this flu season has really sucked, whole schools have been closed down, slowing down progress on my prank *if you read the prank of the year thread*, there have been wrestling meets canceled, this stupid flu cost me my first loss, because of it i passed out during the match, while attempting to shoot a double, at least i didn't get pinned though, i only lost 2-6, i still took 3rd, but the loss broke my chain of no losses, and cost me getting 1st and, most outstanding wrestler for lighter weights of the tournament.

how has the flu ruined your life.
it is sure annoying mine

Flu season hasn't really kicked in here... but when it kicks in, it's everyone's problem... I remember last year that there was a total of 200 absences in a 2 week span... and if you think about how my school has a 450 student count, that's a big %. S'ok though... I have a naturally strong immune system. Before this year, I didn't miss a day of school because of illness since freshman year of high school.

Yeah, flu season does suck. I haven't gotten it this year, but I know a lot of the schools have been closed in my area (I live in Kentucky). Meh.

People have been hit hard here and I've been waiting for my turn. However I've yet to get it.

Around here my mom and brother have been sick for 2 weeks. I haven't been sick in 3 years, plus my co-workers are fine here in the Chicago area.

I used to get sick all the time. Every flu season I used to be home sick. This year, however, I haven't gotten sick. Immune systems are cool.

Flu. Never had it in me life. which is bad cos it means im not immune to ANY strain of it! thumbdown.gif
But ive had so many colds surely i must be immune to ... oooh, 1% of the strains?

Thank goodness the really nasty viruses dont change too much....

i have yet to get the flu, and that is a good thing. last time i got it i still lived with my parents and the jerks wouldnt take me to the doctor. What a bunch of buttholes! Anyway, i think i am invincible to the sickness now due to that run-in, cuz everyone i live with now has it, and the flu is resisting all attempts to get me. So all's well that ends well.

hey cloud, sorry to hear that. i hope you can win the wrestling thing next year.

Well, I get the standard cold every year, but I haven't had the flu in years. Can't remember the last time I was sick and puked or anything, out of just the flu or whatever. Maybe 4th or 5th grade, and I'm a senior now. A lot of people, mostly girls, have been coming down with it in my classes, but for the most part it's just standard. Not anymore than usual, though everyone talks about how it's the worst flu season in years or something.

Well, the flu isn't as bad or common down here as where ya'll are, but as I type this, I am feeling sick. I have strept or mono or something. I don't know what. But I feel horrible.

You know, there's this thing that modern medicine has called flu shots...try it sometime.

>_>

I'm sorry to anyone who is sick, but I know that in Florida at least, there was a media bombardment of "Get your flu shots!" I did, and I'm not sick.

The nation is going to run out of the flu vaccine real soon, I hear. I know that they're running out really quickly up here. So, if you get a flu shot, better get one before it disappears... literally. I personally don't get a flu shot. The one time that I did get a flu shot about 3 or 4 years ago, the following week I was violently ill. Don't know if my body rejected the medicine or if I was immune to it or what, but I had it bad. Said "Well, [screw] this...". Haven't had a flu shot since then and I never had influenza as bad as that time since then.

your flu vaccine didnt work as theres numeorus different strains. The vaccine you were given induced your body to produce antibodies for a certian type of flu. the one you caught had soem difference to types your body is immune to, so you got the flu. Thats why theres no vaccien for the cold: theres 100+ varaints of the little beggar.

Don't know which illness it was, but on Dec. 12 (right before I flew back to CT) I became deliriously sick. I was groaning, and writhing, and was freezing and hot at the same time, and couldn't even sleep. sad.gif

Usually I'm in tip-top condition since I keep in good shape. Funny thing is that I got so crazy sick in California, and here in freezing wintertime Connecticut I'm usually A-OK. thumbup.gif

Has anyone noticed the trend that every year the flu bug is getting worse and stronger? Sure they create a new vaccine every year, but in doing so the are cause the bug to evolve more rapidly and become stronger and more resistant to medicine. I myself haven't had it yet *knocks on wood*, but several people I know have. I have also heard that a couple of schools closed down for a few days around here. About four years ago I woke up on Christmas morning with it, it's going to piss me off if that happend again.

Not as such, as ive said before, it may be its just stonger starins come along each year. The vaccines dont cause any real probelm- the virus mutates by its own accord if at all.

You're right Hanyou, it does suck how flus and such are getting stronger. Keep in mind guys, that improper use of anitibiotics is responsible for the increased strength of viruses like influenza(flu). When antibiotics first came out nobody knew that if you don't kill a virus completely once you start on the antibiotics, you then create a new strain invincible to that particular antibiotic. It was a kind of a goof on the part of the medical field, but now your doctor will say "You have to finish the entire prescription, young man!" to prevent worse viruses.

Despite all that, a lot of people eat stuff like McDonald's,and that'll make the nation sick even without any new diseases. wacko.gif
