Don't ask me why, but I think that the pugs of FFVI are cute. That's why I started this thread. Has anyone else ever found a monster to be cute, and what is it (and what game is it from)?

Addendum: (from my next post) Just in case someone who visits this might not know it: the "Pug" and "Pugs" of FFVI are the same as tonberries. (Does anyone know why that name was changed?)

Cute monsters ehh. Well, I'm not really one to classify monsters cut, but if I had to choose it would have to be the tomberry. Yeah, that would be mine.

Are you talking about the rabite. They looked like little yellow bunnys without any feet. You fight them in the beginning of the game. Cause if you are, I agree. I think there awsome. I want a pet rabite .

No idea about the reason for the name change, but I always thought the Tonberries/pugs were mondo cute (I like the Tonberry name more, by the way).

The FF series has been swarming with well designed cute monsters, especially considering the Chocobos, Moogles, and Cactuars that have been in so many of the games. Lulu's "Space Power" weapon was originally an enemy in an FF8 sidequest, and that thing is a god of cuteness. Other than that I can't think of any more. I'm curious if anyone likes any that are slipping my mind.

Cactuar, I guess. I'm not really a good judge of cutesy aesthetics.

Of course, I can't forget all of those crazy critters from Ragnarok Online, especially the Porings. I couldn't help but feel sorry for the little guys. (Until they stole my stuff, that is.)

The "cutsie" monsters didn't come around until those darn Tonberries (except... does Rydia count?). We need to go back to the good ol' days when monsters were monsters, not stuffed animals

Oh my god, the Moomba from FFVIII is the cutest thing I've ever seen in my entire LIFE. The whole time I was in the Desert Prison as Zell with one following me around, I was just riveted to the screen. I simply could not believe how adorable that thing was. And after Zell got the party's weapons back and the whole party did that little pose thing, and the Moomba got one too, I almost died of cuteness. </gush>

If we're talking actual enemy monsters, though, that's a tougher call. The Tonberries are cute, yes, but they're annoying and dangerous enough that they tend to slip a bit on my list. I also like those slug creatures from FFIV (I'm pretty sure one of the palette swaps is simply called "Slug"). Yes, I'm weird, but I think slugs and snails (especially snails) are cute. And those particular slugs are all pudgy and curled up and awwwwww.

Oh yeah, and I like the Fleas from Breath of Fire, with their big eyes and wacky hairdos. And the MiniDragons from FFV, even though they can kick your butt if you're not careful. Ooh ooh! And Carbuncle! Carbuncle is absolutely adorable. I especially like the way it gets summoned in VIII, when it pokes its head out of the ground and looks around.

Gau is a cute monster too...

Man, there's a whole slew of cute monsters in (and outside) the FF world, the Dinglberries/Pugs/Tonberries being the most recognizable, I think. Then there's Cactuars/Cactrots, Moogles (they may not be monsters, but if Moombas count, then so do these guys), Moombas, Chocobos...hm, oh, and the little Rhodox family (the giant mice) from FF VI are pretty cute. Lulu's dolls were pretty cool as well. As for debatably cute monsters, I always liked the Leap Frog in VI, and the Porky family in Tactics. And if you really want something cute yet volatile, I suppose Bombs would fit into that category as well.

I actually think one of the most intriguing facts is that Tonberries/Pugs are cute but also deadly.

I think cactuars are cute. They laugh so much! It's adorable, even when they're kililng you!

I love the various plant monsters from the Lunar games. They look like bushes, but they have flowers all over their heads, and big toothy grins. Just darling.

i believe moogles are the cutest, there white fur and cute eyes resemble that of a teddy bear awww
but they can also lay the smack down, such as the moogles in FFVI, and they help you out all of these reasons are why they are my favorite

Enoughtabout the twins: the cute monsters were all dead... by the time i looked at the screen

FF V: The cute ones were always the ones who died asap

The Magic Urns in the Fanatic's Tower in FF6. Those guys rock. They look kinda like gremlins in a jar too, and they heal you and give you MP.

What about Chrono Triggers Rolys? (and Polys etc.)
They're so innocent looking and sweet...(how good that they're only in the game - I wouldn't bring myself to killing such sweetness otherwise)
Of course Garnet/Carbunkle are the sweetest little things.
And for FFVI there are the Rhobites, Leafers and Tabbys. *hugs FFVI monsters*

Yes, the blue alien from FF8's sidequest is also one of Lulu's dolls in FFX.

Now that I think some more; the little robot-penguin looking things in Cosmo Canyon in FF7 were kind of cute too, though they attacked like crazy.

Ooh ooh! I've just been playing BoFII, and now I have another cute monster to add to my list. The Goblins!! They're little more than heads on little stumpy legs, but they're ADORABLE!! I love how they have to open their mouths so impossibly wide to bite you, and I like the little ear-twitches they do every so often.

Still not as cute as the Moombas, though.

Along with Ejoty, Pupu was the ultimate in monster cuteness (and his card was rad...it had an "A" but the rest were all weak numbers )

...And wasn't Neslug from FFX really cute too? </sarcasm>
