Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN?

...oh wow, my ESPN account from forever ago actually still works as a MyDisney account.

Also lol ESPN is owned by Disney nowadays. The mental image doesn't fit stereotypes, but big business gonna big business.

Edit: I made my account back when it was on espn.go.com, but it turns out Go.com was always a Disney thing. TIL

Anyway, I'm in. And it turns out I can't even access the bracket yet. I guess I'll do the filling later.

Yeah, the brackets aren't open until this coming Sunday evening - they won't know what teams are automatically in, and therefore which spaces have to be filled by picking teams, until all of the precursor tournaments finish.

And yeah, ESPN had a long and winding road to Disney over the last 20 years, lol. This is why I have like four accounts that work on ESPN now.

Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN?

Well, I made a bracket.

And my calculator has a bunch of "rand(X)" in its entry history, where X is a whole number ranging from 2 to...25 lol. Yeah at least one of my second rounds is funny because at least one of my first rounds is funny.

If I were younger I would have been ashamed of my ignorance. But now I must simply laugh.

If I feel like it I might redo the whole thing using something other than a linear probability distribution. 16 seeds don't have a 1 in 17 record of winning their first round, after all. Quadratic feels like it might be more accurate (than what I have, at least). But that requires me to be unlazy when I've been way too busy in the past couple weeks and don't foresee this pattern letting up.

Because of a hangup on ESPN, I think caused by the fact that I had two accounts that I think got merged but didn't get the same history of CoNCAA between them, we somehow ended up with TWO groups this year and I didn't find out until after the games had started. Hilariously, our winner this year comes from the other group that pretty much nobody saw, but he showed it to me in Discord.

So, a rare back-to-back winner, and ShaneT12 takes the crown again this year!

(Worth noting that everything came down to the last game last night, as 1 and 3 had Florida and 2 had Houston. Shane ended up with a 99.7 percentile score, and SM would have been right there if the game last night had gone the other way, I think. Crazy good performance from both of them - I only sneaked onto the podium by having the right champion, as my earlier rounds were mediocre for the most part.)
