I beat Tales of Vesperia a few weeks ago, and wow it was great. It is clearly created in three "acts" of sorts, each with a different central villain, and ranges from political to environmental to apocalyptic quest themes. The plot's really solid for the first 75% of the game, where it kinda goes crazy and ends very suddenly. The best part, though, is the character interactions - Yuri is by far the best Tales protagonist ever, and the mostly-stereotype cast around him is interesting and appealing in general. Except for Karol. That guy can sit on the bench for the entire playtime.

Next is Guacamelee!, which I beat in about a week. It took me only 5 or 6 hours, and I'm sure someone more skilled and experienced could cut that in half. The whole game is an unapologetic Metroid reference. You earn powers from "Choozo" statues, for chrissakes. The balance of platforming, brawling, and exploration is excellent, but the game feels a little short, at only 3 medium-sized temples, 2 towns, and 4 or 5 connecting areas. The normal ending sucks, but if you find the five hidden orbs and beat the final boss again, you get a better one. I got three of those orbs, but the last two have such tricky platforming required to get them that I bailed. The game goes from Metroid-hard to Super Meat Boy-hard for those last two challenges. I resorted to YouTube for the good ending.

Now I'm playing Skyrim. It was gifted to me on Steam during the winter sale. Lots of meters increasing.

Psychonauts had some really strong points (stage and boss designs, dialog, humor) balanced out by weak points (horrible camera, messy and floaty platforming, occasionally jagged visuals). Psychonauts was pretty good, but I'm also glad I'm done with it. **** THE MEAT CIRCUS.

Just 100%ed this myself. I imagine your hate of the Meat Circus was the very final platforming section? The curvy climbing fence was particularly mean, but everything else wasn't that bad. Three of five games I have to beat to get a 3DS are done... probably will do WA5 next, then finish Torchlight 2.

And then I'll probably go back to BL2 since I just found out that the sixth character comes out in about a week!

Yeah, that and the last part of Little Oly's escort mission. The so-so PS3 emulation was a problem, but ugh, that camera during the cage climb....

I heard there were some fixes put into later version of the game that made Meat Circus a lot more doable. Maybe the PS3 port didn't have those? Either way the cage was so mean. Overall a really, really fun game, though.

I hated Waterloo World a lot more than Meat Circus, it was just wayyyyy too big for someone like me who MUST collect everything.

That's actually the stage that made me give the game another go. Easily took me the longest to play through the first time but Jesus, just the concept of that stage blew my mind. I've never seen anything like it a'fore or since.

Unfortunately I had to uninstall it, cause apparently there's something about my system it just cannot handle. sad.gif

Ys Origins time attack mode.

I haven't bothered starting a new game on higher difficulties, but I have been fighting bosses at higher difficulties.

Pictimos I was recently finally able to defeat at Nightmare difficulty.

Velagunder, however, who seemed so trivially easy at lower difficulties, doesn't hesitate to produce up to six slip-slidey-goo-trail bugs at once...

...and anyone else notice just how many bugs are in this darn tower?

I finally started a game of Final Fantasy V from the PSN store on my PSP. So far I am enjoying it though I haven't gotten yet to a part I haven't played. But it seems like it'll satisfy me for now.

If you ask me, Ys Origin has a more engaging story and FAR more engaging characters than Oath in Felghana. And, thanks to having three playable characters to Oath's one, Origin has more replayability. Yep, awesome game, that it is.

After having played Mass Effect 3 for some time recently, I got all nostalgic over Mass Effect 1, so I ended up reinstalling it and giving it a go on my current computer. Currenting playing with an adept, a class I've never played with before in any ME. While I admit to having gotten spoiled on the smoother controls, newer functions, and better graphics of ME3, you just can't beat the greater freedom of equipment customization that ME1 provides. ME1 also has a character development system quite different from its sequels that's still quite enjoyable (to me, anyway).

I'm actually seriously considering replaying Origin in order to see the other two storylines.

If you know how rarely I replay games (replayability is usually much of a thing for me), this is pretty big.

Also, the bosses are fairer I think.

If you meant Origin, yeah, you'll get more than just different personalities and play styles from the other characters. Given the different encounters and bosses and whatnot experienced by each, it's definitely worth playing all three characters at least once to see the whole big picture. Hell, I played all three in normal and hard mode, and I'm thinking of trying all three again in nightmare mode at some point just to see what it's like.

Yes, I meant Origin for all those comments.

Also, I just defeated Velagunder with Yunica at Nightmare difficulty. I recently defeated Pictimos with Yunica at Nightmare difficulty.

Nightmare difficulty is actually really darn hard.

