Quote (Glenn Magus Harvey @ 8th November 2003 17:08) What is the Alexander esper, anyways? Like we can say Shiva's a woman and Fenrir's a dog and Tritoch's a bird--what's Alexander? I believe Alexander is Alexander the Great. The guy who conquered his whole known world at age 16. Shiva is the Hindu god of destruction, and Fenrir has some other mythological way about him. Bascially everythign in the Final Fantasy games comes from soem kind of mythology. ![]() |

I thought Fenrir was the dog who took unhonorable men's souls to hell.

From his picture he looks like a giant castle. If you played FF9 he was a castle that was summonded by Garnet but thats FF9.

In FF4 Alexander looked like the concept sketches of the Giant of Babil.

Alexander in FF4? Where'd he appear?
I actually heard something about Alexander being somehow based on Czar Alexander (II?) of Russia. He was far more liberal than his time AND he did formulate the "Holy Alliance"--those are the reasons cited. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. I think MorgueN is just comparing it to the Giant of Babil. It doesn't actually appear.

The castle that Alexander is resembles a kremlin, so I'd go with that explanation. -------------------- "I had to write four novels before they let me write comic books." -Brad Meltzer |

It does too. Well spotted DP. We've found a connection. |

I always figured Alexander was a castle that was built to also be a gaurdian-robot using some forgotten ancient technology.... well anyway, he usually ends up being one of the summons that ends up looking not incredibly cool. FF6 was on of his better moments though.

I agree with Ejoty that Alexander is probably a ancient castle with a guardian ability. Since it is a holy element esper always makes me think it has something to do with King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. Either way he does look best in FFVI:
