effectiveness on reducing speed.
Then, everything should be easy. I stole all of Elmdor's equipment when my party was around level 35 ![]() |

The Bariaus Hill battle.
That was the one I am talking about, the best random battle in the game. You might get guests, Reis can tame Hydras and Dragons, and all the monsters can kill you, even Orlandu. Its just like if you were in the Deep Dungeon, this battle really tests you.
