Which class do you all think is the most worthless, pathetic, horrible, crappies class in the game? For me its Bard. First of all its the class that Edward (FFIV) belonged to, that alone is enough to classify it as the worse. Not to mention their attacks are weak and abilities are probably the worse in the game.

Quote (BGrugby @ 10th November 2003 02:19) ...its Bard. First of all its the class that Edward (FFIV) belonged to, that alone is enough to classify it as the worse. Not to mention their attacks are weak and abilities are probably the worse in the game. I disagree, I found that the Bard class had numerous uses. For one, if you get someone the ability Life Song or Angel Song, and have them sit there and sing, you get EXP/JP very quickly, because you sing more often than your turn comes around so you end up getting more EXP/JP than if you were to, say, Accumulate every turn. Secondly, the Bard has the ever useful Move +3 ability, which makes even the slow moving Knight move 6 spaces, without the aid of accessories (SP?). Note: while it would still be faster to use Ramza to Yell at people til their speed is at 50 then Accumulate 4x for every one enemy turn, that tends to be very mind numbing. That said, I think Square did a fabulous job on the class system in Tactics So, the verdict is, Archer. I hated to dancer/bard i found no use for them and to an unexperienced player a mime migth be a stupid class because if used improperly you will end upattacking yourself or wasting a sh*tload of time.

im a very experienced played and i still dont use the mime skill. I dont even use basic characters anymore... I use one character thats not special and hes always a samurai with throw ability. The worst job in my opinion, though, is thief. There is no point to thief after the first chapter unless you cheated(i dont advise) and give the thief 100% accuracy with theft. and they only use knives, which call for close combat, which i cant afford with such a weak character. The thiefs only "good" ability is the steal accessory ability, and its way too expensive to even be worth buying

I agree with #382 about the Archers. The same goes with Dragon Knights.

From my own experience, the class I almost never draw an Ability in is the Geomancer : bad Move Abilities, and the Action Abilities are not that powerful, unless you have very good power-up-ing equipment (Genji Glove comes to mind...). Other than that, I never used a Mime, but that's just because I like having a control over my characters.

It would have to be the barb. Since Edward is stupid and annoying in final fantasy ii, it would definately have to be a barb. I know final fantasy ii has nothing to do with tacics, but edward still ruined the class.

Personally, I would say Mediator: all they were really good for was the Equip Gun ability (Mustadio as a Knight with the Equip Gun ability....break from a distance.. s\/\/337). The invite thing is decent, but I found that the onbly creatures I needed was a Chocobo for the final battle against Gafgarion (Black chocobos saved my rear BIG time in that battle) but you get a chocobo begfore that without the Mediator, and you can let it make eggs and get a black chocobo natuarlly(SP) and nothing else of theirs is really that good.

You forget the Mediator's ability to raise and lower the Brave and Faith statistics, which are uncommonly useful for finding secret items. (Besides, a high Brave count for a warrior class is just a good idea in general, as it improves the chances for counter success and critical hits.) I'd say the most useless class was the Thief. Stealing things is fun, but definitely not necessary, as a good piece of equipment only goes so far. Besides, I doubt that the Thief's skills merited their pathetic HP, and utter inability to equip good weapons and armor. I'd say the only real uses for the Thief class are the valuable move bonuses, but even these are outclassed later on (much later on, admittedly). Everyone note that Edward is not, repeat not, in FFT, and basing your decision off of a totally different game is absolutely moronic.

The most useless class has to be Geomancer and theif. Geomancer because its elemental skill is so useless and theif cause they cant do any damage with there knives.

Why's everyone haterating on geomancers and thieves? Geomancers have good PA and fair HP, and their skills can win battle for you if the status effects work. And unlike oracles, they have no charge time!
And thieves can have twice as much speed as another character. Logically, doubling speed is like doubling move, PA and MA, since they get to move and act twice as much. And there's nothing that makes enemies such as Gaff killable like robbing the pants off of them. My least favorite class is oracle. They can blind and sleep and chicken and stuff. Wooo. I think that all classes have their merits. The Geomancer was an attempt at creating a Mage-Warrior crossover, and obvious, it didn't work out very well. Granted, the Geomancer is a weak class, but they still have PA comparable to a Knights, and MA comparable to a Priests. So if you can give them Equip Armor, and a decent back up skillset, they can actually be quite useful.
The Bard and Dancer were partically inveted for mastering Job classes. Find a place with a nice vantage point. (Mlapan is a nice choice.) Change a character who needs to master a class, into the class that they need to master, slap on Dancer or Sing as a backup ability, give them Gained JP UP, and have them Sin/Dance unti the battle is over. They will gain mad amounts of JP, and if you have Beowulf in the battle, he can cast Chicken on your enemies, allowing you to continue the chain even longer. Even more, this class has the Move +3, and Jump +3 abilities. Don't diss the Thief. Without him, you'd never be able to get the best guns in the game at Germinas Peak, nor would you be able to Poach, get the Genji Armor, or get Move +2/Jump +2. Since Males can't get Jump +3, and Females can't get Move +3, these two abilities alone, make this class very important. |

