Starting today, the North American PSN store has a series of Final Fantasy games half off. Which games, you might ask? Well, a bucket of them. You can get a version of every numbered Final Fantasy game up through IX (not including III, which never has had a Sony release). Most of the games are the PS One versions, including Origins, Anthology, and the three released originally for the first PlayStation. Final Fantasy IV's PSP version is included, as is Tactics: War of the Lions. Rounding out the set are three games from the Dissidia series.
This sale is 50% off the top and will be running for two weeks. The game selection is a little different than the European-region sale that we, uh, forgot to post about until right now. That sale's over, though. Sorry about that. Source: US PlayStation Blog |

I need to correct your post here. III has a release as a download on PSN for PSP. I know because I bought it and it's on my PSP. It's a release of the version that was on the DS.

Thanks for this, I just bought FF7 for .... I believe the fifth time in my life. Wow, that's kind of upsetting.
1) I bought FF7 from a friend when I was expecting to buy a Playstation. I never did, so I sold it. It was pre-Greatest Hits. 2) I bought FF7 PC (the original Eidos one) and played through it. I lent it to a friend, who graduated high school and I never saw her again. 3) I re-bought FF7 when I actually did buy a Playstation. I know this happened, but I think I'm getting my timelines confused. It was a Greatest Hits version. 4) I bought the FF7 PC version update that came out last year. It was awful and disgusting. 5) Just now, buying it on PSN for $5. I have a problem. -------------------- Hey, put the cellphone down for a while In the night there is something wild Can you hear it breathing? Only two more times before we can make bad puns about it.

I used this opportunity to get FF IV CC half-price. This means I've bought FF IV....
1. SNES version 2. PS1 version (FF Chronicles) 3. GBA version (FF IV Advance) 4. DS version 5. Japanese Super Famicom version 6. PSP version ...six times. Also thinking about picking up FF VII and FF IX on the PS3 so I can replay them with a wireless controller. ...I might have a problem. -------------------- |

You have a Super Famicom?
...and you should go and get the Wonderswan version ASAP, clearly. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. I don't. I bought that S.Famicom cart at MAGFest two years ago for $20 so I could have something for Nobuo Uematsu to sign after the panel with his band. So Now I have a Japanese copy of FF IV signed by Nobio Uematsu. Totally worth it.

Eh, so many of those are significantly different from one another, though. The only real re-purchase you made was the #5 over #2, since iirc the PS1 version was at least "hardtype". The only difference in any of my FF7 purchases was the addition of terrible achievements in the "upgraded" PC version. As for FF4, I think I've bought it just three times - SNES, DS, and PSP. However, I've played the other three version that you listed in...certain ways. -------------------- Hey, put the cellphone down for a while In the night there is something wild Can you hear it breathing?
