Does anyone know what the Relic Ring does? The description "makes body cold" is not helpful. Is Umaro the only one that can use it?
Is this relic worth holding on to? I was going to bet it away at the Colloseum ultimately for another Gold Hairpin. Any advice? Thanks, -- amosender |

Here, try this.
As for it's worth, I would probably just fight some Brachiosaurs. You get Economizers when you beat 'em, so then, if you get 4 Economizers, you don't need any more Gold Hairpins! The Relic Ring makes you Undead. There are special properties for Undead regarding spells. Any char can wear it, not just Umaro. It has its uses, but you have to change your battle plans. No more casting Cure3 and targeting the whole party, for instance.
Cure and Healing potions do damage (not heal). Doom will full heal them. Drain and Osmose work in reverse giving hp/mp away, not gaining. Note: However, when a monster casts Drain on you, you will Drain from them. hehehe There was one difference between Relic Ring undead and monster undead, but I can't remember what it was. There was another strange thing about that Ring. I remember something like, if you die with the Relic Ring on, you cannot be revived with Life, Life2 or Phoenix Down. I believe you are plain old dead until the battle is over. Can anyone confirm this? |

It makes you undead, but not zombified. Most of the properties have already been outlined.
Also, if you use a Phoenix Down on the--um, living undead character--he/she dies. Uh--well, it's kinda like casting Doom on a regular living character. If you use Phoenix Downs on zombie enemies, likewise, you can kill them instantly. I'm not sure if you become more susceptible to fire magic, like zombies are, though. If you're wounded with the Relic Ring on, I think you're stuck that way until you're removed from the party somehow, stay at an inn, or have a Sleeping Bag/Tent used on you. |

I've tried wearing this little bugger and I have to say...
Bet it away! I can't see a single plus of this relic except not being able to be zombified (so far). As for undead monsters, I always stock up Phoenix Downs and just toss away. They're a 100% full proof way of destroying undead. (in FFVI.) -------------------- "I fell off the mountain of words at around the 10,000ft mark. What happens if you use a revivify on a Relic Ring wearer? I know that's a cheaper way to kill undead monsters than a phoenix down.

Thanks all. I will probably trade the Relic Ring for something more useful, but it may be fun to play around with for a while.
As for fighting Brachosaurs, I love to fight them and get Economizers, but they are so rare. I don't like levelling up on the 25 TRex's before I get to fight 1 Brachosaur. Would smokebombs / warp work to skip the boring stuff, or will that only delay getting to fight a Brachosaur? Thanks again, - amosender |

If you don't want it, and are planning to get economizers, then figure out which is worth more between the Gold Hairpin and Relic Ring (and whatever the G. Hairpin becomes if you want to fight that much in the Colosseum), and sell that one.

It's not that bad. It helped out quite a bit when fighting Chadarnook with only low-level Gogo and Umaro (Gogo had it, and suddenly Countdown wasn't such a big deal
