FF4: Edward's Harp... One word: WHhhaaaattTTT?
Yang's Wife's Spoon/Kitchen Knife... A kitchen utensil more powerful than the holy Excalibur... FF6: Locke's Hawkeye Weapon... If you throw it at a flying creature...how the hell does he get it back? Setzer's Dice and Cards... get real... it's not like he's Gambit from X-Men or something. Relm's Paintbrush... riiiiiight... Edgar's Flash... somehow... shining a really bright light in your eyes causes more instant damage than a pair of autocrossbow bolts sticking themselves in your chest. Edgar's Debilitator... uhhh... I don't there's a more... interesting... weapon. Edgar's Air Anchor... along with the debilitator, I'm still wondering how this can physically even operate. FF7: Cloud's Buster Sword. Bigger than the ones other SOLDIER's use. WAY bigger. Barret's Cannon Ball. You know... cannon balls are sometimes filled with gunpowder. If I were Barret, I wouldn't bash people with it. Cait Sith's Megaphone... ...................... FF8: Rinoa's Pinwheel. An oversized blade that also boomerangs back to it's owner's wrist. FF9: Stage Magic... pretty... and it took me a while to realize that it did absolutely nothing for damage. SO WHAT IF I'M SOMETIMES SLOW?! ::cries in his little corner:: FF10: Lulu's Dolls... Evidently, Square Enix didn't learn from Ogre Battle's Doll Master. Meh... |

Bags were the most retarded weapons in the HISTORY of FF. I mean, they were only good for Status Effects, but if I'm correct, they do POSITIVE EFFECTS! Why would you want to Regen an enemy????

I agree with RoyalKnight... Cait Sith's megaphone always left me scratching my head as it dealt damage. The same goes to Edward's harp, although I was a fan of the fact that the singing ability inflicted status ailments on the enemy.
Cait Sith's megaphone, though..... in a word, worthless. -------------------- Je ne t'aime plus, Mon amour... Je ne t'aime plus, Tous les jours... |

I think we've mentioned it in this very thread once or twice. The magephone was used to shout commands to the huge stuffed Moogle, and the Moogle did as he was commanded. Now as to how the Megaphone got better, I have no clue. But getting better megaphones means more materia slots, but not more attack power ![]() -------------------- Wow. 1,000 posts. As far as the books go.........itd be kinda cool it the books was used to read like a generic damage spell at an enemy......im not sure if thats what happens, Ive never played FFIII
And, to me, Setzer's playing cards are an obvious refernce to Gambit from X-men.......same attack, similar personality types, similar trenchcoats? |

The most absurd weapon I'd have to say would be Sephiroths Masamune, I mean the blade of the sword was larger than 3, 7' tall men combined...noone would be able to even grasp the hilt of the sword, and even if they did they onlt get it so high and the blade wouldnt move off the ground.
P.S. ever notice how he wields it with ease with only 1 hand!!!! ![]() -------------------- "If Satan is the prince of darkness, then that would make me the KING!" |

Actually, Sephiroth's Masamune looks like (when it's stabbed into the president of Shinra Corp.) it's only about 8-9 feet long. And something so thin wouldn't weigh that much, so it's not that impractical. Edgar's Air Anchor (of FFVI fame) is, though, unless it ties anchors to the enemies and makes them rip their necks off (then how do you kill stuff that doesn't have a neck?).

Lulu's dolls were totally stupid. Sure, it was cute to see a little moogle running forwards and slamming the enemy (it really annoyed me that was all moogles were used for) but seriously....stupid.
She should have used Tarot cards, like Setzer. Pre-imbued with black magic, (note I say pre-imbued, so it doesn't cost MP). She's a black mage, it would be a lot more realistic. -------------------- "Luck is my middle name. Ok, so the dolls didn't do much damage and were kinda dumb, but they were pretty good, I mean, if you can find a death-touch cait sith early in FFX you're in pretty good shape. The Onion Knight is also pretty cool I think.
The megaphone is stupid, yes, but I mostly hate it because I mostly hated FFVII Cait Sith's personality. They are effective weapons. Cait Sith just sucks in terms of being an effective character because his limit breaks are useless. Relm's paintbrush is truly worthless. She is much more effective with a Magus Rod. I thought the FFVII "funny" weapons were quite worthless because they have no materia slots. They are powerful in terms of weapon strength and the fact that they raise your critical hit rate, but without materia slots what's the point? -------------------- "Hit hard, hit first, hit often." --Adm. Quote C'mon peoples? None from FFVI? I know they got mostly cool weapons, but what is the use for Setzer's various gambling equipment, like Cards, Dice, and Trump? These just don't have any real life attack value at all. I don't count ALL of Setzer's weapons to be useless, I mean, the Darts are pretty cool... Whoa, easy there. Setzer is the man... anyone who doubts him will face death by fixed dice, random espers, sheets of the colour spectrum, and the occasional bunny in a funny hat. ![]() In all seriousness, though.... Setzer is the man and a half. Quote I want to tack on the Masamune from FFI to my list. The idea of the best weapon being a sword able to be used by ANYBODY just bugs the heck outta me. True, DP. Ultimate weapons for individual characters are much more intriguing, especially when they bring forth heartfelt character development. Well, baseball bats and mops can actually be used as weapons.
I would think that Setzer's dice are somehow "magical"--not magic-based, but have some weird supernatural property that allows them to determine damage by their rolls. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. Quote (Dark Paladin @ 15th November 2003 17:58) All of Cloud's swords and Sephiroth's Masamune were so completely unbalanced to the point of them being useless. That is not entirely true...although the buster sword was huge and unbalanced and the masamune also, the Murasame and the Yoshiyuki were about the average size for a sword...thus not making them "unbalanced"...unless you think ever warrior in asian history was not able to weild his weapon! The hair PIN (not clip) was also rediculous and uhhh...Aerith's weapons were all just annoying for the simple reason that when they struck they all made that annoying pong noise and they were ALL weak (yes her name WAS Aerith...you saw the name Aeris in the game because there were no Americans or anyone with the native language english during translation...they were all asian... that is why you practically had to get a note book out and write everything down when a new part was added in the story line her name actually translated to Aerith though). And also Cait having to roll dice for his limit break was freakin' stupid too!!! ![]() -------------------- Climhazzard is the timeless evil robot who runs some of the cool stuff at CoN (mostly logging chat, since there are no quizzes at the moment), all the while watching and waiting for his moment to take over the world. -Tiddles |

Cait Sith's Megaphone!!! Oh, and a Keyblade. Omg, the idea of a Key as a weapon... I always thought that was stupid.
Also Relm's paintbrush.. haha, that's kinda funny. one thing I personally that was stupid, was a Ball! Wakka in FFX, uses a ball to kill enemies. Hehe, some people don't think there's anything wrong with a ball... but, I do. |

I think Excalibur should have had something to fit the etymology alittle better. The only ones it did were FFIII and FFIV (sort of). In FFIII, you actually found it in the a stone, and in FFIV it was made from a stone. FFV was kind of close with the seal thing, though. That and the fact that the REAL people who used to fight with swords and regularly died while sword fighting used LIGHT swords that were rarely longer than four feet and absolutely no longer than 4.5 feet. It is very difficult to stab someone with a 5 or 6 foot sword. And if you want to slice or cut someone there are better alternatives such as polearms, axes, glaives... -------------------- ''The modern dictators are reviving a very ancient and encrusted way of life.''
