guitar repair stuff:

wire cutters
a soldering iron
6 guitar pickups (2 fender single coils, an EMG 81, 85, 60, and a generic seymour duncan from an esp explorer)
2 output jacks
a 3-way toggle switch
3 strat style blade switches
volume and tone pots all over the place
a strat pickguard (ugh....)
tuners (both guitar and bass... its not even a number that would add up correctly to an actual set or two)
bits of wire scattered around
boxes of strings
electrical tape
a magnifying glass
razor blades
screw drivers and allen wrenches of all sizes
guitar picks... all over the place to the point where i can hardly see parts of the desk. for those that are interested, i go for the red pearloid fender mediums.
2tune-o-matic bridges and a stopbar
2 fender trem systems

i keep some of those in boxes, but most are just piled up around the desk

as for oddities that dont really go together:

a harmonica
an ashtray
half a pack of cigarettes (ABSOLUTELY necessary to deal with all the things in the first list), and loose cigarettes just rolling around the desk like tumbleweeds.
4 lighters that i can see at the moment
pens, markers and pencils
a red light bulb
candles

my monitor
surge blocker
keyboard
speakers
printer

Right now? Okay... here goes.

A Compaq 17" monitor with two JBL speakers mounted on it.
A Compaq Presario 6000 Desktop Computer. With a model of a Sword Striker Gundam posed on top. Don't ask concerning both.
An HP deskjep 640c printer.
A PS/2 mouse, and a PS/2 keyboard, both by Compaq.
My Dell Inspiron 4100 Laptop computer. My precious child for the time being.
A CD spindle with about 20 CDs I'm too lazy to put away and about 50 blanks.
A cup that used to hold milk.
Cleaning solution for contacts and a contacts holder.
A canister of Kirkland Signature Household Surface Wipes. More useful than you'd think.
An empty box for a Palm m500 AC Adapter I just bought.
A Palm m500 and docking station, with AC Adapter and carrying case, which cost me $20.
A batteries-only talking alarm clock that's fallen down more times than it really deserves.
My glasses, with an outdated Bugle Boy frame and thick lenses.
A TV remote control.
My wallet.
A plastic box 1/3 full of Wild Berry Burst Cheerios.
A half-finished roll of paper towels.
An exacto knife. Heh heh...
Some wrappers for a Tootsie-Pop I ate.
My cell-phone with headset.
A lamp.
A disconnected PS/2 mouse, this one made by Dell.
A pair earbuds for listening to my J-POP / Anime / Game OST music.
A toothpick..
A rubber band.
My Computer Science 50 homework assignment.

It depends.

If my desk is CLEANED (which it mostly isn't):

* Computer screen
* Printer
* Modem
* Earphones
* Answering Machine
* Notepad and pen (good for writing down messages from forums and chat)

Now, if my desk ISN'T CLEANED, it could be anything, but currently:

* Loads of books
* Guitar tuner (I know how you feel, Rhoads! laugh.gif )
* Guitar picks
* Metronome
* Paper
* LOADS of Coke cans
* Weird plastic things
* CD:s
...But the list has been longer.

Okay, let's see...

Computer monitor
Keyboard
Speakers
A "mouse rug" with pictures of dragons on it (plus my mouse, duh tongue.gif)
A small square pad of paper with the logo of a company my uncle used to work for on it
Pieces of paper from said pad with various doodles and notes on them
My binder
A large pad of yellow lined paper
Printer
My Random Quote Book
Notes for my Syntax II class
A bunch of random newspaper clippings
Two burned CDs with lessons on them from Japanese classes I've already taken
A pencil
Blank character sheets for In Nomine
A black folder (dunno what's in it)
A red spiral-bound notebook that says "THIS IS FOR TELEPHONE MESSAGES" on the cover, but it's really not smile.gif
Game box for Gothic
Game manual for Gothic
Game manual for Myst III: Exile
A ceramic vase-cup-jar type thing containing assorted pens (none of which are the kind I like to use)
A few other random papers
Two clear plastic drawer-type things containg random stuff like batteries and power cords
A set of shelves containing...

Left bottom:
Scanner
Set of small screwdrivers
Plastic file container thingy full of maps

Left top:
A little teeny digital clock
Random envelopes and stationery

Middle:
Game box for Black & White (Man, I wish that game worked on my computer...)
CD/Tape player/radio that sorta works
Stapler
Set of headphones
Two pads of sticky-notes
A few more random papers

Right top:
Stacked file trays containing a phone book and a whole bunch of scrap paper
Another plastic file container with program CD-ROMs in it

Right top-middle:
A bunch of game CD-ROMs, plus some non-game program CD-ROMs
A small stack of game manuals
A black contraption that I believe is a CD holder

Right bottom-middle:
Three black drawer-type things containing floppy disks
A small black container with more floppy disks in it

Right bottom:
Two more black drawer-type things, one with CD-ROMs in it, the other with floppy disks
Another black CD holder
Another plastic file container thingy, also with CD-ROMs in it

And at the very top of the whole shebang is a row of books, most of which are computer-related, but some are old school textbooks; there are also a bunch of white binders, spiral-bound notebooks, folders, and back-issues of PC Magazine.

Now aren't you glad you asked? happy.gif

My desk pic

This is from 2 weeks ago. I share the bedroom with my 11 yr old bro so some of his stuff is up on top. I usually have some kind of snack goin' on. This time it was baked tortilla chips, salsa and of course Vanilla Coke.

Good idea, i90! And that's a nice desk you have there.

Have a look at my shelf

Yes, that's right, shelf. It works fine, and it's temporary, but right now I use a shelf that broke off of a real desk, that our roomate is currently using. Why does he have the desk, and I get the shelf? It's a long story :-P
