Fangamer sells merchandising and physical copies of games, and they are having their annual black friday sale. The way it works this year is that they tally all orders from the same email address from now until November 30th, and send you a gift code based upon how much you purchased. It ranges from $5 for spending $50+ to $50 for spending $200. I think the code might expire eventually so I am not sure. They also have some concurrent sales like the gimme five sale which reduces the price of various items to $5 and the last chance sale for items that will not be restocked.

There are some caveats to shopping with them though. I don't think they offer free shipping, so not only will you have to place the gift code order separately but they restrict certain items in certain collections of things from shipping together with a general order for some reason. The Stardew Valley Game+Guidebookcollection requires that you only have copies of the game or the guidebook in your cart, and nothing else. On the flip side, selecting menu options to bundle stuff in the same collection together can earn you a decent discount. You get $4 of if you get both the guidebook and Stardew Valley Collector's Edition together. They also seem to have a schedule planned on their front game to add and discount stuff in the various collections. This collector's edition for the P.C. and Nintendo Switch looks like a much nicer product than the one that was sold

Shopping with Fangamer can be somewhat of a hassle since you have to plan your shopping with considerations such as those, but the items they offer are mostly unique. One example of special interest to us is the Blackjack Casino Bicycle Cards which are Final Fantasy VI themed and presently 66% off as part of the Last Chance sale, meaning they only cost $5 per deck instead of the usual $15. Yeah, custom Bicycle decks can be surprisingly expensive as anybody browsing for them at Kickstarter might realize, but $5 is an acceptable price for a good deck of cards, they do look quite nice and it is pretty much the perfect item to serve as a gambler weapon to use for defending yourself from mad clowns or serving as a Setzer cosplay accessory. There is also this poster of The Returners on the Blackjack.

Edit
I forgot about a couple of other Final Fantasy posters for a moment there: This parody of Detective Comics No. 1 with Sabin throwing the Phantom Train is awesome and this poster of a female white mage is quite lovely.

They have plushies, soundtracks (including some vinyl records with great cover art), clothing, accesories, artbooks and various other things. You might just be surprised at what you might find for your favorite games. They even have some piano sheet music for some games.

Granted, the things that interest me most are the physical copies of the games. Physical copies of games interest me for preservatory purposes I think I have explained in the past, and something especially interesting is that they offer physical P.C. versions of some games which would usually only be available through download, which is something of a rarity in the current day and age. The P.C. versions also tend to stay in stock longer, suggesting that console versions might be sold in more limited quantities.

If you look around it is very likely that you will find a few things that you are interested in buying, but there is really too much to choose from much less detail in full, so I think I shall leave it at that. If nothing else it is an interesting website to peruse, so happy browsing!

Edit
This post created a new page so I thought I'd mention that Glenn Magus Harvey mentioned a free giveaway for Teleglitch Die More Edition at G.O.G. in the last post, so nobody who wants to take advantage of the deal misses it just because they neglected to check the prior page when entering the topic.

Don't worry too much, but thanks for reposting it.

That deal has since ended, but there's now a different free-to-claim game on GOG: https://www.gog.com/game/butcher

So let's think about Amazon for a bit, so we can get the most bang for our buck when buying things from Amazon. Naturally the first thing is first: When shopping from Amazon, do not forget to make use of the affiliation tool for the website to get a kickback. It costs nothing to you, but helps to pay the bills for the website so our publications can remain published. It is like donating money to the website, except Amazon foots the bill. flag-olly.gif

Next I would like to say is that while normally we talk about relative value in terms of M.S.R.P., the truth of the matter is that it is rarely good to actually a good deal to buy a product at M.S.R.P. Normally if a product is adequately stocked, a store will eventually offer discounts to clear out excess inventory, and if a product has insufficient stocks then you probably will not get the opportunity to buy it at M.S.R.P., if at all (glares at Nintendo). Camelcamelcamel actually keeps tabs on the prices Amazon and its marketplace sellers have charged over the years. This is not only lets you know what the lowest price for a product was, but also allows you to know if a price-drop is likely, and how much you can stand to save by waiting.

