I always use gg/offering relic on locke because:

A) sabin and edgar don't need it:
Possible spoilers: highlight to view
Sabins bumrush makes him strong enough, and edgar's tools are too good to waste with normal attacks

cool.gif as Glenn M H said with "treasurehunter glove" cool.gif he can attempt to steal 8 time.
C) with atma and excalibur + espers' stats up make him ripp enemies a new one hahaha

By the way, eqiup the Offering and ThiefGlove--wait, *scratches out ThiefGlove and writes* "TreasureHunterGlove"--on Locke to make him attempt stealing 8 times in a row.

On a single enemy, that's nice. Against multiple, it's crappy since you can only actually receive one item per turn, but you can steal from multiple enemies in a single turn. That means any subsequent items you steal after the first theft are lost forever. Add onto that the occasional text glitches and until you check your item list you may not even know what it was you actually stole.

actually, the only reason ive been using offering recently, is to hit the Catuars... Atma Weapon will hit them always I think, but I normally don't use Atma, no idea why. Offering always makes the attack hit.

Same thing as, but slightly less damage than, when you use someone with a higher strength stat to do that.

that's what i was talking about, (if i don't need to steal), but you can add bismark esper or raiden to increase locke's attack.

I will be there...

I love the Genji gloves because if you but them and the Blackbelt in a char then equipt them with one regular wepon then the Drainer they are MUCH harder to kill.

The Genji Glove is easily one of my favorite relics, and always has been. It stands to reason that if one attack is good, two is even better. When you start getting powerful weapons later in the game, you can cut the length of some of the more difficult battles nearly in half. Having several decent characters with Genji Gloves is one of the best ways I know to battle the dinosaurs in the woods north of the Veldt in the WoR and beat them before they cast Meteor on you (besides resorting to Vanish/Doom thumbdown.gif ) Here are a couple of the uses I have for them, similar to what some other people have mentioned:

user posted image Cyan - (any two powerful swords) Cyan is stuck using Sword Techniques for the most part, and let's face it...you don't always feel like charging up or sitting through the sword technique sequence when it's been executed. A Genji Glove + a couple of decent swords will make him a useful fighter without having to resort to lengthy sword technique charging.

user posted image Shadow - (Striker/Stunner) First of all, since most of the ninjas in other FF games got to wield two swords, it just feels natural to give Shadow a chance to do the same. These swords in particular randomly stop/kill enemies, so there's a good chance when you use both at once that one or the other is going to effect them. If not, well, you've done double the damage. Sometimes I also equip Shadow with the Offering, and let him go nuts. (I've seen it said that status effect weapons don't work when you use the Offering, but I've frequently seen the Striker and the Scimitar with other characters do what they were designed to do in the middle of multiple attacks triggered by the Offering.)

user posted image user posted image Celes/Terra - (Soul Sabre/Illumina) I admit some prejudice in the past toward these two female characters, because I judge character value based on how tough their physical attack is. Well, with their standard swords and clubs, they are pretty lame, but if you give them the Atma Weapon, Gradeus, Scimitar, or Illumina, they can kick some serious butt. In this case, I like to give them the Illumina, because you can get it early on in the WoR (I just use whatever the most powerful swords prior to that are paired for them). The purpose of the Soul Sabre, in case you didn't guess, is to restore the MP that the Illumina depletes from the character prior to attacking the enemy. It's a great combo, especially with a Black Belt.

user posted image user posted image Edgar/Locke - (Atma Weapon/Graedus) The Graedus doesn't appear until later in the game, but the Atma Weapon you can get fairly early on, and it's tough enough by itself. When you pair it with another sword at high levels, that's just brutal! I've always thought Locke's attacks were kind of weak normally, which is why I favor him for this combo, and the damage done with a powerful Atma Weapon + another sword can greatly exceed the damage done by Edgar's tools later in the game.

user posted image Sabin - (best available claws x 2) Sabin does serious damage with one claw. Give him two, and that's twice as serious. 'Nuff said!

Those are my preferences! Hope that gives you some added insight to the value of the Genji Glove...it rules! thumbup.gif

When I first got the genji glove. Edgar used it becasue of the Mythril Pike. Now I have 2 genji gloves and Terra and Mog uses them. I thought fo a good weapon combo Atma Weapon and Illumina.

I use Celes+ Genji Glove+Offering Equipped with an atma weapon(9999) And Ilumina(5000) The numbers are damge done per hit. I acyually have beaten kefka in three turns using that Combination. It seems like my characters are strong enough that they dont ned a shield.

The Genji Gloves are horribly overrated... it's only useful on one or two characters.

Obviously, one goes with the Offering for 8x attack.
The other one would go to weapons with miscellaneous effects, such as Wing Edge, for instant kill, Setzer's Trump/Fixed Dice, etc.

Otherwise, equip a shield. Huge defense and elemental immunities are way more useful. I mean, if you look at the weapons, what's really spectacular? Sabin's Tiger Fangs kinda suck, as well as Cyan's katanas. Shadow's knives are nothing to brag about in terms of damage dealing. Really, the only power weapons in the game are the Atma Weapon, Ragnarok/Illumina, and maybe Locke's dagger that acts as the reverse of the Atma Weapon (I forget what it's called.)

Use a shield and stay alive!

Note: Many of you say equipping Genji Gloves on a buncha characters makes you do super powerful attacks. Well, this is assuming that you're at a high enough level. Usually, I find that I complete the game by levels 35-40, lower for most characters. In this case, I find that the extra 1000-2000 damage I do doesn't compare with absorbing huge boss elemental attacks. If you're high enough level to do uber damage with Genji Gloves, then you really don't need it at all! If you're that high of a level, you'll do tons of damage with or without the glove!

Can't Genji Gloves be bet at the coliseum for Thunder Shields? That's why I like em. biggrin.gif

Hmmm...my Atma Weapon never does 9999, 'cause I don't level up my characters that high, and whoever gets the Atma doesn't get the Illumina...the two are too powerful for just one person to hog both of them...

I'm not saying Genji Gloves are the end-all-be-all of the FF6 relics. I think Gem Box + Economizer with Ultima learned is a much more useful combo than Genji Glove + Offering, but the gloves definitely serve some useful purposes. I noticed that the Illumina seems to drain your MP when you use it, but when I pair it with the Soul Sabre first, it seems to prevent magic from draining too quickly. I'll take the Paladin Shield any day over a second sword on my character, though... cool.gif
