anyone here seen X (anime, TV, not the movie). i saw it, and it seems strangely similar to matrix, especially one scene where hinoto's guardian who happens to be one of the seven seals fights against many man wearing sunglasses and black shirts who all has the same face. anyone else thinks of a rip-off? if so, who ripped-off who? (does scenes like that appear in the X movie/manga that came before matrix).

Well, Matrix was HEAVILY influenced from anime, so it's not entirely impossible. I can't remember when X was released, but it wouldn't surprise me if Matrix "borrowed" some of it's ideas.

That's been a pretty standard thing for a while though. A super strong guy fighting a bunch of people who look the same, clones, what have you.

The clouds ran away, opened up the sky
And one by one I watched every constellation die
And there I was frozen, standing in my backyard
Face to face, eye to eye, staring at the last star
I should've known, walked all the way home
To find that she wasn't here, I'm still all alone

Yep! Matrix has got inspiration from many classic animes! Look at Akira and Ghost In The Shell to name a few...

The Matrix series is like a giant mix of plot lines from various animes, thrown into a blender with some pyscho director's vision of what he wants in a movie. I've noticed a few similarities with a few animes that I've seen. Then again, what isn't
strikingly similar in this day and age of re-runs and borrowed ideas.

I just saw Ghost in a Shell a few days ago for the first time. I'm still slightly confused about what was going on, but it was obvious that some elements were similar to the Matrix.

1) i just remembered, in that episode, after the clones fight against that woman, a man shows up and they all jump on him together (and transform into some big black thing that surrounds him), the matrix had the same thing only there they did not do a group-transform and it looked more like some wierd game of football
2) i can understand similarities between matrix and ghost in the shell, but X is much more mystic-oriented than tech-oriented, so similiarity between the two is kinda wierd.

True that one is tech oriented and one is Mystic oriented, but then again, doesn't it seem really mystic style when Neo raises a hand, and hundreds of bullets just stop in place, or that he can reach into someone, and restart their heart with his hand?

X is a pre-armaggedon manga.
The story in X is about two groups fighting against each other, the seven seals and the seven angels, there is one who will be chosen, and will be the leader of one of these groups, he has all sorts of powers and stuff, his name is Kamui but he just wants to live peacefully.
i've only seen the first 5 episodes of the TV series, and not the movie or the actual manga, so if you want to know more, you should probably ask someone else.

Actually, you summed up X rather well enough.

Now that Bismark said that bit about the X-Men, I've spent a bit of time trying to see if there are any really noticeable common grounds between the two series.
Other than the odd attraction to wearing leather, I didn't see much. Oh well.