Take a look at the price for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for example: The M.S.R.P. for The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild is $60, but its overall average value is $48, the lowest price was $30. The $30 price point is an extreme value that was only available for a short amount of time, during what seems to be november of 2019, so we might expect to see that price again during Black Friday, although that is perhaps somewhat unlikely, since we only saw that price available once for the history of the game's existance. I'd probably be looking to see if the price drops below $40.

This data is not only useful for determining what a good value for the exact product is though, but also what a good value for a comparable product might be. As of right now for example we do not have Amazon price data on the Link's Awakening remake for the Nintendo Switch and strangely Amazon themselves do not seem to have it in stock. What we can see however is that third party sellers have never sold the game for less than $40 on Amazon, and we might assume that the cheapest we might ever see Link's Awakening on Amazon is $30 based on the available Breath of the Wild information.

That probably means that if you want to buy the Link's Awakening remake, the $30 Walmart deal coming on November 25th is probably as good as the price is ever going to get, although $40 at Best Buy or Gamestop probably would not be such a terrible price to pay either if you miss out on that. Yes, I know, I just spoke of how buying from Amazon can support the website, but it's something to do when all other factors are equal, and the fact that the Amazon corporation does not even seem to offer Link's Awakening and the likely fact that the price would not be as good even if they did are two major points against shopping with Amazon in this case. I can only shill out for the website so much y'know (if you can even call it that when I have no pecuniary interest in doing it), and a $10 price difference actual availability from a reputable seller is perhaps too much to ignore.

So for the longest time I have been waiting for a price drop on the Turbografx-16 mini, because, like most of you I actually like 16 bit games and everything on the Turbografx would be new to me because I never had one. Seems like an excellent alternative to having to buy the original system and the games, and the time has finally come to actually buy it. Amazon never did charge less than M.S.R.P. for the device, but just recently third party sellers have started selling it and their prices have been driven down to as low as $68 recently. Some of those are Amazon warehouse prices. I decided to go ahead and buy it as such, although I think I actually spent closer to $73 just to make sure everything was in good working order. A $27 discount isn't too shabby at this point though.

I have always heard that the Neutopia games were good Zelda clones, and that Bonk games are good mascot platformers. It will be good to see the beginnings of the of Ys series, even if those games have aged poorly, Castlevania: Rondo of Blood might be an interesting game to play even if it's in Japanese and Bomberman games are always good, and it looks like the system has a decent selection of shoot 'em ups too. You can see the product page here.

The last thing I would like to mention about Amazon is that it is easy to forget just how many perks come from Prime membership. It is not all about shipping, or even streaming television and movie shows. Amazon offers discounts on groceries at whole foods which can pay for the Prime Membership itself if you would be buying there anyway (although Wholefoods' selection of groceries is usually pricier than what can be found at other grocery stores) and more relevantly you can also take advantage of Prime Gaming to claim up to five free games per month. Right now there are a whole bunch of Neo Geo games on offer.

Speaking of Neo Geo, if you would rather spend your allocations on other games The Neo Geo Mini is only $46, which is about half M.S.R.P. It's not the lowest price ever, the console has its faults, and if given the choice I would rather have one of the Samurai Shodown editions since those have Twinkle Star Sprites. However, $45 isn't a bad price considering how expensive original Neo Geo games are.

Something else to keep in mind is that Amazon Prime benefits can be shared across accounts of people living at the same home address. Up to two adults per household, and three children I think, which is just about enough for the typical nuclear family unit. I am not entirely sure of the details regarding how it works for Prime Gaming in particular (whether each person gets to choose 5 games, or if that allocation is shared for the entire household), but if you have a roommate who pays for it anyway you might want to try mooching off some membership benefits for free.

