So I recently got an iphone 5(shush it was free) and I really like the gui and camera and hard drive space. One thing though that l absolutely despise is iTunes. It's a fine program for listening to podcasts, but like... WHY. I've always been an android guy, so l'm used to things being simple. Like plugging in a jump drive.

Are there any alternatives? Can I somehow trick the software and make it more like an android? Being a washington kid, l have modded several devices before, but I have zero experience with apple products. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I don't really use my iPod very often any more, as I am not usually in a place where I want access to my music but don't have a computer nearby. When I was using it more often, I used Songbird some in place of iTunes - I seem to recall that it might have started becoming less useful, though, so that might not still be an option.

I will agree that iTunes is garbage software and has only gotten worse over time, especially on Windows.

Edit
ETA that nowadays when I do need to interact with an iPod I just grit my teeth and use iTunes, which is why my knowledge isn't current.
