What I mean by Game Breaker.
I'd say, without a doubt it would be Orlandu. Some gamebreakers need to use limit breaks (ex. Wakka and Zell) or you need to do a sidequest to power them up (ex. Quina), or they are guest characters (ex. FuSoYa). So therefore, it's Orlandu. |

Getting full Onion equipment for an Onion Knight in FF III. Nothing else really comes close, but it's a significant effort to do so.

In terms of reward vs the effort you have to put in, I really don't think there's any question that Orlandu is one of the biggest gamebreakers out there. I'd also like to suggest the Aura magic in Final Fantasy 8 - you can draw tons of them from Seifer in Lunatic Pandora and you can also get them on the Hell/Heaven islands, which pretty much makes anybody in your party a killing machine without risk of getting too low on HP to normally activate the limits. Even SELPHIE can easily become a WMD with this method, so it's pretty broken.

Aura abuse was my favourite FF8 strategy, usually with Invincible Moon. And yeah, when I saw this thread in the forum listing, my first thought was also Thundergod Cid. |

I agree with Neal on that, Orlandu just made my opponents become mincemeat.

Zanmato, one of Yojimbo's attacks in FFX. It's an instant finishing move. In the International FFX there are Dark Aeons and Penance, each does 99,999 damage in nearly every attack, including some concurrent attacks like Shiva's kick where she enjoys just kicking everyone for 99k in a row until they've all dead. They also have an incredible amount of HP. Without Zanmato beating them is a challenge which requires 10s if not 100s of hours of preparation, I remember my save at 200+ hours. Zanmato ends all the challenges of FFX in one move, all it requires is getting Yojimbo and giving him masses of money for his attack. Once enough has been given to him he'll do it for 1 Gil.
I would say the game is basically over in terms of challenge before this, however the extra challenge of the Dark Aeons may be the most difficult set of bosses in all FFs, and Zanmato breaks it. It's that Relm and her freakin' sketch abillty. Always broke my game!!!!!!! j/k Anyway, definitely Orlandu. I would think the rest of FFT would be nearly impossible without him. Though I'm sure people have tried!

Do you mean 'without him' as in editing him out of the game, or 'without him' as in without using him after you get him? If you mean the latter, let me just point you to the Single Character Class challenges, and to the Calculator one in particular... |

I agree, Orlandu was easily the difference. Now I have the urge to go play Tactics now.

TG Cid definitely came to mind as the most obvious, although I found Ramza as a maxed out monk/ninja was also pretty game breaking as well.
Short of that...my Squall in FFVIII broke the game fairly well for me, although I never got to use him in the final boss battle haha. -------------------- Games on the Go Final Fantasy VII Final Fantasy: Four Warriors of Light Baldur's Gate Too much to play, so little time! Greg |

The closest to a gamebreaker I ever encountered were these: Eden in VIII, Knights of the Round/Omnislash (or Cait's insta-win if your lucky) in VII, I gave every sphere in X to Auron, creating an indestructible monster by the second half of the game, and lastly, depending on your reflexes, the quickenings in XII.

It all depends on what game you're playing.
As far as I'm concerned, give Terra an economizer and the gem box and she becomes a magical glass cannon. -------------------- Oops! Had the silly thing in reverse.^_^" "I'm afraid the mouse is SMACK...dab in the middle of enemy territory." ~Kefka -- Dissidia Final Fantasy |

Gamefaqs has a FAQ about SCC challenges that includes a list of people who were supposedly the first to successfully complete each challenge. For a long time, the Calculator and Mime challenges were incomplete, and each have been checked off since then. As an aside, once I trained him up, Cloud was the gamebreaker for me in Tactics, easily doing up to 999 damage in a single shot against the final boss. |

If I recall correctly, Climhazzard does damage equal to the amount of damage already taken by the target, and is relatively fast to charge. Because he was a lower level, the other folks got to go first, and then he came in and effectively doubled their damage in a single shot. Against regular enemies, Finishing Touch is an AoE Stop or Petrify with a decent charge time. He has his drawbacks of course, but these two abilities make him fairly valuable if one wishes to invest in his growth. |

As far as FFVII is concerned, it has to be the Phoenix Summon - Final Attack materia combo. Have these materias mastered on all characters and you are virtually indestructable. Of course, it takes hours of grinding to get the amount of necessary materia, but the feeling of power is worth it.
And Sweetdude is right about Zanmato in FFX. I beat Penance with just one blow using that. I actually felt I'd cheated afterwards. ![]() -------------------- "Smoking's bad, mm'kay?" -Mr Mackey- |
