League of Legends.
Yes, an entire game based entirely around ripping off a custom scenario map from WCIII... Am I the only one shamefully participating in this travesty of a game? -------------------- If you've been mod-o-fied, It's an illusion, and you're in-between. I don't think it's a rip-off because one of the leads is the man who took over design of the original Dota. But yeah I played it for a while. It's a really good game. There was another thread for this before. I looked but couldn't find it.

I used to play it. I don't have time to anymore these days. Great game though, got many of my friends addicted to it. -------------------- "And that, my liege, is how we know the Earth to be banana-shaped” -Sir Bedevere the Wise |

I tried it the other day ... after a couple of expeditions, I quit. I downloaded D&D online and am so enjoying it more than League.

I've played maybe 10-15 times and I can't see it. Or maybe the learning curve was high and I wasn't interested in climbing. Either/or. -------------------- I find your lack of faith disturbing... |

I played on and off during WCIII and some of the current custom maps in SCII. League of Legends itself I've only tried briefly, but it strikes me as something I'd enjoy a lot more with a full group of friends rather than anonymous internet trolls.

The most frustrating part of the game is being matched with people who are trolls/stupid/don't speak English. I usually play on LAN with three to four other people, and things usually go well... although you'd be surprised what one horrible player can do to a team. -------------------- If you've been mod-o-fied, It's an illusion, and you're in-between. Just thought I'd mention (since it's relevant to the game proper) that it has an extremely fast-growing e-sports community and an upcoming LoL tournament contains the largest prize pool ever offered for any competitive gaming tournament, at five million dollars. How's that for incentive to give the game a try?

I've played it a few times. It was ok, just not something I'd get addicted to.
It's annoying when someone who you hang out with plays it, because if they care about their ranking (or whatever) at all, they won't leave their game, so they're pretty much locked into that game for at least a half hour. Apparently you can get de-ranked of sorts (someone who plays, correct me!) if you leave during a game. -------------------- You're telling me that there's no hope. I'm telling you you're wrong. |

If you leave a game before the game has ended, you're blocked from joining any other game other than the game you previously left. On top of that, in leaving an active game and staying out for a certain duration of time (or if the game completes without you) you're penalized by a loss in rank points and banned from joining another game for a short time. (When I last played, it was five minutes. I don't know if that has since been changed.)
I honestly don't mind any of those rules. Yes, it sucks if something comes up and you absolutely have to leave the game/computer, but generally if that's the case, you'll probably still be occupied while the ban elapses, and most people don't play to earn a high ladder ranking. Meanwhile, it punishes rage-quitters and griefers by forcing them to either stick to the game. -------------------- Okay, but there was a goat! |

I guess its been long enough that it won't count as a double post?
At any rate, a bit of threadcromancy is in order. I've found myself playing a lot (read: hours per day) of LoL over the last few months. A bunch of us in chat play pretty regularly and I figured it couldn't hurt to hit up the forums and see if anyone else reading this plays at all, or has been meaning to check the game out but hasn't due to lack of anyone to play with. It's completely free-to-play, and terribly addictive. Especially so if you're competitive at games. Feel free to add me up, my summoner name is Javvy. -------------------- Okay, but there was a goat! |
