Hey! So I know I'm not really friends with anyone here but I thought this would be a somewhat safe community to pick up some Animal Crossing friends to trade items, and fruit, and all sorts of goodness with. So, if anyone got the game and is interested in that. Please add your friend code to this thread.

I picked up a 3DS and the game yesterday and am having a blast so far! I'm at work so I don't have internet connectivity, but I'll add you when I get home.

3DS friend codes are all just system-based, right? Not individual games?

I don't have the game, but i'm curious: is the game a sort of "one game for the price of two" deal where there are version-exclusives, or playthrough-exclusives?

Not really so much that, but you basically get a random assortment of items in your shops and fruit growing on trees and the easiest way to get stuff that doesn't show up in your town is to connect with other people playing the game and getting it from their town. For example, my town fruit was cherries, but Neal's was pears I believe. But he wanted cherries because it's fun to collect all the fruit and fruit that isn't native to your town gives you more money when you sell it, so I let him link via internet and run amok in my town and get cherries and look around.

Yeah, I think there are five basic fruit, and everybody gets one to start. I started with pears and Bekah got cherries. I got peaches from my bf, so I'm waiting for those trees to sprout so I can spread more love!

Also looks like I have island access tomorrow, and you can get tropical fruit there, like bananas or coconuts.

You can also get different fruits from the island when that opens up for your game. So far I have gotten Laichees, bananas, and mangos. I believe there are lemons and another prickly fruit.

I have to wait for the bananas and prickly fruit to show up on my island again because I didn't grab them and plant them. I sold them. But the laichees and mangos are planted.

Judging from all the tweets my friends are making on twitter, I'm the only lonely turtle who doesn't have the game

I never played the original Animal Crossing, but is this a good game to invest in?

If you like the idea of picking fruit, catching bugs, catching fish, collecting furniture, clothing, and decorating a house and an odd assortment of townspeople, then I'd say yes.

I'll get the game eventually, but I can't really afford to be playing another time sink right now. I've heard good things, and I want the Majora's Mask badly.

Yeah, the sheer number of people who are talking about this makes me want to get it too, though I already have too many things to both work on and play. It does help that I don't have a 3DS, though, and am still somewhat of a cheapskate when it comes to gaming.

And I just realized that this is Nintendo tapping into the social gamer in all of us and competing (and quite darn well) with the likes of Farmville and such.

I mean to post this a while back but there are special items that come out at Best Buy Nintendo Zone spots and this will go on for about a month. Luckily, you don't have to go to Best Buy to get the item. Which was a god send because the service wasn't working at my Best Buy. All you have to do is rename your router SSID to "Bestbuy" exactly as it is written there in the quotes and it will trick your 3DS into thinking it's in a Nintendo Zone. Quite handy I do have to say.

Oh and Falling Heart and Perigryn I have now added your friend codes. I have all fruits except persimmon which comes later in the game.
