This is a bit of an old thread, but a lot of the advice still holds. I'm not sure what the current line of best price vs. performance processors is. All I can say is that you definitely want it to be 64-bit and you definitely want it running Windows 7 x64 with at least 4 or 6 GB of RAM (depending on whether you're running dual or triple channel RAM).

Does no one use the 32bit versions of Windows anymore? All the computers in the house run the 32bit versions of Vista and 7.

If you have 64-bit capable hardware, a decent amount of RAM (say 4GB) and don't rely on any ancient 16-bit programs, there's not much point using 32-bit Windows any more. The ~3GB effective memory limit on 32-bit is going to mean it pretty much disappears soon.

hello,
I would recommend dual core processor, windows 7 probably you can try 1 or 2 GB of RAM with Nvidia graphics card. Well, if you love to play games try this specs. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Even its hard to do, always do good things.
