I was just wondering which weapon do you believe best suits Edgar?

okay, i believe the sword fits him better. however, i like spears WAY WAY WAY more than swords. so this was a rather difficult decision for me, and im still not 100% sure that choosing sword was the best way to go. but, i have decided on sword, and i shall stick to it. hoohaa!

Edgar always seemed like he look more "Royally" fit to work with a Spear .. And after all, I'm sure smooth ole' Eddie calls it a Lance ..

I think he fits using both. Kings should be able to use swords in battle, but Edgar also has the specialty of knowing how to use spears, making him even tougher.

I always kept Edgar with a spear throughout the WoB ... after that i always had some sword equipped on him. I think his character looks a lot better with a spear equipped IMO.

i think swords better suit him. he's a king, and kings always have their sword. (excalibur?) anway... but i try to keep the aura lance on him, and give the swords to someone else, because more people can use swords and it spreads the power out a little bit.

I wanted to vote "Neither" because Edgar is an Engineer, and because of Cid, I find that engineers best fit Mallets.

So I went with "Sword" because swords seem to fit Warrior-Royalty better.

I hate when Edgar uses a spear! It doesn't suit him at all (in my opinion). The one and only with the spear is: MOG!

i say sword because i seem to do more damage with the enhancer than the aura lance, not saying thats a weapon i use but...

and besides, the atma weapon is a sword....most of the time

I can't resist making this side comment about Edgar--notice how the previous post, made by EdgarFigaro (himself!), uses the pronoun "I" while referring to Edgar. Might that actually be Edgar?

Spears, and I'm not even sure why. I guess it's because he fits into the Dragoon slot so well, and I missed having an actual Dragoon job after having played III, IV, and V. Dragoons are fun.

His tools are so good, it doesn't matter what weapon he's equiped with. Oh well, I picked Sword. He originally came with a sword, and his buddies Locke and Terra use swords. Plus Locke's friend Celes uses a sword. So... there. They're just one big happy family.

definately a spear, tho I usually give Edgar the Atma weapon at the end of the game.

during the opening of the game I always take Mog's mithril pike and give it to edgar when he shows up-that pike along with a gauntlet does wicked damage in the early-mid parts of WoB

Both would suit him.. but if he were sitting in his throne room.. the Sword seathed on his belt would look royal, and maybe have the Spear slightly hidden behind his throne so i he can look like he is stretching, whilst he is actually grabbing the Spear.

That's an interesting thought. Is it possible to equip Edgar with both a spear and a sword if he has the Genji Glove?

Id ahve to say sword. After all, Her Maj Queen EiLizabeth knights people with a sword... and nearly cuts their ears off.

Mallets have to do with Engineers because while they're working with whatever machinery they are, a mallet would be more useful than whatever a Lance could do.
Spears and Lances seemed more exclusive to Dragon Knights to me, because it has always typically been a lance that is the weapon capable of taking out dragons

i chose spear. since i never attack with edgar and i always used his "tool" ability i just figured someone has to use a spear also he looks cool with one.

I usually give Edgar whatever good spear Mog isn't using and a Sword myself. (I was one of those guys who got as many good things as he could. I.E. I recall having 17 merit awards once.) Since I had a Genji Glove for EVERYONE bwahahaha. Anywho, Mog may be the master of Spears... but you all know who the true master is?

A spear suits Edgar better because he is royalty, and in most RPGs i know royalty uses spears.

i voted spear for the same reason sonicdeathmnkey did. Less people can use spears then swords so it makes more sense for edgar to have one. As far as royalty having sowrds, i dunno about that. Spears (when used correctly) are a very elegant weapon, and a king would be more elegant then a warrior. So royalty should use spears, not swords.

Well, elegance is entirely subjective when it comes to weapons (even moreso than "cool"), and depends on the type of lance or sword.
A footsoldier's Lance is going to be more elegant than a mounted soldier's Lance or a spear, where a hand-and-a-half sword or a katana is going to be more elegant than a Falchion or a Bastard sword.
Plus another factor in "elegance" would be the user's skill in the use of a particular weapon.

Anyway, I like the spears because they're fairly uncommon, but I have to admit that I think a sword suits Edgar a little better. Spears are usually associated with hunting, anyway.

I like Edgar with a spear, because Spears are usually my favorite weapons in video games, and hardly anyone can equip spears without the Merit Award in FF6.
