I played the BEJEEZUS out of Blue and Gold back in the day, then took a Pokemon break for about 7 or 8 years, then tried out Leaf Green, Emerald, Diamond, and Heart Gold in that order. I received Pokemon White 2 as a gift about a year ago, and played that some. The one with my largest hour-count, perhaps surprisingly, is Leaf Green. I got something like 320 Pokemon out of that one, then imported most of those to Diamond. That happened when I worked as a night watchman for a year. Not a coincidence.
I mean, Pokemon games are all at least pretty good, and I'm a little bewildered at the depth that modern Pokemon breeding, leveling, and combat has. It's exactly as complex as you want it to be, in a weird way. I'm usually content to beat the game, raise one or two Dragon-types to level 60, and then call it a day, but if you want to get into netbattling and EV/IV training then you can drag that out for dozens of additional hours. So yeah, I think Pokemon's just fine, but I *really* don't need any more right now. Plenty of other elaborate turn-based RPG experiences out there for me. -------------------- |

Played Pokémon Blue, which I beat (then duly messed up my Hall of Fame file by using the Cinnibar Island item duplication glitch. Had some great times there. I barely beat Sabrina, down to one underleveled pikachu that had Flash and somehow kept Alakazam at bay long enough to beat it. And I even beat the E4 and
Man, I thought those accomplishments were so incredibly epic at the time. Even though I know now that it's basically getting lucky with the RNG... I did a couple notable nods to the show -- I kept an unevolved pikachu on my team the whole way through, and I named my character Ash (despite being on Blue -- and being a little confused why "Gary" was a default name for my character while "Ash" was a default name for the rival...but then I chalked that up to games of that era being a little weird/buggy sometimes). Also had the rule that the highest-leveled mon in my entire library had to be my starter, and my starter had to be part of my team the entire way through. I later played Gold some, but didn't get very far -- maybe three or four badges, or so. While I had Crystal on cartridge, I didn't bring it to university and ended up emulating that for a bit -- until my silly savestate-loading habits got me to mess up the clock, at which point I just kinda ragequit. Also, after discovering the "Mew Glitch", I started a file on Red trying to do a full 151 pokédex on it. Got bored though and didn't get very far though, because I soon realized that it would basically involve me trying (or looking up) the mew glitch result on every single trainer on whom the glitch would work, and thus basically just a large amount of strategic planning. Also played some Pokémon TCG. I have over 200 of the cards, from the first generation cards back when Wizards made them. Though I've never played an actual meatspace match with them. Did actually learn the rules from the GBC Pokémon TCG videogame. That game has awesomely good music, such as this. Haven't touched Pokémon since then. I've been very temped to get back into the series, but between not having much time (and already having a backlog of games), and not having a GBA or DS or 3DS (and being a bit annoyed at how there's always a legendary that I would have to do an event for, trading aside)...not to mention that I'd have to trade in order to get a complete dex, period, because there's no way to get all the mons on one's own...though that's a bit easier since the recent Nintendo handheld systems have wifi...yeah. Sometimes it makes me feel a bit conflicted. I got REALLY, REALLY into the games and show in the first generation, and basically swore that I'd forever be a fan of the series. I'm still very fond of gen 1 (despite all its flaws), and I've thoroughly read Azure Heights's commentary on the gen 1 battling scene. And I still love the music, from both the games and the show. But then the show started basically showing like fifty million episodes every week (including half a million on saturday mornings), and I stopped having the time... Still, though, the games themselves haven't really done much to offend me (that they hadn't been doing since gen 1 -- i.e. I mean trade-only mons and event mons) -- well, psyduck is still not psychic-type for no apparent reason, but they DID fix a lot of problem, such as ghosts and bugs being useless in gen 1, and they've also introduced various cool new features over the years. And now there are several hundred mons and improved trading capability thanks to wifi... FYI, I've said for years that they should make Pokémon an MMORPG. No not like the silly ones that go up like every other day. But rather, one where you could catch wild mons like you do in the games but you could battle real other people instead of just game trainers. (Of course you'd need like extra provisions, such as a way to prevent players from being bullied by other players with far more powerful mons, etc., but there's ways to do that, such as showing the opponent's level range and implementing a consent-to-battle system.) Final note: the show belongs on UPN. Not WB. Also, it belongs in the 7:30 AM timeslot. So I don't have to wake up at 6:45 AM to catch it at 7:00 AM. I've been waiting for that for a long time. I'm not even sure about the details I'd want in it, but I'd not only want online multiplayer but local multiplayer also. Me an my cousin would still play that all the time. Pokémon's simply a major point in my life. It was there even before video games almost. The memories of standing in line for the movies, trading the cards during classes in 1st-2nd grade. And it being the first game I played and beat myself, trying to figure out how games "worked", has forever endeared the game into my heart. Nowadays part of it is bittersweet, knowing the blatantly cynical portion of it: the clear marketing manipulation to buy the products. First we had to buy the games, watch the shows, buy the cards, get all the toys. It's all a bit evil if you think about it! The thing that made it all okay was the quality of the games. Say what you will about consumerism etc., and I would agree, but the games were extremely good. Gen. I and II are among my all-time favorites still, and they made a massive contribution to what could be called the golden age of JRPGs. I always loved Digimon more as a show, but the show was always funny. Team Rocket really stole the show IMO. -------------------- |

