After submitting some fanart last night, I noticed the subject of the resulting e-mail was "Fanart Submitted: 980". We're getting close to CoN's 1000th Fanart Submission!

I was thinking maybe a few of us could start collaborating on a special piece to be CoN's 1000th.

Anyone interested?

Post your ideas and/or volunteer in this thread.

One thing that we might want to consider is to make one or two "companion pieces" for when we get close to the 1000th so that when it hits 998 or 999, we can submit the companion ones and then the collaborated piece all at once to ensure that we get it in as #1000.

I remember collaborating with Relm a while back on an idea where we'd draw up our favorite characters from the series and pass the picture to another artist to add their characters and just keep going around. Never found out what happened to it.

I sort of have no talent, but I like NPs idea. I'd be willing to throw on a black Mage, which is pretty much the only thing I can draw. If Ashley doesn't catch this topic I'll see if I can get ahold of her. It seems to me the most effective way to go about this would be getting all the seperate drawings together and then having one person be the arrangeer who collages them all together. I love murals!

Where did the collab go?! I gave it to Final Alias, and I think FA was passing it on to someone else, but I hadn't heard of that since?

Sure, we could use that collab for this; that'll work.

I tried passing it on to Kame, but I think there may have been some confusion/trouble, so it kind of died off there.

Anyway, here's a plan:

We can have 3 stages.

Stage 1 will consist of the linework. Any and everyone that wants to join in can do so. I will post the starting picture, and anyone who wants to draw something will re-post the picture with a red circle around the area they want to draw in so that people know that that particular area of the picture is under construction and is therefore reserved. Please mention who you're putting into that red circle in your post. Once they're done, they will re-post the picture with their addition.

Stage 2 will consist of blocking in the color. This is a very simple task which pretty much anyone can help with. Basically, it just consists of filling any areas with solid color. No shading, no highlighting, no gradients, just solid areas of colors. This gives the colorists a starting point for adding more detailed color to the picture. Again, if you're going to color something, re-post the picture with a red circle around that area so that people know it's being worked on. In order to have consistency of color, we will also have a picture of dots (swatches) of color that people can use or add to (only rules for adding new colors is that if its similar to an existing dot (swatch) of color, use that color, and if not, add the dot yourself and re-post the image).

Stage 3 will consist of adding more detail, and probably a background. Since this step is more specialized, it will probably only be handled by one or two people.

Some notes on the picture:

From left to right: Cyan and the dancer from Nikeah, Locke, and Celes (by myself), Sabin and Edgar (by Narratorway), Terra and an orphan (by RelmArrowney).

These are all FF6 characters so far, but let's open it up to any of your favorite characters from any FF game covered by CoN.

Eeep, now that my tablet is working better, I might update my picture. I'll probably do the same picture, just without the shading and fixing minor flaws!

If no one else is interested in helping out, maybe I'll do some other piece of fanart for the big 1K. Is this too comical? Not serious/epic enough?

It's not too late to pick it up again. The link in my previous post is the full-sized current draft. Feel free to download and add to it.

Looks much better, Relm! The kids in particular are very well-portrayed. And I did make one "buffer" image we can use to submit along with this so that we can make sure this is number 1000. Looks like the submissions are up to 993, so we're getting really close.

Moderators, can you please let us know when the submissions get up to 997 or 998? We can only view the approved ones, so we have no other way of being sure.