Also: Yunica Tovah, exterminator

I tried XCOM Enemy Unknown. I love strategy games and I've been waiting to play a sort of FF Tactics style turn-based game like it for ages. Unfortunately the story, enemies and style really let me down. If it was a serious game with serious enemies I'd get into it, or if it was a campy fun game with campy enemies I'd love it. The mechanics of the game are fine and appealing but I just don't enjoy playing it where everything's really serious and the Earth's in danger to basically Tim Burton's aliens from Mars Attacks. It just doesn't work. It's not serious or fun enough. Kind of caught in a place where I'm not very interested in playing further into the story or outfitting the characters. Needs to be full on Gears of War high-stakes war to save humanity or full on Duke Nukem hilarity. So after a couple of days I've given it back.

Good stuff! I spoke to someone i met recently and Red Dead Redemption was her idea of oldschool pinch.gif
I've been meaning to sit and play Ocarina from start to finish, fast as I can without using glitches... needless to say I keep putting it off.

Also Glenn..solitaire? get out. NOW.

As for me? I tried Silent Hill 4: The Room last night. I've had a bit of a gamer swagger going on after getting a few horror titles under my belt, considering myself as some titan of survival horror. Then at 12:30 am this morning I'm relatively early in the game and I found it so unsettling I had to stop playing...

Nope, went back to Torchlight 2 and I think I'm almost done with it. If I get some time in the next couple evenings, I'm guessing I can check that off my list of Games I Need To Finish. What a fun game, though. I might end up starting a new character to see if the other classes are just as fun as the Outlander was. Ranged classes ftw!

I normally favor magic classes that can summon and use area effects, but I gotta say that Torchlight II does a variety of characters RIGHT. The Outlander is about as fun a ranged class as I've ever tried, and somehow the Berserker is more satisfying than any Diablo II melee class. Seriously, a dual-claws 'zerker with a few passives will deal area damage with every attack and gain speed boosts with every kill, and eventually just HURTLES from enemy to enemy. Torchlight II is amazing.

EDIT: oh yeah I guess I'm still playing Skyrim. Although I'm playing it like Magic Purple Arrow Shooting Gallery: 2011 Edition.

In my defence, I also played Fortune Summoners and Ys Origin recently.

And I've been meaning to play Hugo mode in Ys Origin. And I haven't forgotten my meaning to one-loop Recettear. I have a book sale coming up and I need to stock up on books.

I play everything when I'm procrastinating. tongue.gif You should have seen the time I got really good at Minesweeper.

Yeah, I'm playing the Outlander with the very first Glaive throw skill, which is devastating at higher levels, Barf Breath to get a crazy amount of minions whenever I get overrun by a lot of minor enemies, and the giant final minion summon, who is ridiculously awesome. Then a ton of passive pistol and long range skills since pistols are ridiculous. So much fun.

I'm playing Persona 4 Golden, now. I'm very near the end, and can say that it is indeed the definitive version of the game. The new battle content, coupled with the fact that
Possible spoilers: highlight to view

, allowing for more humorous moments within the main cast make the experience far more memorable, and it seems a bit more complete than the PS2 version. I've just got that final dungeon to go, and then it's onto Virtue's Last Reward!

Just mopped up Bioshock Infinite and wow...that is one underwhelming game. It didn't even have the benefit of being as infuriatingly bad as Bioshock, it was just 'meh' all the way through.

Ending was fun in that 'are you freaking kidding me' kinda of way.

Hmm, I was playing some FF7, that's what lured me here. I bought a Wii U after work yesterday though so now its been New Super Mario Bros. U, Nintendo Land, and Kirby Super Star.

Ahhh, I want to get back to FF7 though so the Wii U may start collecting dust really fast lolol. I just got the Highwind so I'm getting to my favorite sidequest of FF7 - chocobos!

New Super Mario Bros. U is really fun but I came to the realization while I was playing it that as much as I like Mario games, they are just way better with a friend. Then you can laugh at each other when you choke on jumps or screw up some other way.

I finished Skyrim a few days ago, so right now I'm weighing my options on what to play next. This weekend I messed around with Metroid Prime, XenoBlade Chronicles, and Final Fantasy VI Advance.

I would love to be playing some Ys Origin or Recettear but I am currently playing Sort Through Lots Of Old And Dusty Stuff In Preparation For My Parents' Moving (with And Pick Out Extra Junk To Haul Back To My Apartment DLC).

Incidentally, I've been playing around with the OST for this game. I found that replacing the OST with this sometimes help keep me going even when tired.

Oooo, the crazy keyboard action toward the end cool.gif . I prefer to rock to Silent Desert, myself, but there's nothing wrong with your choice, either.

Just got done finishing an old file of Final Fantasy IX I left a couple of years ago. I forgot what a great game that is. Also forgot how difficult Trance Kuja and Necron are. In fact, I dare say they kind of cheat!

And now, after learning of all the changes that were made to the game since I last played, I decided to reconnect with Diablo 3, and I figure I'll probably alternate between that and Mass Effect 1.

Penny Arcade's On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 4 is amazing and everyone should play it. RS4 is only $5 on XBLIG or Steam, and the double pack of RS3 and RS4 is only $6 on Steam (on sale until June 14th). If it weren't for my playing Persona 4 in January, this would be my favorite game I've played this year.