That is all I have to say about Amazon for now. You might also want to check out the Best Buy, Walmart and Gamestop black friday deals since they are supposed to generally represent the largest discounts of the year. I'll leave it up to you folk to decide which games or other things you might want to buy from there though. Yeah, I know, trying to beat the crowds is a pain in the neck, but sometimes you can take advantage of these deals online if you are quick enough.

Oh, but whatever you do, do not buy a new Audio Visual receiver this year. It might be tempting with all of the interesting home theater related stuff happening this year, but the current batch all make use of a bugged chip from Panasonic. It might not be until 2022 until that's fixed. It might be okay if you only plan to use it for Blu-rays and Playstation 5, but the new Xbox Series consoles and the Nvidia graphics cards are definitely affected. Given that 120hz and Variable Refresh Rate were the major selling points on the specification upgrade, that defeats the point of upgrading for the most-part.

Merry Commercialismas and don't forget to buy presents unless you want to be considered the social pariah amongst your group of friends and family, because let's face it, this holidays stopped being about celebrating the birth of Christ and started being about presents many moons ago. That is quite a saddening thought come to think of it. cry.gif

Speaking of which, I just saw that an 8Bitdo controller is on Black Friday Week at Amazon - not a huge discount, but I don't think I ever see those guys discounted at all normally. https://amzn.to/3fju2eq

Question re 8Bitdo:

Some months ago, I finally acquired a gamepad for PC, specifically a couple XBox360 gamepads (one first-party, one third-party), and I found that the the d-pad on both seems to be way too "smooth", often mistaking Down for Down/Right or Down/Left if I hold Down just a little too far to either side, like barely shifting my finger.

Does the 8Bitdo have this problem? Or is its d-pad better designed?

It's pretty late in the day already so I don't know if anyone will see this in time, but GameStop has Final Fantasy VII Remake on sale half price today. I couldn't pass it up at that price so I snapped up a copy, picking it up tomorrow. December will be really busy, but I'm still hoping I'll find time to finish the game soon (I got up to chapter four with the library's copy).

I don't think this warrants a thread of its own, so I am posting it here.

FFXIV is doing a cross-promotion with Butterfinger candies. If you buy at least $5 worth of Butterfinger products and submit a picture of your receipt, you can get an exclusive mount in game.

Website: https://gamewithbutterfinger.com

Offer is open to US only, alas, so sorry Canadians. Butterfinger did say in a tweet that the codes are region-free so if you know someone with a US postal address, perhaps they can get the code for you.

I submitted my receipt yesterday and am impatiently waiting for my code. I hope it's account-wide! If not, I guess I will use it on my main character...

If you bought the giant bundle last year, this one works similarly (i.e. direct downloads only, no Steam keys).

Various games in the Dragon Quest series are on sale at a variety of digital platforms,for up to 60%. Through June 9th, IIRC. Retailers include:

* PlayStation store
* Xbox store
* Nintendo eShop
* Square Enix store
* Steam
* Stadia (I'm including this one for the lolz)

And others. I'll probably get the Switch version of DQXI if it's included in the sale.

Also until June 9th: Final Fantasy XIV is 60% off.

This is kind of a weird one, but if you like Gatcha Games or Disgaea, now is a good time to try out Disgaea R.P.G. Granted, the best time to join would have been when it launched, but ignoring the missed opportunities, there are quite a few freebies being offered right now.

It's basically the opposite of what F.F.T. did for Final fantasy. It takes the characters from a tactical R.P.G., and puts them into a more traditional command input only R.P.G. It uses a free to play, pay to win gatcha summoning type business model, which can be annoying in a variety of ways, but what is happening right now takes some of sting out of it for freeloaders like myself.

The Reflection event offers a special summoning banner to summon 10 free characters on each day until the 29th, which is in addition to the one free daily unit you normally get on the standard banner (the free summon is marked as 0 on the standard banner, with a quartz icon next to it), a battle where you can get free goodies that help advance game progression too.