I never really got into the Pokemon Trading cards. I just liked the show and loved the games.
The First Pokemon i played was i think Pearl. I picked Chimchar as my starter (it was close between him and Piplup). I went and beet the game and loved and have played most games since then. Apart from Balck and White 2, which i am getting (Black 2) in the easter holiday. I'll be picking Tepig as my starter, i love Fire types and am a Huge fan of Emboar. -------------------- Excuse me? I used to be really into Pokemon, you could even say obsessed, but the games that came out after the soul silver and heart gold remake made me lose so much interest. Don't get me wrong I've played through Pokemon black and white but i just felt like all the new Pokemon they added were unoriginal and found the story and new villains to be pretty lame. Well i mean all the games are pretty much the same anyways, catch Pokemon, collect badges, etc but i feel like they maybe should have stopped after that. That's just my opinion though, I haven't played the new games yet and not really planning on it anytime soon although I have heard good things about X and Y. If they ever make a remake of Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald though maybe i'll play it again.

And it's why I still consider either gen I or II the best. Honestly, since after gen I I've felt the pokemon were hit and miss. In every generation, there have been some good ones, but most were bland. And I always preferred the original Team Rocket, partially because of Giovanni and partially because the black and white screen made them look more menacing. I'd love to see them change up the formula again (otherwise, let's face it, it's Nerd Madden!). I want what GMH talked about so bad, a pokemon MMORPG, or even just a multiplayer would be awesome, and it would fit the Wii U perfectly. In a strange way, the problem, if there is one, is its success. They hit on a near-perfect formula, and have very little reason to shake it up save for some tweaks here and there. Basically, they're all really good games, so there's no real need to get creative, unfortunately. -------------------- |

I doubt they would make a Pokemon for wii u, it's always been a DS thing and with the poor sales in wii u I really don't think they would.
Team Plasma is my fave, purely because of the EPIC battle theme they had in those games. -------------------- Excuse me? Would you mind not talking while I'm interupting? |

They've made plenty of Pokemon games for consoles..since the N64. Yeah, they most likely won't make a main series game ever since it's always been for handhelds, but i already know for a fact they'll make a spin off game sooner or later like always. -------------------- Too be forgotten is worse than death - Freya Crescent |

I now present to you- the Eeveelution challenge!
In Pokemon B2/W2, in Castelia city, Eevee becomes a catchable pokemon. This challenge isn't difficult, but does verge on the time consuming side. The challenge is to beat the game with either Eevee, or one of its "eeveelutions" such as Espeon, Umbreon, Glaceon, Flareon, Jolteon, and/or Vaporeon as all six of your team members. Again, once all of them are fully evolved and in full swing, this is actually not difficult. Finding, catching, and evolving them is the tough part. Do you have the patience to pull this off? -------------------- "So, are you a fan of the Fett?" "Nah, I'm more of a Star Wars guy." |

I've always been a Pokemon game fan, since Red and Blue. However, I've never owned the proper hardware to ever play them, so beyond Red and Blue, and a bit of Silver since my cousin loaned both the GB and game to me, I didn't get to play much until I bought my 3DS, which came with Pokemon Black. Refreshing change, I must say. Then they announced X/Y, and I knew I wanted to be one of the first to buy and play it currently with millions of others, so I did, and it's been great, and I really, really took my time on it.
On that note, eggs!? Breeding!? Males and females!? What's all this newfangled business!? I'll get it, though, in time haha! I've only just beaten Y about a month ago, and still haven't found where to daycare my little 'mons for breeding and such. In other news, I've also been wanted them to create a solid Pokemon Trainer/Battler MMORPG. I think it'd have legs for sure. But now, with the Wii U, I think the times is perfect for the return of... Pokemon Snap! Heck yes, Pokemon Snap! Do you have any idea how HUGE they could make that game now, with all the different regions we could travel to!? It'd be so awesome! I really, really hope they tackle that idea, but I have a feeling it'll never be, unfortunately. But still, the augmented reality, so to speak, of using the gamepad as the camera!? That'd be SO neat! Anyways, yes. Pokemons. And such. -------------------- Games on the Go Final Fantasy VII Final Fantasy: Four Warriors of Light Baldur's Gate Too much to play, so little time! Greg |

I'm a big time Pokemon fan. I'm currently been playing Omega Ruby! I've been busy breeding some Pokemon and battling in people's secret bases most of the time in this game. I've got almost all the games. my favorite battle strategy is to ether use Skill swap or Role play on Vaporeon inorder to take advantage of it's water absorb ability. and plus to follow that up with Surf to heal my partner and damage the enemies instead. |

Leaf Green was my first, then Fire Red. Moved onto Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire. When the DS came out I got the first Pokemon game on that. Starting to see why I never had a girlfriend at school, I was clearly preoccupied.

Oh boy. I am a huge Pokemon fan and still play the games regularly.
My favorites are still Gold/Silver/Crystal. I think they are the best in the series. I did enjoy Black/White but thought Black 2/White 2 were terrible and I haven't gotten a chance to play the new games. I discovered ROM hacking a while back and have played through several Pokemon ROM hacks. I've even gotten into it a little myself, but my PC is old and I have an old MAC laptop so there are a lot of compatibility issues that have prevented me from doing what I want, such as adding in new Pokemon to old games. My favorite Pokemon are: Dunsparce, Shuckle, Smeargle, Snorunt/Glalie, Larvitar/Pupitar/Tyranitar and Umbreon. I'm a second gen kind of guy. -------------------- |
