Naming them is ludicrous, I suggest numbers only.
Otherwise, the list is gonna be pretty long. For example, a partial answer to this would be all monsters that can show up on the Veldt. Yes, ALL of them. Do we really need a list that long? -------------------- |

I am not looking for the theoretical answer 'all enemies, bosses, NPCs and character that are not immune to MORPH'. This would require hacking your game. I am only interested in the number which you can actually get MORPH status on in an unhacked game. The above theoretical solution would be somewhere in the mid to high 300s. The Veldt monsters (254), which is a significant subset of this group is also not correct. Also far too high.
Please clarify. Let's try to settle this with an example. Rhinox is a normal enemy that appears on the Veldt, both alone and as a pair, and is not immune to MORPH status. Can you please explain how Rhinox could acquire MORPH status (without hacking/gamegenie-ing your game)? |

NO ONE is immune to Morph, let's get that straight right now. Status byte 4 immunity is only used in one instance; Float.
And this isn't theoretical. From my glitches/bugs guide: Quote Rippler trades everything - It was supposed to switch only what was listed in its stats, but due to more bad code, every status from Dark to Float is switched. If you lost Interceptor, you fell prey to this bug. This isn't an entirely negative bug however; through a little manipulation of aiming using Muddled status, you can also switch Rage and Morph between characters w/out the help of Reach Frogs. This is the only way that any character not named Terra can Morph, and the only way Strago can go into a Rage or Dance. With Reach Frogs though, it's possible anyone can Dance or go into a Rage. Status that Rippler, under bug-free conditions, would trade include Dark, Zombie, Poison, Clear, Imp, Condemned, Image, Mute, Berserk, Muddled, Seizure, Psyche/Sleep, Regen, Slow, Haste, Stop, Shell, Safe, Reflect, Life 3, and Float. IOW, once you have Strago/Gogo and Terra in the same party in the WOR, it is possible for absolutely anyone to Morph. From all main characters and the two hidden characters to all Veldt monsters and all remaining boss monsters. So to clarify upon rethinking my request, how about excluding Rippler from your question? ![]() -------------------- |

Quick addendum (I think that's what you call additions to messages) to Master ZED's post: According to Zeppelin's FFVI shrine on rpgclassics.com, Rippler is learned from DarkForce, BlueDrgn, and Reach Frog, so you can do it to anything once you get both Strago and get a Reach Frog to use Rippler during battle.

There seems to be some misunderstanding about my question.
I think it can be cleared up if you will demonstrate clearly how Rhyos 'could' get the MORPH status during a non-hacked game. |

Simple. Let's say Strago and Terra are on the same team, Strago knows Rippler, Terra knows Muddle, and Strago is unprotected from the Muddled status. For the sake of argument, Rhyos never moves...
1. Have Terra Morph. 2. Terra uses Muddle on Strago, but before the spell is cast (or during the cast), have Strago choose to use Rippler. 3. Once Muddled, Strago's aim will be changed from the enemy to a random party member. Out of the two, we'll assume the chosen member was Terra. 4. Due to the Rippler bug, Strago will have Morph. 5. Once Strago's turn comes up, use Rippler on Rhyos to transfer Morph status to it. I forget whether it affects enemies, but they can have the status nonetheless. To confirm, use Rippler again on Rhyos and Strago should be Morphed again. -------------------- |

THAT is very cool! I was not aware of this Muddle trick. I was aware of the Rippler properties. So lets amend the question.
How many enemies, bosses, NPCs and characters can gain the MORPH status without anyone having the MUDDLE status? Name them. |

Just a stupid guess: Terra and Gogo....and Maduin?
I am unsure if Gogo can morph actually, whether through mimic or if its even available to him in his customized menu. Madiun has a 'morphed' sprite, but not an ability. My question is: Is there any way to know if a monster can morph without hacking the code or looking up a website which hacked the code for you? I absolutely do not ever recall seeing a "Darkleaf begins to morph!" text box in the game, so how are we supposed what monsters morph? |

Hmmmm...does Umaro count? I mean, when you fight him in Narshe, he uses a Green Cherry on himself and boosts his stats, that looks like a morph effect in my eyes.

