This poll was inspired by a side topic touched on in a thread in the favorite character from SMRPG topic in "General Squenix Gaming".
So, are Booster and Wario related? Some have said they look alike, while others argue that their personalities are too different. But are they?--some say they are rather similar. So what's your take on this? Are they related, and if they are, how so, and why do you think so? -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. Before I answer--does anyone know how exactly Wario and Mario are connected (as well as Luigi and Waluigi)? I'd imagine something of the sort would be in effect here.
Aren't Mario and Luigi generally the only humans in the Mushroom Kingdom (save for their evil twins), anyway? |

I say that they're probably brothers. They look alike, I think they act a little alike although Booster is a little more immature (like a little brother).
I think that in reality Booster was probably Wario's forerunner (or was it midrunner?). Nintendo probably was looking for a new villain (or hero, didn't Wario have his own game before he was in one with Mario?) and just found old Booster sketches. Maybe, "Hey, Booster was pretty cool. Let's just take his sketches, maybe change his clothes, give him a trim of facial hair, and call him Wario!" Nintendo has gotten lazy over the years. Don't believe me? play these games, then: Paper Mario (mostly 2D characters in a 3D world) Yoshi's Story (Again, 2D environment - a side scroller) Both of these games were made in a time when Nintendo certainly had the capability to produce awesome, 3D games. But they didn't. I don't own a Gamecube, so I don't know what they're producing now. -------------------- Wow. 1,000 posts. I miss you all now that I'm in boarding school! ;_; |

Other than them both looking somewhat like an electrocuted Mario on crack, they aren't alike

I found a page with a nice, big render of Booster.
Here. Officially I don't think he's related, but from this picture he seems just as likely related to one of the Cids. (Here, bozratches!) Quote Nintendo has gotten lazy over the years. The problem with those games have nothing to do with being 2D. The problems are that Yoshi's Story sucked (after the awesome Yoshi's Island we get THAT?), and Paper Mario was a cool idea that only really suffered in the simplified battle system, in my opinion. The N64 had great 3D Nintendo games, just not enough of them. The Gamecube is far better with its lineup of great 3D games (although I prefer 2D gameplay personally). However, your Booster/Wario theory is interesting. I've heard a similar one brought up when discussion Knuckles/Tails and Sonic 2: The Hidden Palace in Sonic 2 beta may have been intended to be a secret level and only Tails (who would be the guardian of the Master Emerald found in the Hidden Palace zone) could access it. However, that never came to be but the Master Emerald and guardian concept was used for Sonic 3 & Knuckles. This post has been edited by AndrewTS on 21st December 2003 22:55 |
