So please vote and also if you have comments about why and etc, feel free to post those. My thoughts on those four: Fable: underwhelming. Not great. Fable 2 is significantly better, but still not great. I haven't played any other Fable games, but I feel that the series is extremely overrated. Infinite Undiscovery: I haven't played it, but I've heard about it. From the Star Ocean guy, space opera RPG of sorts; a quick internet search tells me that it got middling-to-above-average reviews. Skies of Arcadia Legends - not *quite* as awesome as the Dreamcast version (which has better sound and visual quality) but it includes all of the DLC automatically and adds a bunch of new things on its own. Either way, SoA is one of my favorite RPGs of all time. Best world map of any game ever. Final Fantasy XII - I haven't played more than an hour or two of this game, but I don't have any real disdain for it. It's almost as divisive as Chrono Cross; some people hate FF XII, some people love it. It shares most of its core creative team with Final Fantasy Tactics and Vagrant Story, for what it's worth. Bottom line: play Skies of Arcadia. At least try it. I do find it amusing that your selections are an XBox game, a PS2 game, a Gamecube game, and a 360 game. Trying to decide on a system and don't want to remove any games from disc trays? ![]() -------------------- |

Which system deserves more love and etc. I will admit that I was already leaning more toward the Skies of Arcadia anyway, but I did need some input. Everyone else is still welcome to contribute as I am currently trying to decide if I really want to go all the way through FFIV again (I'm in the Tower of Zot and think that I don't) or I'm gonna jump to the interlude and after story. But again, that's giving handheld love and my main consoles need some love too. -------------------- Chewbekah ^_^ Currently Playing: Final Fantasy XIV: ARR, Attack of the Firday Monsters, Animal Crossing: A New Leaf, Lego City Undercover, Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Remix Recently Finished: Fire Emblem: Awakening Favorite Game: Suikoden III |

I also voted for Skies of Arcadia, I found it to be a really fun RPG with awesome music, a decent-enough storyline, and good characters. I'm on the "hate" side of FF12 that Lasz describes as I tried so, so hard to get into it multiple times and gave up in frustration each time. I have not played Infinite Undiscovery.
I actually had a blast with Fable and played through it a couple times. I definitely think it underdelivered with some of the things that were promised by Molyneux and his company, but if you haven't heard much of the official hype and just get reviews from players, I think you'll be fine. I still like SoA better. -------------------- Hey, put the cellphone down for a while In the night there is something wild Can you hear it breathing? Never played SoA, but its on my list of games-to-play-soon for sure if I get a chance to. The only thing I know about Infinite Undiscovery is it has an idiotic name.
FFXII however is one of my favorite games of all time. I see why some people don't like it, the same way I know why some people don't like FFIX or VIII. It depends what you're looking for; but I guarantee you, if it was 'Final Fantasy XII' and was just another console JRPG, there would be no hate, maybe not absolute universal love, but all the slight flaws would be seen as simply that, not some game breaker that spits on the legacy of Final Fantasy, and would probably be considered a stand-out classic in an era where big console JRPGs are hard to come by. Hm, long sentence. Either way, I recommend it, specially since it is really easy to pick up from GameStop, as opposed to the other two. Fable's okay. Wasn't a huge fan. -------------------- I fear my heart and fear my soul Life goes on, it surely will, Without me and I wonder: Will I ever see light again? Life goes on... |

Ok so you SoA supporters are probably gonna hate me but I couldn't get into SoA. I'm not really sure what the problem was other than it was a fully 3D environment which I mentally have trouble with at times because I don't have a great sense of direction but I know one of the biggest annoyances for me was how the camera jumped around during battles. Made me dizzy. Other than that I didn't feel pulled in by the story really. I don't know. I might give it another chance later because sometimes it's just the timing of things and I will just love them later and hate them the first time I try them. I popped in Fable but although I enjoy it, it's not something I could play hours on end because it doesn't have the compelling story. So, FFXII will probably be he pick. I did enjoy it the first time I tried to play it I just kind of got myself into a situation where I was underlevelled and went hunting after one of the creatures that you can hunt down, I think it was a ghost and couldn't get out of the area without engaging it in combat. I did pick up one that wasn't on the list that is kind of fun and adorable, Nostalgia for DS. If I want to talk more about that one I'll probably create another thread.

I'm another in the 'love FFXII' category. I vaguely remember it taking a few hours to really get into it but once I was it became fantastic to play through. Not to mention that hunting some outrageously well designed special monsters is my favourite part of the game, not anything in the first 10 hours.
Fable is good for mindless gaming but nothing else. I enjoyed playing card pairs in the first pub to get enough money to buy one of the best swords in the game right at the beginning. There is a degree of flexibility and fun in the game but it ends badly. Overall, nothing to write home about. -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. Me on the Starcraft. |
