Most definitely the snowboarding minigame from FF7. Oh man. That's better than a lot of games that focus SOLELY on snowboarding. This is just a minigame. I've found myself playing it for hours at a time, it's just that great.

Chocobo's Hot and Cold from FFIX.
That's the only Side Quest that never became tedious after a while.

The Cave of Phantom Beasts from FFIV was a close second, but just wasn't extensive enough.

I enjoyed the Chocobo breeding in FF7. Sure it was a pain in the ass, but the payoff was worth it. I have many fond memories of playing that with my bud.

Snowboarding and the Road Rash esque games from FF7 those really kicked butt.

In FF VII, definitely the snowboard sequence (I'm like Neal, I played it for hours). In fact, almost every minigame of the Gold Saucer was fun.
In FF IV, I liked the search for all the summons, it was nice.
I spent a good time in the chocobo quest in FF IX, and it was really fun and rewarding.
But my prefered side quest is the search for the remaining holy stones in FFT.

My favorite was the FF8 Triple Triad card game (though i hated 9's random luck based game). I liked the music, the setup, how you could play with almost anybody, and i made up strategies and uses for each card. I probably played thousands of games. Though the last batch of cards (either through the card queen or the card club on the ragnarok in disk 4) were very tedious and time consuming.

I also liked the snowboarding game, definitely cool. Especially because at the time I had been playing Cool Boarders 2 or 3 alot and was really into snowboarding.

The chocobo hot and cold was a good one, i thought the different colored chocobos looked awesome (much better than the inferior ff7's).

Meh, I'll give honorable mention to Blitzball in FF10.

I liked blitzball to, you could play for hours with all the game's many different features.

Also Gold Saucer itself had a lot of stuff to do from chocobo racing to the rollercoster ride. An all around good place for minigames.

Man Iforgot about Blitzball I really enjyed that one. It was difficult at first, until I got Brother then it was too easy. Still many many hours of fun to be had.

Ooh, I liked the Chocobo breeding in FFVII too. It took me forever, but I got so attached to my Chocobos. I felt so proud when they bred and made a cute little Chocobo baby (it took forever to get the right Green/Blue male/female combination), and I made sure to ride them all over the place and let them know they were loved. I named my first couple Grey and Guri (male Great and female Good); their offspring was Skye, a blue male. Then Grey and Guri mated again and produced Jade, a green female. Jade and Skye's child was Jet, a black male. Then I went out and caught Wind, a female Wonderful. She and Jet fell in love, and Aura, my golden female, was born! Later, they mated again and produced Helios, a golden male. Eventually I let Grey and Guri run free, so that their stables could be used for the golds. I loved my Chocobo so much. And no, I have no life. smile.gif

I liked the Chocobo Hot or Cold game in FFIX, it was always fun and was the only way to get some of the characters best weapons and opened the door to other side quests (i.e. mognet central side quest)

Out of all FF games I just love the whole Gold Saucer in general. That place is like going to the mall and finding the Arcade section, which I've been known to waste money in for hours.

I did that chocobo balloon game the 2nd time, you just need to plot your course and learn to dodge those stupid birds! but Blitzball is my fav Side-quest/mini-game of all time, so much fun for hours

I would have to agree on the Chocobo breeding in FF7. I would always save the game before breeding mine so all i had to do if i got a bad chocobo was reset. And while i got each chocobo better by racing them for the sole purpose of getting the Gold chocobo for Knights of the Round, i could collect some pretty cool rewards.

I also liked the snowboarding game, that rocked.

My favorite side-quests is
Possible spoilers: highlight to view
when you are trying to get all your characters back in final fantasy vi since you loose them when you go to the new world.
It is one of the most memorable moments of all and it expands on the storyline greatly.
