I'm editing a ff3us rom so that it is a sequal wih new characters, weapons including Ninja Stars! and a completly new storyline still true to the very soul of Final Fantasy 6, I'm using yousei's editor v2 and ff3usME to sort out the characters and text. To change the characters and monsters I'm using a combination between ff3us Sprite Editor (for the characters) and ff3se for the monsters and menu images.

The only problem is that I want to give the rom the ff6 main screen but I do not have the experience to do this alone the closest I can come is by applying a ips file that another person (who has disapeared) did.
This is the ips file that I tried to use.

Does anybody know the editor or how to edit the main screen picture becuase this ips changes too much of the rom to be useful.

More information will follow soon about Final Fantasy VI-2 including Pictures

I like your idea, but sadly, my knowledge of rom-changing is somewhat limited. I learning, though! If ever you need help with something, anything, feel free to ask me to help biggrin.gif I always have plenty of time for rom changing. I do it in my spare time. Here's a nice idea if you're lazy like me, you might just want to change some of the existing sprite colors and such:

Voila! It's one of Terra's relatives!

Oh yeah, most of my knowledge of rom-changing is FF3se. It's a great program.

I have been unsuccessful at importing the FF6 title screen. sad.gif

I find it hard to believe that you can rearrange the whole game into being a completely new experience. It'll be interesting to see just how much you can do. smile.gif Will this have new world maps at least?

At the moment my knoledge of FF6 editing is still very limited so at the moment it will include a completely new story including new characters, bosses and plots/sub-plots.
What do you think of my characters and what do you think I should name the new "General" (Leo) ?

Any ideas will be considerated seriously and I will let you know what I have chosen.

This may sound weird, but I like the name Onell Yep'do (or Yepdo). Doesn't sound escpecially fantasyesque, and as a matter of fact, it sounds more like a Star Wars name, but it's still a cool name smile.gif Another cool name for a general is Ares, the Greek god of war. If you need more cool names, check out Roman mythology, Greek Mythology, Shakespearian names, and/or Author's names.

Another suggestion is to name the elemental (and all the others, for that matter) spells different names, but names that still have to do with their element. Such as:

Fire: Flare, Heat, Singe, etc.
Ice: Freeze, Chill, etc.
Bolt: Flash, etc.
Pearl: Holy, etc.

And so on and so forth.

EDIT: Oh yeah, about your characters: I like 'em so far. The Ghost looks exactly the same, but I suppose it would be nice for him to be a main character. About Draco, he looks really good. So does the as-yet-to-be-unamed general. Are their action sprites fully done yet, or have you just drawn the basic standing sprite so far?

Ghost and Draco are fully animated while the general has basic movements but I am currently working on him because unlike Draco and Ghost he is a completly new character style and I had a few problems with his pallete.

If you have any comments please tell me because I want to make this true to Final Fantasy experience.

Good luck with this Wedge!

It is going to be a massive undertaking but stick with it and we hope to see some good results soon.

Um... the link is busted... I suggest tripod. I always try to be helpful (annoyingly so, at times) so if you'd like, I'd be happy to host the file on my site.

Since the rom I was working with self destructed I have had to quickly (7 weekends sprite work into 3 hours straight) restore the file using the broken one this had meant that some of the animation for the General has been lost mainly the celebrating one and the pallete fixes so I will fix that tommorow morning because I am shattered!

Aww man, I know how you feel. I messed up some monster sprites once after 2 days of work without backing up the rom. Since you're editing the actual game there is no "restore to default" option. pinch.gif I may be able to help you figure out how to move the locations of towns if you want to create custom maps. I think that would do a lot towards creating a new game atmosphere (although it's quite a large task).

When changing enemy formations and the sizes of monster sprites there are some things you need to know. Let me know if you're having problems or if you have any questions. I learned so much from making my expert version of FFVI.

UPDATE- General character pallete fixes complete, battle animation minus being struck done, now working on other animations.

Yes I agree, I have no current plans to change the world maps because I am curently working on the story and character side but I am not going to rule out a map change in the future and another thing does anyone have anymore suggestions on what to name the general?
