yeah, I know.

let's just discuss this ok

so I think one fun/silly/totally stupid but I liked it anyway/etc. part of X-2 was the different things that came with each dressphere.

Like the quotes (Yuna as Lady Luck: "Game over, man. Game. Over.")

the sphere changes (The Dark Knight coming from an evil place underground)

seeing Auron's samurais, Yuna's rods, Tidus' sword, etc.

and the dressphere costumes themselves were cool. I mean, ok, they do have some super lame ones (like Paine's theif dressphere) but the others aren't bad at all.

It's a game unlike anything I've ever played. Basically I couldn't be bothered grinding out the jobs so I used Rikku's special sphere thing where she rides a mechanical chocobo and used Vajra (I'll never forget that name) on literally everything else in the game, even the last boss. This is a move I got in chapter 2 and it's all I used to complete it. I reverted back to the three character party with the job classes and was killed very quickly by ordinary monsters. I've never played a game where the vast majority of the gameplay can be missed entirely by one single big magic. I can't think of any other game where it hands you one single move early on that can carry you to the end. Vajra made the whole game a breeze but I only wanted to play through it and see the story. In some ways I thought that was a good thing; it was nice not having to grind.

Also I remember my bad completion percentage ending which basically isn't an ending, it's Yuna talking a bit and flying off while the world leaders lean in to a mic and talk to a crowd like they're on a f-king pirate radio station or something. Then I watched the other endings and felt that mine was better. The good thing about the normal ending was that it felt like there was so much still to go. I find that games have a backstory that you don't play, a plot that you do play, and an ending that finishes everything conclusively. It was nice to have a canonical ending where there is no end to Yuna's story. I've just played a part of it and I'll never know how everything turns out. That's pretty unique I think.

Possible spoilers: highlight to view
Tidus is dead. That's all there is to it. Yuna will have to live with that fact or go mad trailing the world trying to find him.

Now there's a good ending!

Another miscellaneous thing I liked was some of the fights that felt like fighting another FF party. The ones that use potions, attack, Light Curtains and things like that. I know in other FFs some items and magic are used by bosses and so on, but here the HP and wide variety of magics, items and regular attacks seemed a lot more similar to what I was doing. Ok that's a lie I was using Vajra on repeat, however if I was playing the game properly they were fighting like I would be.

One last thing. Out of all the FFs this is the one I couldn't play again. I feel to old and male; it's like a preteen girls' pyjama party, I'd feel ridiculous and slightly suspect if I turned up for the night.

Though I find the story and dialogue of X-2 frustratingly stupid at times, I do enjoy the game as a whole.

I really liked the Dressphere system, and being able to change jobs in battle.
I liked that the battles felt faster and more fluid than other FFs which use the ATB system since one didn't have to sit through every attack animation one by one.
I like that the game has a New Game +, and that one can make decisions to influence the outcome of the story.
Well, the main plot has fixed events, but the optional areas often had different ending depending on how much you completed or what decisions you made.
I liked the mission structure, and having most of Spira available for exploring right from the beginning.
It was nice revisiting the world of FFX and seeing how things had changed.
Although I found most of the music forgettable, there were a few pieces I really enjoyed such as the main menu theme.

So to some up, I find X-2 to be a fun and enjoyable game to play even if the story isn't all that great.

I just have begun to play it. It isn't a bad game, but somehow I lost the motivation to play it. Have to go on, though.

However, what I don't like so much is the costume system. I mean, it is nice to switch your job on demand, but I think it would have been better with FF V's or FFTA's addtion to carry over abilties to another job.

The battle system is quite the opposite of FF X, it is very fast. I somehow quickly lost the overview.

IFF X was way more funny for me.

The thing about FFX-2 for me was that I didn't care for 90% of the game, but simply couldn't keep myself from finishing it due to the other 10% and the simple fact that it was in Spira (even though I wasn't terribly thrilled about a few of the changes that had taken place since the conclusion of FFX-2).

I thought that the battle system in FFX-2 was actually quite good; it felt fast without feeling rushed and just felt fresh in general. I also enjoyed seeing how Spira had changed, even if some of those changes (Wakka x Lulu...) were ones that didn't quite sit well with me.

On the other hand, I found myself hating just about all of the new characters and being frustrated with certain changes in old characters. A lot of the dialogue and plot felt a little bit silly/pointless as well.

In summary, then, the best part of FFX-2 was that there was FFX in it. The worst part of FFX-2 was that there was a lot of FFX defacing going on in it. I think it was worth my straight playthrough, but I'd like to deny that a few things in there are FFX canon.

I really loved the Dressphere/Job system. Developing each character to your liking is customization at its best. Plus the variety of different dresspheres made the customization even better.

I liked the whole percentage/story completion aspect was also very intriguing. It's nice to track progress through different missions and such. Although it was something new for me, I thought it was nice to stray away from the traditional for once. Also, I can't go without mentioning the hidden scenes in the game. Hot springs anyone? >=)
