The moderator/owner has allowed me to re-establish the FF6 trivia thread.
Here are the rules by which we must abide: Quote Trivia rules: 1) One question on the board at a time please. 2) You may post a new question ONLY if you get the previous question correct. 3) Only post a new question after the question poser has confirmed an answer is correct or is satisfied the answer is sufficient. 4) Follow the normal board rules for off-topic posts. Questions about the current question or answer are still welcome. 5) Do not start a chain of answers (i.e. If Terra asks question one, and Celes answers, Terra can not answer the following question, whether it be asked by Celes or anyone who Celes passes the question to). 6) Have fun. Which monster or boss has an attack called 'Terra'? Detah, Ruler of 2D This post has been edited by Neal on 27th February 2005 17:36 |

I don't think so; I checked the CoN FFVI pages and it says Terrato does "Earth Aura". By the way, he wrote "monster or boss", so...
May I guess Phunbaba? Edit: I have the feeling it's either Phunbaba or that "red esper" that is sometimes counted as an enemy (it's at the top of the list in the enemies section of the FFVI shrine at rpgclassics.com). Here's my revised guess: is it Phunbaba, the "red esper", Shiva, Ifrit, or Kefka (at Narshe)? I checked all monster attacks in both FF3us v1.0 and FF3us v1.1, and I didn't see any attack named "Terra". Are you sure it's not an FF6j attack that was translated differently in the US version?
Edit I also scanned ten FF3us documents, and found no attack named Terra. Only the character Terra shows up in the document searches. Hmmm, I'm puzzled. I don't isn't it NOT fair to have someone answering question who can look through everything in ff3 by hacking (no offense...)
Is it in the Final Fantasy Anthology only? I don't remember that attack either. -------------------- I will be there... |

Or maybe the answer is nothing has such an attack.

Yeah, it's kind of *impossible* to ban using outside sources because unless the person says something, it would be extremely difficult to prove either way unless you deliberately set someone up for it.

* It is not Terrato (who you don't ever fight), Terrato's Earth Aura, Phunbaba, the Ifrit duplicate that Kefka fights at Thamasa, Shiva, Ifrit (MagResFac), nor Kefka (Narshe).
* This monster/boss does exist and does have the attack "TERRA". * I just got it 3 nights ago in my US Playstation 1 FF Anthologies version of FF6. I don't own any hacking devices or game genies or anything like that. Hint: to see this attack occur, you must do nothing in combat and let the monster/boss use multiple attacks on you without counterattacking. For me, after 6 attacks, he/she/it used "TERRA". The attack will miss and has practically no animation effects. This post has been edited by Detah on 20th November 2003 14:05 |

Since the attack itself sounds like it should be dummied out, I'm going to venture a guess and say it's the Guardian? After all, the Guardian copies other monster attack patterns, and logically thinking, I'd assume he used one that contained a glitched out attack such as that. You said it takes six rounds. Well, Guardian does change his pattern every other round or so.
Either way, my guess is a good one (right or wrong). I win. This post has been edited by Rangers51 on 20th November 2003 18:06 |

Hint #2 This can only occur in the WOB. That is a huge hint. Narrows it down considerably.
It is not Guardian. But it is a great guess. It has strange attack routines. |

well...i certainly played the fool in this game, didnt i? i dont really recall anyone doing an attack named "terra". if there are certain requirements for it to cast this attack then that would explain it. i kill things quickly and get the job done before i get annihilated(wait a sec--ahahahahaha!) so i wouldnt know. crap, looks like im out on this question.
(i refuse to look up any questions, and will only go from memory. im not saying its cheating, and it isnt, but i do think it defeats the point of the game). -------------------- once you can accept yourself, you will never be alone |

The hint of "has to attack you constantly without being countered" makes me think of Siegfried on the Phantom Train, because I usually had the Black Belt equipped that you won from the Commander at Doma. When I was younger, I would always get upset there because it was a great chance to listen to the boss music that I loved so much, but I always forgot to take off the black belt, and one counter would kill him. So...I'll guess Siegfried.

Make as many guesses as you like. You can make more than 1 guess per post. And you can use as many posts as you like to guess; as long as you abide by the board rules for spamming and off-topic stuff, of course.
No, it is not Siegfried nor Ziegfried. Good guess tho. |

I propose that there be a two-day limit on each question and/or a limit of two posts per person per question. I don't think this needs to have pages upon pages of posts for each question.

I can see a great deal of thought was put into this post, simply naming every key enemy and boss in WOB. Since people are abusing the unlimited guessing allowance; I think we need to impose a 2 guess limit from now on.
Anyway, Kefka (Cave of the Sealed Gate) is the correct answer. GMH is first to name the correct Kefka, so its his turn. This post has been edited by Detah on 21st November 2003 14:41 |

Detah--I really did put a great deal of thought into this post. I figured that this wouldn't be a typical enemy that appears in random battles (or at least it appeared very seldom), and I realized that I had probably not waited long enough to see it happen. I also considered the possibility that "Terra" was actually supposed to be a spoken line, not the name of an attack, since I remembered no attack called Terra, but of course knew it was the first protagonist's name. It was from the second line of reasoning that I first thought of Shiva and Ifrit. (Note: I have never encountered Flan or Grenade before.)
Possible spoilers: highlight to view On the subject of it being a spoken line, as I recall, the three characters forming the rest of your team (that now excludes Terra) are "keeping Kefka busy" and suddenly somethings happens and someone yells "Terra" or something like that. And I refuse to make my questions as incredibly obscure as Detah has done. New question: In which two Dancing Mad tracks (there are four of them, one for each tier and one for the final Kefka) are there parts of Kefka's theme, and in what part of the texture (e.g. melody, accompaniment, bass line, harmonies, etc.) are these heard? -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. Trivia Question: Name 4 monsters or bosses that are mostly purple.
In general, I think we should try to answer questions with our own knowledge of the game, but if the question is too hard we can look it up. Does that sound good?
