In my current game of FFT, I've decided to fully loot Elmdor and take his Genji ensamble AND his Masamune. I've gotten bits and pieces of them in other games, but the best I've gotten at one time is the Masamune and Genji Helmet.

So I have now resolved to jacking all Elmdor's stuff, but he is a real pain in the ass, Murasama is a killing machine, and even though all my characters have Auto Potion set to use X Potion, it only works about 1/3 of the time. And Celia and Lede always throw off my plans with either Allure or Shadow Stitch, although I'm always careful not leave myself open for the instant death attack.

So, does anyone here know what the most effective way to nabbing all 4 of those lovely Genji items plus the very appealing Masamune? Any help would be appreciated greatly.

Best way to go about it is to start off with Orlandu offing Celia and Lede (and the subsequent Demons), while Beowulf goes to work Chickening Elmdor, which shouldn't take too long. Then while you have 1 or 2 people trying their hands at stealing, start knocking down his stats (prefereably starting with Speed) with Knight skills.

I hear taking the shield first reduces his chances of blocking the rest.

Yea just lower his brave with Beowulf’s chicken skill or a mediators threaten skill bring his brave down to Zero and you can get the genji gear and Masamune in a snap. That way he wont use his blade grasp and take the shield first and try to steal from behind it will makes it a lot easer.

So what level should I be at to try this? Im at level 40 for most of my chars (although Ramza is 34 because he can't get a lick in before Orlandu, Agrias and Beowulf take everyone out), and since I have 108 Gems on everyone, Orlandu's power is lower, so he cant take out Celia and Lede in 1 shot like he normally could, and its very risky to move because Celia and Lede have that damned 100% instant death attack, and I have a hard enough time just healing after Murasama, reviving someone is just hell.

So again, the new question is: What level should I bet at so I can have a fairly good chance at shitcanning Celia and Lede in good time before Elmdor can unleash the fury on me? The Ultima Demons are so slow its a joke...i'm still using a default Ninja, and she has no problem killing both of them before they can act. And with Orlandu and his Auto-Haste, the Demons are about as menacing as a level 1 Squire at this point.

when i went in there, i was about level 70 or so with all people that are not a special character as a ninja. if you've had some random battles with humans, snatch some thief hats and equip you're ninjas with them. Leave orlandu with the bracer and make sure you get him up to master swordsman asap. Since the 2 assassin chicks and Elmdor start out in that quaint little spell prone formation, a little lighting stab action will off the 2 assassin ladies and bring elmdor to a screeching halt with the greater portion of his hitpoints snatched. Off the 2 ultima demons and that leaves elmdor stranded by his own little lonesome. If you've equipped the ninjas with the hats, they will most likely be able to move twice before elmdor gets to move an inch. This will give you enough time to surround him in a semicircle and start snatching away at his lovely armour. If you've done some training as a oracle, you will have that nice little skill called DEFENCE UP which usually reduces damage done to you by 25%-40% (that was the only way i could beat wiegraf)

the order in which to start snatching is the order of items that have the highest evade. you can check by doing status and hittin select.

FYI, surrounding Elmdor does no good. He can Teleport anywhere with 100% accuracy.

In an update, by the Grace of God, i was able to quickly snag all the stuff. My Nina/Thief only faltered once. It was great, and Orlandu killed off Elmdor immediatly following the seizure of the Masamune.

now my squire Ramza (whom I renamed Heinrich) with his equip knife ability is now walking around in Elmdor's clothes and wielding his sword. Bwahhahahahah!

That's a nice idea, but i'm up to the point where i just got Meliadoul, and got her Save the Queen which is better than the masamune because of always protect.
Then again the Masamune just sounds cool

The Shield is useless to my Ramza because he has blade grasp and it offers no magic evasion.

Well, when you equip it, you can use it in battle. Kinda like all the other equipment in the game.

You can read up on the specific stats if you want by reading the FFT section.

Bust down Elmdor's Brave (and maybe his Strength, or something), see if he feels like going anywhere when he can't even hit you. Trust me, he'll behave. cool.gif

Ramza
A Squire so he learns Ultima, and with Yell.

Agrias
A Ninja with Steal, give her speed increasing items and Chantage, and maybe,
Speed Save.

Orlandu
After Ramza learns Ultima, kill the Assassins and the Ultima Demons. If you are
protected by all the attacks from the Assassins, they will have no choice but to use
Ultima.

