Have you ever had a non-threatening looking monster come up to you and make your party its b****? I wanna know which of these monsters you underestimated the most. For me I have to go with the well known Tonberry. It just looks so harmless

Magic Pots. Sometimes my impulsive playing has led me to game overs due to accidentially attacking one and it OHKOing my party. FFVI and FFX stick out the most.

Well on the quest for the class upgrade FF1 I was slaughtered pretty fast.
Had to level a whole lot before I would move on through there. Cannot exactly recall any one enemy. Also about the Tonberry they would always scare me from the start really. I had always known before hand what the Tonberry was capable of. |

All those annoying insects in the Marsh Cave in FF1. You know, the ones thar Paralyzed you and your character would never get out of it, making you throw your paddle in frustration and strain your vocal chords.
Or the ones that poisoned you, and you always wondered why you didn't feel like buying that potion to cure you. |

Quote (Fatal @ 27th September 2010 18:04) I once believed the Tricker, back in the SNES/PS versions of FFIV and casted bolt on him...BAD IDEA!!! That floating orange imp wiped me out! I had a level 65-ish party, and went into battle fully prepared to nuke its 12000 HP. Fully healed. I purposely cast a Lit-1 spell at it to tick it off. Then I proceeded to smack it with Lit-3, Blitz, high-powered attacks, and I think White and healing. It still got me. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. You can find me on the Fediverse! I started a Solo Red Mage playthough of FFI, and the early game enemies that can paralyze you just by attacking can nearly guarantee a Game Over.

Those crazy ram-looking creatures on the island in FFIX. They appear silly and weak but use Meteor and are absurdly powerful.

I used to think enemy summoners in FFT were a joke, until I started trying single-class-only challenges. My set of 5 Samurai went undefeated for the large majority of the game (up to the ridiculous late game boss fights), excepting the one normally innocuous fight at Bariaus Hill. I had to reset dozens of times against those two freaking enemy summoners.

id have to go with the mother bomb boss fight in final fantasy 4. where the bombs would combine into that huge cloud and rape my party (yang included) i tried for 45 minutes to try and kill that boss. it was painful and frustrating...

In FFXII the little Mu's in the Feywood. I actually laughed at them when they hopped towards me to attack... then they killed me.

Sinspawn Gui. I know this might sound strange, but every battle up until that point had been "attack, heal, win." This guy? He was HARD.

I'm going to have to say Cactuar. Everybody knows what a Cactuar is, and they may have a low HP count, but they are downright dangerous.

There's a really pretty, tranquil forest in FF7 I HATED. I remember it being near Cosmo Canyon. It had these frogs that would turn you into frogs and put you to sleep for its first attack, which meant they could wail on you for 50 hp each hit, and still knock you down pretty low if you had nothing to keep you unfrogged/awake. Hated that spot! I had to go out and I think buy materia/accessories that would keep me from dying a slowy, sleepy, froggy death. Grr!

Most underestimated? Lol FF6 Siegfried in the Coliseum. The fight on the train makes you think hes as weak as then. Deff surprised the hell out of me when he pretty much rolls your face with his insane attacks.
Not just him, but my greatest foe in FF6. Czar dragon. Figured he'd be weaker than Kefka, but hey new bosses now adays are ubber powerful -------------------- Kefka's Message of the week: Get off your couch noobs and get my new game Dissidia 012 |

Final Fantasy Tactics Chocobos. Never have I been so annoyed by a single monster in Final Fantasy. Prior to FFT (as well as afterwards) chocobos have always been the helpful creatures to give you a lift. My first fight in FFT with chocobos in it, they could practically move anywhere on the map and was always healing creatures after I focused an entire round to wounding an enemy. Definetely underestimated. Of course then I ran into a battle at Barius Hill (the place where you first fight summoners) and there were three chocobos, two red chocobos and a black chocobo. They descimated half my team in the first round, and by the time I did enough damage to make the reds back off, they got healed by the three normals. I enjoy a lot more having them as a pet than an enemy.
-------------------- That was my sin. And this... this... is my punishment. |