The answer is not 3 (Terra, Gogo, Maduin).
The answer is not 1 (Umaro). His Green Cherry special has nothing to do with the MORPH command/skill/status. If this question is not answered by tonight, I will solve it. It has been up for quite a while and had very little interest. I thought it was a great question. Easy to solve if you just think about it a little and Zed already gave you the greatest hint of all. The MORPH status can be seen in the status window (try selecting CURE from the magic window, then when you return to the combat window, the statuses for each character will be listed to the left of their names). Also, when a char has the MORPH status, their Magic Damage done is doubled and the Magic Damage received is halved. This post has been edited by Detah on 20th December 2003 17:41 |

My final guess is 7: Terra, Strago, Gogo, Dark Force, Reach Frog, Gigan Toad, Blue Dragon.
Edit: added Gogo This post has been edited by 1stclass on 20th December 2003 18:10 |

Okay: First, you have the only item that can start out a "Morph-by-Rippler" chain: Terra. She's the only person who can morph. Rippler must be used on her to pass it on. (Gogo cannot choose Morph on his/her battle menu).
Then you have any enemy who can cast Rippler: Dark Force, Blue Dragon, and Reach Frog. They can get the Morph by using Rippler on a Morphed Terra. Then there are the characters who can cast Rippler on those enemies who have Morph on them. These are Strago and Gogo, since both of them can use the "Lore" command. (Gau and Relm are excluded since Sketch, Control, and Rage don't use Rippler.) Then there are the other enemies who don't use Rippler but who are in battle formations with enemies that do. These include (according to a Veldt monster formation listing): Geckorex (appears with ReachFrog) Retainer (appears with Dark Force) So that's a grand total of 8: Terra, Reach Frog, Dark Force, Strago, Gogo, Geckorex, and Retainer. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. You're all missing a key element here; Rippler takes, but also gives.
I just want to see someone answer it before Detah cancels the query. ![]() -------------------- |

ok, well, allow me to steal unashamedly from gmh -.-
dark force, reach frog, geckorex, retainer, bluedrgn, (/end steal) terra, locke, edgar, sabin, celes, relm, strago, shadow, mog, umaro, gogo, setzer. i do not believe that any of the rippler monsters can be encountered (without hacking) while general leo, ghost, vicks, or wedge are in the party, so that would be a grand total of 21 (16 party members and 5 monsters). |

Very good 1stClass, Gozaru~ and GMH-
You are extremely close, Gozaru~. But you have a few errors in your explanation, specifically that there are 14 standard playable characters with full commands, not 16: Celes, Cyan, Edgar, Gau, Gogo, Locke, Mog, Relm, Sabin, Setzer, Shadow, Strago, Terra and Umaro. Even with that correction and your counting mistake, 21 is very close and the closest to date, but still not correct. I'll give this contest until midnight EST, then I will solve it. I'm please to see the late interest in the question. I thought it was a fun one to think about. Good luck. Sorry, I feel asleep in the living room last night, meant to post. The answer is 7 , 1, 0 and 14 (=22). And they are Chitonid, Dark Force, Geckorex, GiganToad, Osprey, Reach Frog, Retainer, Blue Dragon, Celes, Cyan, Edgar, Gau, Gogo, Locke, Mog, Relm, Sabin, Setzer, Shadow, Strago, Terra and Umaro. I relinquish my turn and now anyone may post the next question. This post has been edited by Detah on 21st December 2003 20:57 |

How can you get back to the world of balence once you're in the world of ruin? Edit Yes, I've done it, so it can be done (in my version of the game, at least). This post has been edited by Iain Peregrine on 21st December 2003 22:19 |

No, it is possible to travel back to the world of balence, and walk around and fight monster and visit towns and buy items and drink hot chocolate with friends and learn Mog's water rondo and all that nice stuff. How?

In the original Japanese version of FF6 you can go back to the WoB through a glitch. If you leave at least one group of rats on the rafters in the Opera House, you can go back and fight them in the WoR. If you lose the battle, you end up at the entrance to the Opera House in the WoB. I may have this a little mixed up but I think I'm close, if not right.