hmm... I agree, all of the jobs have their own little flare, it just depends on when and how you use them. Theives are good for weakening a human enemy by stealing his-her gear and getting rare items, bards and dancers have pretty decent abilities that can attack everyone on teh screen, and fast may i add, which not only helps you level up, but having a dancer in the corner using Witch Hunst can effectively kill off and magically based enemy in the game. Geomancers though, that's pushing it, the programmers should have made their abilities stronger, like an Elementalist from FFTA. However their still good for their status effects. And Oracles are just fine, Yin Yang magic comes in handy as a support ability, as does Defense Up. Oh, and I'm surprised that no one here mentioned Squire as the worst job, other than Accumulate and JP Up, there is really no reason to have one after the first 2 hours of the game. (I'm talking about a normal Squire and not Ramza's Uber Squire).

I find nothing wrong with the Squire. The Accumulate skill is useful for both quick Stat boosting and leveling up. Also, if your fighting in a place like Mlapan, Throw Stone is nice for sending an opponet off a cliff. Dash has a 100% chance of hitting, and therefore is useful against Ninja, of Thives, who have high C-EV. They also have Move +1 which is very useful in Act I. Heal is nice for batles against Goblins or Red Panthers who will use attacks that can inflict Poison or Darkness. Squires also have comparable base HP to a Knight at higher levels.
The main problem that I see in Squires is finding them a decent weapon. The best thing that they can equip is a Rune Blade. (Axes suck.) And unless you give them Equip Knife or something, they won't be doing heavy damager per attack. But they do have Accumulate, or could equip Two Hands or something. Finally, the Squire is the most basic class in the game. Comparing a normal Squire to Ramza's Squire class would be the equivalent of comparing a flyswatter to a shotgun. |

Yeah I agree, I just really wouldn't see a logical reason to have a Squire Job as a character's main class, maybe as a secondary one, but that's about it.

Yes, but in Act I, before the fight at Dorter, Squires with Item are extremely powerful and versatile for that point in the game.

Perhaps the reason the Bard is so crappy is that you just haven't learned how to use him right. Give him Equip Sword or Equip Armor, and maybe Punch Art or Battle Skill, and he becomes quite formidable, especially when you are using Last Song every now and then to give your party members extra turns. |

Calculators are far from bad. I've used the skills in the Calculator class to win many battles, and I'm sure you could too. The ability to bring back to life all my characters that have a level divisible by 2 without using any magic is quite handy. The most useless class for me would probably be Archer or Mime. I haven't been able to use either class with any effectiveness in battle. I have, however, seen the computer absolutely obliterate my troops with archers, so they must be good when used properly. I'm not sure about how well the Mime fares in battle, but I do see how it would be nice to, say, integrate it with a calculator and get your party to full life with double Cure spells. |

The Oralce is another overlooked class. If you hadn't forgotten, you can kill an enemy instantly with Petrify, or equip Move MP Up, and MP Switch to become invincible, as long as you keep moving.

for those of you who like to argue that theives have high speed...why would you pick a crappy class such as the thief for speed when you can get a way better one that does damage and has a few good skills. [ninja] ?

Can the ninja steal Genji armor and many other rares you can get no where else besides from stealing??
I think not. Anyways....do not even attempt to prove to me that Lancers are useless. 1.) Subing this with any physical attacking class would be a good decision. 2.) This class can get you into the fourth act with ease 3.) TheAntic from FFGurus came up with a practical use of JUMP, under ninja. 4.) Attacking from two squares away is helpful to avoid counters. 5.) Using jump you can do some area of affect damage against hero enemies, allowing you to whipe them out in one hit when you get within melee range O well, ill find some latter prolly, but lancers are NOT USELESS The most useless class is............chemist for a fighter and squire for a caster. All classes can be proven useful, that was the intention from making these jobs...so you could use any and find a use. Geomancers can be strong and with moderate faith can do some damage with Geomancy Thiefs can steal what you need and a good one could charm the opposition, which is as good as a TKO, or a free hit against the enemy 2 times. Bards have move +3 and you need lvl 2 archer for most good jobs. As you can see, all jobs have a use. . . . . . . Oracles stink.... time mages too....