The Reflection Platinum Banner seems to be one of the better summoning banners on which you could spend the quartz you earn in game, since it offers many special characters from prior platinum banners at higher rates that are not normally available from the standard summoning banner, and a couple of new characters as well. There are other banners you may want to save some quartz for, but 5 x10 summons would not be a bad way to spend the first 7,500 quartz you earn, if you can manage scrounge up that much before the 21st. Serial codes you can redeem in Menu > Other > Serial Code can greatly help with that.

The code ju56hVDwHz from Youtuber Hayznik, which provides 3000 nether quartz in particular is probably going to be the most significant one, and the most time sensitive. Others can be found on a sticked thread in the Game's Reddit.

What is considered a day is based on the U.T.C. -4 time zone, so you might not see this until the second day of the Reflections event has passed, since I didn't post on the first, and there are only a few hours left in the second.

I might make a separate topic for the game later, since I have been playing it for nearly two months now, but I figured I'd post here first since taking advantage of these offers is somewhat time sensitive.

There is a bit of necessary advice before I bid adieu though. If it's your first time playing, you need to go through character selection before anything else. My advice is to try to reroll for Desco, Valvatorez or Laharl and pick all thieves as your support units, to help with drop rates. *Do not* Nether Enhance using any of your first five thieves: The effect of their main evilly stacks, so you get extra drop chance for each separate thief you have in the party, which is useful for farming reincarnation gems and Prism rangers. Aside from being high tier units, Desco is providing bonus points for the current Ms. Raspberyl event, but that is already halfway over, and Laharl and Valvatorez are providing bonus points for the next. You might want to pick up at least one copy Asuka Cranekick from the current event though, since generally speaking, the event provided unit from the last event also provides provides bonus points to the next event, and those bonus points can redeemed for various things, most notably including characters and Prism Hides used in Nether Enhancement.

To help inform your choice of starter Desco has high att., def. and offers a cheap board wipe. Laharl buffs everybody in the party and eventually gets bonus damage to his skills with enough Nether Enhancement, and with enough Nether Enhancement, Valvatorez heals himself quite a bit. If I recall correctly, you get Flonne to act as an initial healer from the beginning, and you can farm Prinnies and Power Ranger parodies called Prism Rangers from stages in the game. Prism blue from the boss of episode 1 is a particularly useful unit.

It is a smartphone game, but if you do not have a phone you can use Bluestacks to emulate an Android environment to download and play it (as well as other smartphone games I presume) for free from the Google Play Store.

Another freebie on GOG.

https://www.gog.com/game/absolute_drift

The Summer Sale is also having a rotating crop of super-discounted "flash deals" (which actually last like two or three days I think). Right now there's Banner Saga 3, a couple X games, a couple AI War games, and some others.

But the sale itself lasts for another week and change, I think.

I think this is to celebrate the games coming back to the GOG store. (My guess is there was some publisher snafu earlier.) More details here: https://www.gog.com/news/bgrab_your_copies_...nderworld_i_iib

I noticed that FFXIII is on sale on the Humble Store, and it turns out they're having a Square-Enix publisher sale.

https://www.humblebundle.com/store/promo/sq...nix-japan-sale/

I'm pretty all these just give you Steam keys, for what it's worth.

Also, does anyone know if this weird formatting is a NieR Automata in-joke?

If you look around the forums, I'm sure you'd find some posts talking about how much I liked the Tomb Raider reboot despite never being interested in the original series. For the series' 25th anniversary, Steam has the PC versions of the new trilogy on insane discounts: https://store.steampowered.com/sale/TombRaider25

another free game https://www.gog.com/game/outcast

Also there's currently a sale on Idea Factory games. Apparently there's now a Date a Live game on there, in addition to new Neptunia games and also Dragon Star Varnir and Death End Re;Quest. In case you're not familiar with them, far as I know they're very anime-tropey sorts of games.

Final Fantasy XIV is on sale 60% off on both the Square Enix site and PlayStation stores.

Additionally, there are in-game items on sale on the online store, including story skips and job boosts.

I think everyone who cares to try the game around these parts is already playing it, but figured I'd post anyway in case there's lurkers who may be interested. smile.gif
