Quote (BlitzSage @ 15th August 2011 16:09) I wonder if they'll hold off a bit to see what they can do with the WiiU system. Since that system's HD, has a new controller, and is coming out next year, I would think they'd at least think of that as an option. And I'm sure that developers have known about the new hardware longer than we have, and either way they could delay it. that may be the game that gets me into the series if they do that. That makes much more sense than a surprise 3DS version. It would be similar to what happened to Twilight Princess, with its simultaneous Wii version revealed after it had been in development for the GameCube for some time. But really? Having an unreleased, unproven mystery of a game being "the game that gets [you] into the series" just because it's on a new system? I'd still try to go for one of the older ones if you can, if only for financial reasons. My three favorite DQ games (IV, V, and VIII) are all available new on Amazon for under $20. -------------------- |

The next year is full of titles I'm dying to get my hands on. Mass Effect 3, Borderlands 2, Batman: Arkham City, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm, Dead Island, Diablo 3 just off the top of my head.

I'm most excited for Diablo 3, but there are a few other games I'll be buying as soon as they release. Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm, as well as Elder Scrolls: Skyrim.
I'm iffy on Star Wars: The Old Republic. I used to be incredibly excited for it, but on the other hand I don't think it is in my best interest to get addicted to another MMORPG. I played WoW way, *way* too much and the raiding requirements of my friends made for a quite unhealthy amount of playing time in the evenings. And it doesn't bode well (or help my decision) that my same buddies I've been playing with since around 1998 or so have been raving about the game and figuring out what they're going to do already. The game does look fantastic, though. But I'd better just sit that one out at a point in my life where I can't afford to completely immerse myself in such a huge game (because I know if I got it, I wouldn't be able to play in moderation). Yeah, that's true, but idk. For some reason, the DQ series I've continued to look over. Every time I've thought about trying one of the games, I remember another game I was going to buy, like Symphony of the Night. The "under $20" part does seem appealing though... I'm thinking that I could order one with another game next time I order one. In terms of getting into classic franchises, it's still pretty low for me, but Im sure that if I bought one, I'd love it. -------------------- |

So, played the Space Marine demo and pre-ordered... Modern Warfare 3.
Having said that, Space Marine demo seems good. I'm not too used to controls having only played about ten minutes, but it's quite different from the way Gears of War apparently works. Being an eight foot tall super solder clad in armour that can withstand a tank shell somewhat renders the concept of cover superfluous. It's by no means a classic, this much I can tell by the ten minutes I played. What it is, is the kind of game 40k fans would have wanted of it, and the kind of game I think non-fans would be well advised to try it out. Demo is out on XBox Live, PS3, and for non-Brits, Steam. Yes. That's right. 40k is a British owned IP, but THQ are being strong-armed by Game it seems. Game deny it (and I don't believe them ) but I find it amusing a shop that barely even sells PC games is doing this. If this keeps up it'll threaten more major releases - Skyrim and Saints Row The Pretentious included. What? It is pretentious. The Third? Makes the damn thing sound like a hipster... Anyway, back to relevance. Does it still count as looking forward now there's a demo? And release is next week? Either way, I'll see if I can afford it. Not from Game or Gamestation, of course. Good old AmaCoN... Game, a store that is mediocre at best can have clout over Steam which is a fantastic service, and the gamers themselves suffer because of it. Thanks game, utter C***s. I dislike how our world works sometimes.....most of the time.. Game is probably the worst game shop in Britain. I don't understand why anyone shops there when the new games are not given any quirky deals like on Steam or in Gamestation, the used games are few and far between and not hilariously cheap, and the shops are always claustrophobically tiny to squeeze the most out of the floorspace. Well in MY experience anyway (Edinburgh, Glasgow, London, Leeds). However the staff are quite good... at recommending another store where I can buy what I need, e.g. a PS2 memory card or a USB Xbox pad. I swear people go there because of the advertising and the name 'Game'. It's a store for terrified parents. Maybe that's why Gamestation put out an ad campaign aimed directly at terrified parents. Also I read your 'utter c****s' in a shocking Norn Airn accent because my friend says that all the time, just thought you should know ![]() Anyways, the game I'm waiting for is Deus Ex Human 3, because I've played the first 10 hours and it's absolutely mouth-expandingly brilliant and I'm jealous of everyone who hasn't played the original Deus Ex. In a lot of ways it plays more like a remake than a sequel, but for all the right reasons. I can see this game blowing a lot of minds. It comes out in about 2 days here, although everywhere except Japan already has it... -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. I went to a Game in Bath when I visited there in May, mostly to have the novelty of a British PSP or DS game that I could play. It seemed... like an American Gamestop, but with slightly worse selection and some 3-for-2 deal going on. Nothing like the sales you'll find on Amazon or Steam.
Also, the staff there tried to guess what part of the United States I was from by my accent, but each of them was off by at least 1000 miles. -------------------- |