Beowulf
Chicken, which you will use on Elmdor.

Mustadio
Chemist with Battle Skill and Speed Break.

108 Gems and Black Costumes should be equipped on whoever you can, and Judo
Outfits, I think, nullify death. Ramza and Orlandu can equip Judo Outfits and Black
Costumes without changing jobs, and Agrias as a nija should be able to.

Steal the Shield, Gauntlet, Armor, Helmet, and Masamune, in that order. Steal the
Shield from behind. The Gauntlet gives a great PA and MA bonus, and the katana
as a nice Draw Out, giving Haste and Regen, but not worth risking the blade over,
until you get to the Deep Dungeon in HORROR to get more I think.

Thats how I did it if I remember, it took long 'cause Agrias was getting killed a lot,
but it was easy, just long.

[OBJECTIVES]

1) Eliminate Assasins
2) Speed Break Elmdor
3) Eliminate Ultima Demons
4) Begin Stealing Genji Equipment

-------------------

1)The easiest way I can explain this is to have an Excalibur-equipped Orlandu know Teleport and use Holy Explosion on Celia and Lede. This not only eliminates them right off the bat but it also eliminates any need to guard against all of their horrendous status effects. Elmdor can inflict a couple himself, but his aren't as severe. I usually recommend having Agrias with the Excalibur and Chantage so she's a living, breathing death machine, but it doesn't matter really. Lightning Stab would hit one two few Assassins or Elmdor as well, so you can't use that.

A Chantage-d Agrias (guarded against petrify, vampire), someone with a Vanish Mantle on AND Sunken State (no purpose but to stop Game Overs), and someone to steal could work also, but I don't really recommend it. Anyway...

2) Ultima Demons are horrible when compared to their Assassin counterparts, so once their out of the way, you need to stop Elmdor from getting a turn in every four or so actions. A ninja with Battle Skill is ideal for this, having an an innate Two Swords, but having EVERYONE with Two Swords isn't a bad idea (as long as you're prepared against confusion, etc.). Elmdor will, no doubt, situate himself where he can hit the most of your allies, so you can gang up on him when he appears. Beowulf's Chicken skill works well here and should be used if he doesn't have Battle Skill and/or he can't do anything.

Elmdor can be afflicted with Slow too, a good idea.

3) Ultima Demons are susceptable to a lot of status effects. Musty can do Arm Aim from far away for an easy 'stopper', and I recommend that. Leg Aim can be used too, if imperative. Killing them is quite easy when you Don't Act them.

4) Elmdor has Blade Grasp, a defensive barricade that can only be lowered when that character's brave is lowered. Who has the easiest way to lower Brave? Beowulf, with his Chicken skill. It *always* worked for me when I played him, and you only need to take two turns to do it, so make sure you do that. Characters that don't have steal should Mental Break Elmdor to lower his Sword Spirit skills, since Samurai attacks are based off of MA. Once you've broken his spirit and speed, time is on your side.

You can see when his turn comes up, and if your characters are dying, etc., move them away, heal them, and make sure he can't hit more than one character with Muramasa. You may also want to have people with Counter keep away from him (although relatively impossible with Teleport2) since he has been known to commit suicide by a rare physical attack.

Steal his Genji Shield first, then his Genji Helmet, the to the Masamune, which is followed by the Genji Armor and Genji Gauntlet.

SPEED = 1
M. ATTK = 1
SLOW = YES
Brave = Less than 10

There are various combonations of characters you can use, but the above strategy could work too. Happy gaming

This post is dead, but I just got done jacking Elmdor yesterday and thought I would post how since it was so friggin easy. First, the party. Orlandu, Beowulf, Ramza, Agrias, and a generic knight. Ramza and the knight both had steal as second abilities. Cid and agrias took out Celie and Lede first thing, and *wonder of wonders* Elmdor broke Muramasa on his first turn, so the 108 gems I had on everyone made him utterly harmless. I speedbrok him down to speed-2 and everyone was getting 2-3 turns before him. Oh, I "chikened" him to -10 brave as well, to nillify bladegrasp. It took about 15 minutes to get all of his stuff, but it was by no means difficult. Luck had a big role, though, seeing as Lede's charm didnt work on Ramza and Elmdors Muramasa broke on the first try, and incurred no status effects on my guys.
