Personally, I don't bother getting rid of rules like Elemental. They make the game more interesting, but not really harder.
If you're interested in getting rid of rules like Random, you might be interested in looking up the RNG manipulation methods discussed on GFAQs.

The worse part is getting rid of random rule, and sudden death can be annoying, along with plus.Sudden death sucks too.

As for guides for getting rid of elemental:

Says to keep it,and even spread it sometimes, because its one of the easiest to get rid of.

Well, this won't actually HELP (outside of catharsis), but check out TheSpoonyOne's Final Fantasy VIII review. He hates Triple Triad in particular.

He's over at spoonyexperiment.com

I did,and i agree with a lot of stuff.

Another thing that is annoying:Getting spells to junction isn't hard, its just needlessly repetitious.Who in their right mind would make a game this masochistic?

I've spent hours farming triple spell just to junction it.

I'm still annoyed that CON has an FF7 section. That turned the series in the wrong direction, and IMAO the fanboys that got hooked on 7 don't try out older games.

You came to the wrong section, this thread is for ff8.

I advise you to stay on topic, because ranger51 will come here and close this thread, and give you a warning.I don't want to start any trouble, and i certainly don't want to start any fights between any fans of single games within the series.

So:Have you ever played ff8?

The card game in FF8 isn't really the best mini- game in the world, but you don't really have to do it, it isn't compulsory. If you don't enjoy the cards, don't stress yourself by forcing yourself to do something that you don't enjoy ! Lol.

The problem with the game is:Its either spend hours farming single spells,or farm cards which is slightly faster and less annoying than farming single spells.

I farm cards, because its less annoying than going into battles to farm single spells.I really don't want to be playing this game till next century, just to be effective and competitive in battle.I never thought i would say this:But i actually hate this game's gameplay more than i have ever hated an rpg gameplay in my life.FFXIII annoys me a lot, because gil is so scarce, and lvling up takes forever, but its nowhere near as annoying as ff8.The worse part is:A lot of bad things stick out more when the game isn't very good.I don't think ff8 is very good,in fact:I think many games previous and after are better in deliverance.

For instance:FF7 has better gameplay than ff8,because it is far less repetitious than ff8.Perhaps i am also overpowered, because i took out odin with like:3 renzoukens.I started hitting him with leonheart, and i was like:OUCH!! this is going to hurt, and he died.Took me like 15-20 seconds to kill a boss.

Seifer:I beat him so bad,i was laughing at him. Then i called him the wuss.
Edea:she wasn't too bad,but her casting death was annoying, but i expected that because she was a boss.At least she was more fun to kill than seifer.I was hoping more from seifer, because he was supposed to be a tough guy or something, like in the first cutscene, and even starts bullying and picking on zell, but then he gets beat up twice in a row in not much time intervals.

Actually, I rather enjoyed Triple Triad. It was an interesting diversion from the main game, the different rules were fun to get to grips with, and don't forget rare cards can be refined for some interesting items, especially later on in the game.

As for the random rule, I think there's a Queen of Cards who can change certain rules in certain locations for you. I'm not sure how it works exactly though, since it's been ages since I last played FFVIII.

Maybe I should dust off my copy and have another go...

I got ragnarok now,and i went to the shumi village.

Here are some things i believe should have been done differently:

Make triple triad a separate game that isn't part of powering up thing.I really don't think its fun to farm cards for spells, especially when its done as another alternative that is tedious.

Second:rules:Make it possible more easily to spread certain rules, and eliminate them if you want. The player doesn't want to be forced to use really bad rules like random, and its no fun trying to get the card queen to go somewhere after giving her card with random, because random prevents you from being able to do this efficiently.

It is separate. If you don't think it's fun to farm cards for spells, then don't do it. There's plenty of other (and quicker) ways to farm magic so why choose a slower method then complain about it being too tedious?

I never had a problem getting all the magic I needed just from drawing it from monsters or draw points and refining the odd item.

Because there are no real sure ways to get spells fast.

Drawing:Very slow and tedious.
Card modding:Slow and tedious unless you can mod high level cards.

Either way requires a lot of farming.

Drawing magic is only slow if you your character has a low magic stat, otherwise they'll generally be drawing 9 of the magic each time. That just takes 12 draws to have 100, assuming you started with 0. Add a high speed stat or haste to that and it won't take that long.

You can easily combine this with modding items that you don't need to magic and you'd have 100 of most magic in no time.

No matter what way you do it, farming things isn't going to go quickly; that's why they call it farming.

Its already beaten anyways, not like i'm going to replay it any time soon, besides:I'm playing dragon quest 8,and doing the dragovian trial run.

I still stand by everything i said about the gameplay:

Needs more towns and dungeons
Could have used tougher enemies who don't die so easily in the end
Card queen is very annoying, and trying to lose a specific card in random sucks.

I found the story also corny in ff8,but i enjoyed it because it made me laugh.

I still find the idea of getting the squall card annoying, but you supposedly can get it in an alternate way,so i guess that isn't so bad.

Actually regarding the drawing. With magic, its a lot faster for sure. Haste definitely. But even without those, making battles active and fastest battle and msg speeds it goes extremely quick. Memory cursor and minor monitoring and you can draw 100 within a couple minutes probably less.
