So I bought the Team Ico HD collection for ps3. For those of you who don't know, they're HD remasters of two PS2 games: Ico and Shadow of the Colossus.
In my not so colossal opinion these games serve to elevate the medium into an art form. Am I right in thinking that at least SoTC is a household name for most gamers? The main reason for this post is as follows; I can't get enough, seriously. I've finished both games several times, and my completionist urges have been satisfied by unlocking the platinum trophies for both. However, I STILL want to play Shadow of the Colossus more! There's other games to play, other books to read, other work I need to do but I can't get this game out of my head!! HELP? Has anyone else ever experienced this? It's sharing time people.. any Team Ico fans here? Shadow of the Colossus is a stellar game. I could simply wander the world map for hours on end (heh, wander...) and each boss fight is beautifully executed. It also is just long enough to never wear out its welcome, and just about every person that plays it raves about it. The HD Collection is a hell of a bargain, and looks great as well. I really like the PSN wallpapers you get along with it as well.
So yeah, I guess I'm a fan. -------------------- |

SotC is one of the most beautiful games I've ever played, and it's truly haunting. I got the HD collection as soon as it was released, having fallen in love with the PS2 edition. For lame personal reasons I haven't played the HD version much, but I would be in exactly the same boat as you otherwise.
Ico I had never played before, but am slowly working my way through. It's less appealing to me - maybe I just like the idea of a boy and his horse trying to save the girl than a boy and his stick having to babysit the girl! One things for certain, I absolutely agree that Team Ico's work elevates computer games to an art form. I just can't wait for The Last Guardian to make its way out of development hell and brighten my life as well! -------------------- We apologise for the inconvenience |

I was actually upset after I watched a Last Guardian trailer, after finishing the other two games.. not annoyed that its not out yet; physically unhappy that it may never.
Not wanting to play a remake isn't a lame personal reason man, you're attached to the original game and there's nothing wrong with that =] How are you finding Ico now, a few days on? I've returned to this thread because I just read something about there being a large ride-able hawk named 'Loki' by players that might be postgame I'm not sure.. but it only appears in 3 areas and tends to go very high up... Looks like I gotta fire up the game again today eh? can't stand there being something in the game I haven't seen ^O^ -------------------- www.youtube.com/blinje The victor sacrificed the vanquished to the heavens |

Both ICO and Shadow of the Colossus are simply amazing games, masterpieces even, and I definitely agree with you in saying that they represent how video games truly can become an art form.
Very much looking forward to playing The Last Guardian when it is released, whenever that may be. |

SotC sits comfortably in my top ten. It couldn't have come out at a more perfect time too for its own purposes. The industry was more clearly dominated by FPSs by that time, and everything was starting to look quite similar. This allowed SotC to stand out even more for its uniqueness.
Of the steller design teams doing great work in this generation (Valve, Bioware, Bethesda and Rockstar) ICO is the most offbeat, which makes their work make everything else look samey and boring. Now, I don't know if they'll be able to keep it up, because many have tried and failed to keep win streaks like this going. But here's hoping that the Last Guardian is close to being as good as SotC. -------------------- |

Sorry, think I may have confused you there. My lame personal reasons relate to a combination of hardly ever having time to turn on my PS3 any more, and personal memories of other people which have become attached to SotC. As for Ico, I'm afraid I've not picked it up since I last posted on this thread! I'm enojying it, but it's not captivating me. -------------------- We apologise for the inconvenience |
