So if I converted Ragnarok into the sword, then got Illumina from the Colloseum, then I cannot use metamorph?
Also, how do you beat Seigfried's "hyperdrive" attack in the Colloseum? It dishes out 7000+ damage every time... grrr. Thanks, -- amosender |

Correct. If you opted for the Ragnarok Sword, then there's no way to get the Ragnarok esper, meaning that you can't Metamorph items. You won't be able to learn Ultima the regular way either, unless you use the Paladin Shield. Terra will learn Ultima through level progression, as well.
Zeigfried is one tough customer, it's true. His Hyperdrive and Shrapnel attacks are hard to weather, especially since the battle is one-on-one, and you have no control over your character. My advice is to level like crazy, but I'm sure ZED will be able to come up with some insanely obscure loophole strategy to beat him. ![]() -------------------- "I always have a quotation for everything - it saves original thinking." ~Dorothy L. My friend beat Siegfried like this: He leveled up Cyan and gave him great equipment, then he was lucky to get a "Quadra Slice" in the beginning of the battle, the four hits beat Siegfried directly. Nice!

You can still use Metamorph, even in the WOB, but it's torture and requires either save states (if you have a ROM, take this route, the frustration will anger you to no end if you don't) or willpower and time that stretches beyond mortal limits, and I *highly* doubt you have the latter. In the WOR, same thing, but Gogo's Mimic makes things MUCH easier. For this, just use Magicite or (preferably) Setzer's 3-BAR. There's a small chance for them to use Metamorph, and the hit rate for the summon is not very good when trying to get good items, so save state before confirming the use of either (for 3-BAR, just after confirming the last reel). For every attempt at Metamorph, to be safe, don't reload state, but use Magicite or 3-BAR again. I prefer you to use 3-BAR because 1) it's free and 2) if you get Metamorph with Gogo on the team, you can have it Mimic Metamorph instead of reattempting a random summon. If you're doing this on a console, the prize may not be worth the frustration, but it's your choice.
If you have trouble getting 3-BAR, click here for my Slot ability guide. It'll tell you almost everything there is to know about using Slot, the main point obviously to tell you how to force the game into giving you whatever Slot combination you desire, including Setzer's ultimate technique, Joker Doom. As for Siegfried... Siegfried only has HyperDrive to scare you with, and there's only a 1 in 4 chance he'll use it. He'll Fight you half the time and the last quarter he'll use Shrapnel, both of which good M.Block will take care of. As for weaknesses, he has a lot; he's immune to Debilitator, but the secret there is the fact that he is weak to all elements, so any elemental weapon will deliver extra damage, that is to say nothing of his being human which Man Eater will take care of. Also, the only status immunities he carries are Petrify, instant death, and Condemned, meaning you can annihilate the bastard on status alone. Edgar could use NoiseBlaster and he'll HyperDrive himself into the ground. You could use my DragoonBoots/Dragon Horn/Stunner strategy for Shadow vs. Chupon against him (Stunner has a better chance of using Stop with multiple hits, and coming from a weapon, spells are unblockable, so only immunity could get in the way), even Imp him using the same strategy I do vs. Pug when Step Mine goes to 9999 damage (take a Magic ability-neglected character, make their only spell Imp through the use of Imp equipment, and send that person to battle), although in this case, Stray would do just as well since Muddle can also work. The only advantages Siegfried has are above-average Bat.Pwr (53, that's good for an enemy), 25 M.Block (and Evade too if you fixed the Evade bug on your ROM), 90 Speed, automatic Safe, and if you take the Imp route, he'll always get critical hits in the transformed state. So I recommend you make use of his status vulnerabilities first and elementals/human second, if at all. Don't think Mute will save you though, as it won't stop HyperDrive. Focus on something else debilitating such as Stop and Imp. He has 32760 HP, so do get someone that can deal good damage. -------------------- |
