Quote You promised you'd take me there again someday.. but you never did. ![]() So i recently finished SH1, after playing 2 a month ago, and am fast falling in love with the series. Any other fans here? the general tide of internet opinion suggests the series has been going downhill ever since 3.. No spoilers after 2 pls ![]() -------------------- www.youtube.com/blinje The victor sacrificed the vanquished to the heavens |

I really enjoyed the second game but have never had a chance to play the first. We picked up a copy of the HD collection recently and it was worth it. I played 4 before 2 and 3 and enjoyed it, honestly it was more engrossing for me than 3. Beyond that, though, I couldn't tell you much about the series weakening. I hope it doesn't, I'm loving the games.

Ah wow, I'm really glad the HD collection managed to win new fans for the series..
despite that release's many problems. I wont go into detail here because the fact that you enjoyed it is all that matters. Although I hope you chose the original voice cast for 2.. -------------------- www.youtube.com/blinje The victor sacrificed the vanquished to the heavens |

Silent Hill evolved quite nicely in my mind. It certainly remained closer to its roots than Resident Evil has but im not going to get into that....
Though the looks and sounds have changed and the gameplay has as well it still has that creepy foreboding atmosphere that creeps the hell outta you whenever you play. And the advancements in graphics has actually helped make the series more scary in my mind. -------------------- The Bird of Hermes is my name, Eating my Wings to keep me tame... |

I haven't played any of the SH games, to be honest, but I did see the 06 Silent Hill film, and I really enjoyed it. I'm not a big fan of 'scary' movies, but the Silent Hill movie has one thing that the others do not: a plot. I first saw it years ago and always told myself I'd get around to one of the games, but so far it hasn't panned out. I notice a second film is coming out in a couple weeks: wonder if that'll be any good.

As I understand it, the SH film was an amalgam of 1's story, with features borrowed from the first 3 games. It angered many of the series' fans.
Also, one of the reasons the director used a woman decided to have a female lead to take the place of Harry Mason was apparently because he "read" Mason as a female... Despite the fact that it's clearly a dude. It makes me wonder.. does the fact that its a horror game with a vulnerable protagonist equal female to this guy? eesh.. that opens all sorts of potential arguments... ps: deathpen I'd go for #2 if I were you. I beat silent hill 2 yesterday, and got the rebirth ending.
I continued where i left off with silent hill 3.So far, it isn't as scary as 2, and i'm in the subway tunnels. Possible spoilers: highlight to view I died a few idiotic deaths, because i didn't know where to go, and that ghost got me killed once. -------------------- We are stardust. Our bodies are made from the guts of exploding stars.
