Hey all, back for a bit after a long while of a being away. I was wondering if any of you Wii users have gotten the virtual console version of FF6 yet? I know when they do the virtual console editions of games they don't usually change much to the game other than do a little polish on the graphics and change the control settings for the wii instead of the original game. I was wondering if the fixed any of the glitches that were on the original SNES version of the game, or did they port the GBA remake of this game to the virtual console? Has any one noticed any other additions? though i highly doubt they'd add anything new to the virtual console version it would still be interesting to see. Please let me know if you've played this version.

It seems to be a direct port of the 1.1 version of the SNES game. Ted Woolsey's name is in the credits (unlike the PSX port), they kept the scene where Celes gets beaten up by Imperial guards (removed from the semi-recent GBA game) and all bugs are still present except for the Sketch glitch, which was fixed in the 1.1 version release of the SNES game.
It felt like a high-quality port from what I've seen, but I can't compare it to the original since I've never seen it in action... This post has been edited by Djibriel on 26th July 2011 08:56 -------------------- |

I see well sounds like they are keeping the reverance the game has had all these years. I am glad that scene is back in to be honest, not that i like that scene per say, but it's nice to have the original back. That scene showed the brutality of the empire, cutting it to satisfy parents was a stupid reason to cut it i think. How many wii points does the game cost?

Certianly not the most expensive game out there. But i am glad it is selling for a decent amount. It is after all the best final fantasy ever.

Don't murder me, but I got it two days ago. :3
It's great. I'm on the Imperial Camp, right after getting Terra with her Esper form. And it's much more than a decent amount. It's a game that cost around 50-60 bucks when it first came out. This post has been edited by Chell172 on 31st July 2011 19:07 |

*twitches* of course not why would i murder you. jk. what i ment was that the virtual shop has a certian variant in prices for games. I believe it goes from 5 dollars to upwards of ten to 15 dollars. not sure on that. however i believe 8 dollars is great for the game because this is as i said the best final fantasy ever.

NES games are 500 points, SNES games are 800 points, N64 games are 1000 points, and I don't care about the Genesis or anything else. WiiWare can be any price. |

I really kind of think they missed an opportunity here. They could have dropped in all the changes they made to the GBA version (yknow, besides the censorship) and put it up for download on the Virtual Console. I don't know about you, but the music on the GBA version just doesn't do it for me.
I suppose times are tough all round, and I did like this game very much when it was released originally in 1994. So the same game selling as DLC for the Wii can't be a bad thing by any stretch of the imagination. But man, they need to really give this story its due with a killer remake... The character models from Dissidia are very pretty. Whoever designed those should be brought aboard for any remake of this game. I'd like there to be more animation than was in Dissidia, but if you think about it, what I'm describing isn't that different from Dragon Quest 8, which they have already done. So here I am, crossing my fingers... -------------------- X is blue. |

It's a port of the SNES game, and they wouldn't make any changes that were present only for the PSX release. -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

Surely it's directly emulated rather than ported, like every other VC game?

Tiddles: You're almost certainly right. That's my mistake for using the words interchangably when they're definitely not.
Magitek_slayer: That has been rumored and discussed, but there's never been any real credible evidence of it that I've seen. It's also not on the topic of a Virtual Console release. -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

I simply wish they would put as much effort as they did into redoing ff1-4 into ffvi chrono trigger. These have to be the most in demand right now I'm sure.

Both FFVI Advance and CT DS have had additional content, though they aren't complete remakes in the style of FFIV DS. Is the latter what you want?
As for the VC release, though, pretty much EVERY game on there is just a ROM for use with an internal (and official) emulator, so you'll have to settle for the SNES FFVI ver. 1.1. Feel free to blame them for being cheap, but yeah, that's the cheapest, quickest way for them to re-release a game. Yeah of course the latter. If they remade both CT and ffvi id pay at least 50$ for each if they put the same effort into it. If I could I would have done it already and hoped they didn't shut me down like they did to those people who remade CT. They shut them down IMO because they realized they did not only a better job than they could but also they were simply being assholes. Don't shut someone down for trying to show respect and trying to relive a great game. They should have taken it as a compliment. They probably weren't even going to charge for it... also if you're gonna shut it down at least prove why... as in doing it yourself and release a new version of the game. Instead of selling a game on DS that barely can be considered a remake.
