Quote (Insegredious @ 9th May 2011 00:54) I haven't gotten Prishe or Feral Chaos yet, but I just unlocked Gilgamesh (who was accompanied by a very audible squee from yours truly). Confetti! Personally, I've been trying to spread myself out over all the characters. I find Lightning, Laguna, and Tifa the best combination of easy to use and enjoyable to play in most situations, with the others kind of falling by the wayside. Vaan tends to be easy to use, but I don't enjoy playing him. Yuna's awkward to play, in my opinion, but only about half as bad as Kain is in that regard. I've unlocked both Prishe and Gilgamesh, the latter of which I was kind of disappointed with - I don't know why, but I was expecting him to have six arms and be a bit more serious. ![]() A little tip with Tifa: I've found that alternating between tapping circle and X provides a reliable feint likelihood on most attacks, much more so than deliberately attempting to press X at the right time. Just a matter of my experience, though; your mileage may vary. |

Quote (Insegredious @ 8th May 2011 19:54) I finally bought Duodecim a couple days ago, and I just now finished the twelfth cycle. As far as the new characters go, I enjoy using Kain, and Laguna instantly became one of my mains. I love using him in battle, and I really like his character. I haven't quite got the hang of Tifa's feint's just yet, but she's growing on me as a fighter (jiggle physics notwithstanding. Stop looking at me like that). Yuna's not bad either; no real complaints regarding her. I'm not too keen on Lightning or Vaan, though. Maybe it's because I've never played FFXIII, but Lighting's Paradigm Shift thingy seems kind of gimmicky. (I also think she's kind of a bitch.) I don't really understand Vaan's whole weapon shift deal. I'm also not a fan of Vaan's primary outfit. His tiny vest thingy looks really stupid. I haven't gotten Prishe or Feral Chaos yet, but I just unlocked Gilgamesh (who was accompanied by a very audible squee from yours truly). with vaan, basically he gets more powerful if you switch from one weapon to another. say you attack with a sword and shield, and then attack with a crossbow. the crossbow will rapid fire out like...20 shots. if you use crossbow again while the crossbow is still out, you only fire about 3. if you have to switch weapons to do the next move, the move is more powerful than if you just spam one move over and over. -------------------- Aujourdhui a commence avec toi. |

That...makes a lot of sense. I'm assuming it's Squenix's way of discouraging the "spam one attack that works" strategy in fighting games. Huh. I may have to give Vaan another chance. As for Gilgamesh, I find that he's REALLY slow (although not as slow as Exdeath) and some of his HP attacks have some obnoxious delay before the actual strike, but I'm having fun with him nonetheless. Getting Iai Strike when he picks the Zantetsuken feels pretty damn good. I also want to talk a bit about Bartz. Even though he was one of my mains in the first game, I basically see him as a "new" character, since his moveset was changed so much from Dissidia to Duodecim (and since I insist on playing as him in his new Freelancer outfit). In my opinion, his new attacks are just as good as, if not better than, the ones he lost. I'd happily take Luminous Shard, Hellfire, and Dark Flame over Wind Shear, Flood, and Soul Eater. And since he kept the Holy -> Flare combo, I am sure as hell not complaining. -------------------- |
